Guy's I am building a second system and need advice on which one of these to pick. I am pretty clued on building systems but need advise specific to FSX. I will be running the PMDG 777 with all the usual addon's but no AI (flying on Vatsim/IVAO) http://www.overclock...rodid=BU-103-OE http://www.overclock...rodid=BU-092-OE (would purchase the I7) http://www.overclock...rodid=BU-063-OE My FS9 system is an I7 2600K 4gig ram 560TI - decided I am going to use that as a media centre and start from scratch. Cheers

As topic. Would this configuration be necessary, as I tend to use NGX, major airport, high-res texture, high AA, High AI settings, and all other resource-consuming setting?

Some controllers seem to hear me okay, but several have commented in how static/broken my comms sound when flying online. Any suggestions on a really god headset/mic? I prefer 1 ear or at the least 1/8" mini jack. Thoughts?

Hi All, First I would like to start off with sorry, I know that these forums get bombarded with "new computer" posts, hopefully with one will prove to be a bit more useful for everyone. As the title states this will be a "Pure" FSX rig, meaning I will have the following installed: 1) Win 7x64 2) Anti-virus (NOD32) 3) Chrome/Firefox/Not IE browser 4) FSX and Add-ons I plan on using this computer for FSX and FSX ONLY! I already have a multiple Apple machines capable of meeting all my other personal and professional computer needs. My current FS9/X rig is so old I won't post the specs for fear of public humiliation. With Ivy Bridge here, I plan on waiting…

I recently got a new SandyBridge i7 2600k and Gigabyte Z68 m/board. On the advice of a friend, I bought a CoolerMaster v6 cooler and tested the overclock with Intel's own tester until I got to 4.5Ghz. The max. temp under load was around 60c.I left all the other settings on Auto and just increased the multiplier to 45 (x100). It ran stable for 2 weeks, then fried the CPU with no warning. Luckily Intel replaced the CPU under warranty, with a warning not to overclock again!! If I do try again what is the best way? Should I lock the voltage to standard and increase the clock until it becomes unstable. Any help will be welcome. I just want the best out of FSX.

I will soon be building a new computer. It looks like the Cooler Master HAF 932 seems to be a favorite for computer home builds. My only concern is that this case has no dust filters? How much of a dust magnet is the case and is this something that I really should be concerned about? To clean the dust accumulation, would I simply vacuum the exterior of the fans…or would I also have to vacuum the inside of the case also?

Hi, I have been tinkering with voltages on my CPU and I have it stable now around 1.344-1.35. I was wondering if these temperatures are acceptable for a Corsair H100.

Well my new toy is not directy related to the PC itself but an accessory. The eee Pad Transformer Prime! So its all fun and everything but what apps or uses does Android (4.0) help expand my FSX experience?

hey guys, OK. My specs are in my sigs. Something weird is going on. So, I finish building my new rig last week. I built the rig with W7 Pro on SSD1. The SSD is a Crucial M4 SATA3 6Gb/s model. It has had good reviews so far. Anyway, Windows installs fine. It boots from cold in around 20 seconds. I am happy Originally, and because I couldn't wait (coz I'm too impatient!) I took a Raptor 400 from work and installed FSX onto it. I installed all of my ORBX sceneries and did a few limited tweaks from Word Not Allowed's great new tweaking guide. I was only using BP=0 and HIGHMEMFIX=1 at first. It ran like a dream. I was immediately aware of why ppl are sayin…

Hi guys, so I finally decided it was about time to o.c. my system :) So far so good, I'm testing it now. It's not a huge overclock (I run on air cooling, aftermarket one), I increased bus speed to 160 Mhz, and set multi to 23 getting 3.68 Ghz. I'm using a core voltage of 1.272 (by default at 3.2 turbo was 1.25, 1.232 with default 3.07 not turbo). Ram settings were unchanged since I can run them at their previous speed of 1600 MHz, on an XMP profile (DRAM volt is 1.65 and QPI volt at 1.4). Turbo and HT off. Now...: is there a way I can let the sytem decrease my Core voltage, like it did before, when the CPU is at idle? Now it changes the multiplier only. QPI link f…

Hello Captains,First of all please note that this may or may not solve your problem. This fixed it for me, but might not fix it for you.Since I've had my Asus P8Z68-V Pro. I overclocked it to 4.5 GHz stable. Every now and then, I had a problem. Sometimes, maybe once a day, when I booted up my computer, it didn't post, my screen stayed black, and after around 15 seconds it shut itself off again. Right away it rebooted again, and upon the second time, it always booted succesfully. Although I did not really have a big problem with it, I still was a little worried and started to look on the net. After some research I found that pretty much everyone with an (overclocked) Asus …

I'm not sure where to put this, so if it is in the wrong place, I'm sorry. Anyways, I'm doing a school project on the evolution of CPU's and part of the project is we have to interview someone who is knowledgeble about the topic. Does anyone know who I should contact?

Hi there, I've not posted on here for a while now but I'm after some advice on upgrading my computer. My current specs are in my signature but thinking of ditching AMD in favour of Intel. I've been looking at overclocked bundles online and have seen an i7-2700K OC'd to 4.6Ghz, with 8GB RAM. That said, I've also been looking at another overclock bundle elsewhere which offers the Intel i7-3820 CPU OC'd to 4.5Ghz also with 8GB RAM. Price-wise, very similar. I'm also on the verge of buying a GTX560 '448' as I've seen one on special offer this week only - reduced to £167.99. I've read on here and elsewhere that there isn't much difference between the 2700K …

This is what happened: I was literally browsing the forum when my PC suddenly shut off. I tried to boot up again to no avail. The only way I was able to boot again was to move my 580 down to the PCIeX8 slot AND reset CMOS to default everything. I have seen other people with this issue online and this seems to be a dead board. Anyone have any ideas? I am extremely frustrated that I payed 240 bucks for a product and it breaks 3 months later.

I installed SlimDrivers, based on a recommendation in another thread. I scanned my system and updated all the recommended drivers. Now I cannot access my internal blu ray drive (Samsung SH-B123A). The system knows the optical drive is there but cannot read from or write to it. I've tried to update the drivers manually but the only software available on the Samsung site is Firmware, which I can't install anyway as the drive can't be accessed. On the device manager, an IDE storage controller is listed with the Bluray drive, and I am assuming it is this driver that is incorrect. I have tried deleting this driver but it of course re-installs again on reboot. I have tried roll…

I have a Dell Studio XPS based on an i7 860 @ 2.8GHz ( 3.46 Turbo Boost). Given that it's not possible ( or at least very difficult) to O.C a Dell PC I wonder if there is any merit in changing the mother board. I presume the "unlocked" firmware will allow me to O.C my CPU. Am I correct in my assumptions and if so is there any merit in overclocking the i7-860. Money is tight which is why I'm considering going down this route.

I am considering buying a used notebook or two (with touchscreens) to have FMC and possibly an overhead panel on separate screens. All this via network. This might be easier than adding a second graphics card to a 32bit system that is already running two monitors (instrument panel in 2D and VC). There are a lot of notebooks around, and I am wondering about the necessary specs. Would a Pentium III with 900 MHz be enough for only the FMC? It's still all FS9. Best, Holger

I have a 2600k overclocked to 4.8 ghz. My system has been stable at these settings for quite awhile. I've mostly been flying the PMDG NGX of late and have been getting FSX freezes since upgrading to service pack 1. The PMDG folks don't think that SP1 is the problem (never happened before though) and nobody on their forum seems to have noticed FSX freezes with SP1.The freezes seem to occur after I've been flying for over an hour or so. The flight just freezes. No CTDs, Sound remains. I've checked my cpu temp shortly after the freezes and it doesn't seem too high.Any suggestions would be appreciated.Intel 2600k, Nvidia 570, 8 gig ram, 1000watt psu. Thanks!

Hi guys, this has been a question I've wondered about for some time now. I have my desktop OC'd at 4.5Ghz but I have turbo boost off so it always stays at 4.5 even when I'm just surfing the web or something like that. I used to use turb boost so it idled when I wouldn't be flying but then somebody said I should always have turbo off because it can harm the cpu or something. What do you all think? Should I enable it? I always think it would make the life of the CPU increase because it isn't always going to be at a high clock speed. Thank you
