Hi,I am planning to buy a brand new computer and I'm currently wondering if I will get good FPS on a particular system I have sumbled over quite often during my search. The system specs are as follows: AMD FX-Series FX-4100 4 x 3600 MHz 8192 MB DDR3 PC-1333 NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti 2048 MB, DirectX 11 750 GB SATA II Is that CPU comparable to an i7 quad core? So, will I get good FPS on exactly that system when I use REX, any airport addon and the PMDG 737NGX or the Captain Sim 757?

  5. In http://forums1.avsim...p0-conclusions/ ******* Altuve describes some very good tweaks. Including BP=0 that gives a really good boost in performance. I can only take my hat off to him and everyone for all the work they put in to figure all this out.I have my own inputs to why the BP=0 is actually giving the improved performance that I’d like to share with the community. It is said that FSX uses massive CPU resources to manage the BufferPools. Hence the improvement when not using them.My input is that it is actually mostly the PCIe bus that is holding us back and that the BP=0 reduces the need for PCIe bandwidth.Let me show you how I came to this conclusion.I’ve been usin…

Got my hands on an Aspire T180 Desktop for free from my Aunt - but I want to use it as a gaming computer and i'm pretty sure my Aunt has no knowledge whatsoever about MOBOs and Video Cards. Heck, she probably couldn't even pronounce nVidia properly :lol:What I need to know, is if I replace the CPU with an i7 which I can get quite cheap off the internet, do I need to replace the motherboard (I'm pretty sure I do since it has AMD processor)? If so, what's the best option motherboard to go with?I'm pretty new in the Hardware areas so keep your extensive terminology on the down-low? :P I'd just like to know the best ways to upgrade this computer to an okay gaming computer for…

  8. I have an i7 2600k at stock with an Intel DP67BG motherboard and 16GB DDR3-1600 1.65v @ 1333 1.5v, HyperX 240GB SSD, GTX 580 1.5GB. I've been thinking about selling my i7 2600k and motherboard for around $340 and upgrading to an i7 3930k and an MSI X79A-GD45 (8D) motherboard. I'd like to see faster texture loading with extremely dense autogen in FSX and I might buy Xplane 10.

Hi guysBeen on the fence for awhile about wether to overclock my rig, since it was fairly new rig Ive been abit paranoid about fiddling around in the Bios area. After watching a brief video about the new Ezi bios options that alow for an easy overclock at a click of a button I decided to give it a go.Managed to OC to about 4.3ghz from 3.8ghz and..........wow what a difference Im getting around +10 fps in the most demanding of areas of FSX(I also disabled HT)But when looking at my temperatures they skyrocketed atleast by 20c in some cases to mid 70's to low 80's, Ive since disabled this and gone back to 3.8ghzIs this true? From what I know my systems got pretty good cooling …

So a few weeks ago I posted a topic asking if replacing the case would fix my fan issue and I decided to contact corsair after posting that thread. A few replies later and not knowing the solution they asked me to rma the case. I thought about it for a few days and then soon called to do an advanced rma after already submitting the RMA and then the unthinkable happened. The lady I called told me they(Corsair) would just send me a new case out and I don't have to return my old one. I mean I could have heard her wrong but I did receive the new case today and she is looking mighty fine :)Now I am about 99.999% sure this will fix my problem and hope to transfer all my compo…

  11. Ran into this program http://www.romexsoftware.com/en-us/fancy-cache/ , its going through beta testing right now, and its free. What it does is it caches your HD either onto your ram or to an SSD; therefore the most accessible programs will run at SSD, cache speed. I've got my hard drive cached onto a 60 GB SSD; I'm impressed, I can load FSX in around 15 seconds now. Whats great is you don't have to do any configuration, its all automated (similar to the OCZ synapse).

Hi all,I have received an ATI graphics card today (HD 5770) for use in my rig with FSX, and as I am returning to ATI after a long time, I was wondering whether it is better to;1). Set specific AA and AF values in the ATI Catalyst Drivers, or,2). Whether it's generally agreed to be better to "let the application decide" at the driver level?I know the answer to above for nVidia cards but would love to hear views for ATI/AMD ?Many thanks,Stick.

Hi,I'm sorry to bring my subject about stuttering up again. But perhaps this will also help other people making the right choice for buying RAM.So, I have a great system, but having stuttering, lagging, even though my framerate is high. This is just how FSX will always run, it's just FSX being FSX. But, I read that some fast RAM with tight timings might reduce the stuttering quite well. I currently have Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 CL9 kit, which is quite slow. Well, I'm now thinking about upgrading RAM. Yes, I know it's not gonna do much to framerate, but I'm focused on the stutters for the moment. I've read some stories from people having tested FSX with CL7 RAM vs C…

  14. Hi guys, I'm just about to part with some hard earned cash to purchase a two year old Dell Ultrasharp 3008WFP 30" LCD and was hoping someone could offer some advice. I understand it's an awesome bit of kit and I'm really excited about getting my hands on it. However, can anyone who has one of these screens tell me whether I will see any increase in stuttering or lack of smoothness. I have read differing reports about framerate hits on the forum... some have said they have seen no difference from going from 1920x1200 to 2560x1600 while others have seen a small impact. So can anyone offer some advice before I part with my dosh, or indeed any other observations about the mon…

Hey everyone,I just wanted to make this thread in an effort to keep the discussion about IB in here. Word Not Allowed has said in other threads to keep the discussion about IB in other threads so we don't end up hi-jacking other threads.

  16. Hey guys.Okay, so I've learned through several FSX CTD's (Like ntdll.dll, atc.dll) that my system is not as stable as it needs to be. This system was built by myself and was the first time I attempted to build a PC, so it's no wonder I'm coming across some possible issues that I can't pinpoint. It's possible my RAM Voltages are not where they should be, and that my drivers for my MOBO (I never installed any drivers that didn't come with the Mobo/SATA/RAID/Etc) are outdated and giving me issues. This is where I've decided I'm out of my league and am asking for that patented avsim help.I need to know what drivers to instal for my PC to get my Mobo running right, how to set …

HiI recently bought myself a new gigabyte MBO (X79-UD4) bundle which included a 3.2 I7 3930k along with 16 gig of memory. For about two weeks now I have been running it at factory settings which has been quite stable, only deciding today to have a go at over clocking it I had a go and changed the settings to run the processor at 4 GHz and changes all setting accordingly, after starting FSX it must have only lasted 10 seconds before my pc rebooted, I also ran a bench test and the same happened. Why this is happening is now beyond me so I reset everything back to default, I even tried easytune 6 which came with my MBO which is described as a beginners guide to over clocking…

Hey,More problems with this old Dell which I want to get working cos i cant use my big desktop at night cos it keeps everyone awake. Basically, the problem is it wont stay on. I have been trying to run the installation of Windows 7 over the top of XP, and I get to 27% of the expanding files and it will just turn off. So I plugged the HDD into another comp and ran the install from there. Now the laptop has trouble booting into that OS and when I run the Windows 7 repair, it crashes. Its like the battery has just died. I have tried it with the battery in and out, plugged in not in. Everything. The strange thing is that it will run fine in XP, but that wont run now because W…

I currently using 16GB DDR3 1600 (9-9-9-27) memory on my i7 2600k system. The BIOS for my motherboard has a 2133 MHz option for memory speed even though the box does not advertise supporting DDR3 2133. Would I get much better performance upgrading to DDR3 2133 in frame rates and load times even if the latencies are higher?

  25. Hello people, I am considering to upgrade my PC for FSX and also for other Games like BF3. Now I am running an i5-760 @ 3,70 GHZ with 4 GB Ram and a Powercolor HD 4890.I don't want to upgrade the whole system at once, so I have the choice of either upgrading the CPU or the GPU. Ram isn't that expensive so I will upgrade to 8 GB at all. Of course I know that FSX needs a very good CPU so maybe that would be a better choice but does that upgrade would really be that effective? I would also over clock the i5-2500k. I think all other games would benefit a lot more of the GTX 570, wouldn't they?So what would be your advice.Thank you.
