My 1000 W Cooler Master PS died after 4 years,so I performed a rehab on my trusty 1366 platform. I love the modular design, (install just the cables you need) on the PS. FSX is running locked at 30.

Just had to RMA my 670 FTW after just 5 months of use. Curiously, it crashed while doing a long flight in the CS 757. Got the dreaded code 43 error code and all attempts to re instal driver and even a fresh re instal failed. Moving it to the other PCI port didn't work either. Anyone else have a similar experience with this card ?? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I'm not very computer-savvy to say the least..I've spent the past few months researching forums on here, watching countless YouTube videos, and of course, following the AVSIM guide, to get to the point I'm at now. I've managed to overclock, and tweak FSX pretty successfully, but I am constantly learning more that can be done.. So I've reinstalled W7, kept my overclock, and now I'm stuck on the topic of DDR timings. I've searched so many forums, (including on here), but I can really find something that thoroughly explains them, First, what exactly does it do in FSX? Second, can someone be so kind as to tell me what I should be running mine at? What sh…

I surprised my wife tonight with the Kindle HD 7 inch Fire. I have spent the last two days configuring it and playing with it to ensure I could explain the various features that comes with it. I know you missed my smiling face here, but come on guys, sometimes there are higher priorities than this crowd. Anyway, first let me put in a plug for this thing... I am thoroughly impressed. Video on it is stunning. It has fantastic speakers with the Dolby sound system, and it is speedy. This is her third Kindle and I bought it to replace her current Kindle, her IPad and her IPod. It is going to do a great job of doing exactly that. Most importantly; she loves it! Okay, s…

I currently have everything including FSX on one 1TB 7200rpm drive but I'm considering adding a 256GB SSD for FSX will it help my scenery textures loading speed? Because as of now to have sharp textures I have to set my fiber time fraction to .40 which is killing my FPS

Hi All, Disclaimer first, I realize it is a bit nuts to put FSX onto a Mac. This is more of an experiment as I do have pretty much a dedicated FSX machine for beta testing and just enjoying flying. Recently I purchased a Mac mini (Late 2012 model), here is some of the specs 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz) with 6MB L3 cache 1TB Hard Drive, going to probably change this out soon to a something bigger Intel HD Graphics 4000 4GB of 1600MHz DDR3 memory, memory bumping to 8GB or 16GB soon Windows 7 Ultimate x64 running on a 100GB Bootcamp partition Win7 is completely up to date with the latest and greatest patches and drivers FSX …

I just purchased a new CyberPowerPC Fangbook Evo HX7-200 Gaming Notebook (see specs there) and my frame rates, after about 20 minutes into the flight the framerates change from approx. 20-25 fps to 5-6 fps (worse than my E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz Dual Core 3 year old processor). I've performed the ******* Tweak, modified the registry as directed, increased the size of the page file, reduced the UAC to the least limiting, performed the NVidia Inspector changes, defragged the HDD, minimized settings in MSFX, got rid of all scenery and McPhat repaints, stopped running DirectX 10, Set the video to Triliner with no anti-aliasing ... blah ... blah ... blah, the list goes on. …

http://www.walmart.com/ip/CYBERPOWERPC-Build-Your-Own-Gaming-Desktop-Bundle-Select-Case-Processor-Memory-Hard-Drive-and-more/21621640 I know I should build one my self but I simply do not have the time and is this a good deal? I would get the 3570k my main question is if the motherboard is z77 ? For overclocking if not why would I even get the k version Also I will get a 560 ti gtx off of amazon so I would get what ever comes in the bundle One last thing is the water cooling setup at the end any good and can it do the job up to 4 ghz +? -Thanks

Greetings I will be purchasing a desktop upgrade to run FSX. I currently am using an M18X, which cannot keep up with scenery, weather, etc. It has dual graphics cards, but of course, FSX doesn't like dual GPU and I am learning, is CPU driven. Here is what I am thinking of: -Corsair Air 540D or NZXT H630. Both have excellent cooling options, but I read that H630 is quieter. -4770K overclocked -GTX 780 Superclocked -2400MHZ ram 2 x 8GB (G.Skill) -Seasonic Platinum 860 or 1000 watt PSU -Swiftech H320 (3x120mm) all in one liquid cooler for cpu -120GB SSD for operating system and other applications -1TB (Samsung or Crucial) SSD for FSX and associated programs -2TB…

I have a question; how come when i start recording with fraps the frames drop significantly with 1920x1080x32? They also drop with 720 but not as much. The default resolution(i forgot what it was) has no frame drop with fraps. What is it about 720 and 1080 that make fraps want to eat fps? I also tried bandicam and same thing! can't put my finger around it and i searched for an answer and can't figure it out.

For those considering buying a new computer system or having difficulties on deciding what components to get if they plan to build their own system, I like the TechSpot Computer Buying Guide the most as it has a guide for the budget minded to those who want a luxury system - http://www.techspot.com/guides/buying/. I currently have the "luxury" system (well, not completely) and, for FSX, I think the Enthusiast or the Luxury System would work the best. When I first started building computer systems, I looked at this guide for the components I needed. They periodically update the guide when new technology, like the Haswell CPU, arrives so it stays pretty current. This gu…

Hi all 2010 I bought a new pc. I got as much as I could out of my budget to get good looking fsx with nice performance. It worked out not as good as I hoped but. When you spend more time tweaking than flying, there's something wrong. Especially in the orbx regions I had the problem, that ground textures were not loading fast enough. They where blurry and it needed some time till it loaded the texture with max res. I currently am thinking about upgrading or buying a new one. I will post the components that I bought 2010 and hope you can tell me if it makes sense to upgrade certain parts of the pc or if I should get a new one. My goal is to get a fluid fsx in or…

I would like to hear from people who has a new haswell (4760K or 4770K) and have overclocked it. How high clock frequency could you achieve ? What CPU cooler did you use ? What RAM memory was used ? What case for the system ? Ask since I understand that it matters when overclocking .

Something I was going to ask. Back in 2006 when FSX came out, CPU speed determined how much performance you would get. Is that still the case today (eg. GHz is everything)? With CPUs using less power, doing more per clock cycle, and better architectures, does the whole GHz thing still apply? Or can you get better FPS and better performance without needing to have high clock speeds? Is GHz still the sole deciding factor in how much FPS you'll get? I'm not looking to run everything on the highest settings. This is just a general inquiry. My FSX setup is tuned for performance, rather than eye candy.

Currently my cpu is @ 4.7, and my ram is xmp enabled. Is it better/faster to allow my ram to auto overclock when my cpu is manually overclocked or should I just leave it at its xmp profile? 10/12/12/31 2T 1:9 ratio - when my ram o/c'd it was @ 10-13-13-36 I cant remember what the ratio was but something tells me it was 3:36 1T (1:12) but I am sure the spped went down to something lik 667 instead of remaining at the 1200 http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c10d-8gtx Thanks EDIT: here is a better description of the timings, than what I posted above: (see pic) http://www.overclock.net/t/1239993/gigabyte-z77x-owners-discussion-information-support-thre…

Sounds straightforward, but I've picked up something about a possible need for 'realignment' which I'm not familiar w/. I have cloned many HDD>HDD using Seagate Disk Wizard (an Acronis variant of sorts at the time) but nothing SSD>HDD or HDD>SSD. Suggestions mu h appreciated--thanks in advance!

Hello everybody, Momentarily im running a I7-860 at 3,8 without HT on air. I want to upgrade the MB and CPU. I allmost made my choice but after reading the Hashwell OC thread i do not know it anymore. To make it short: i understand that when it comes down about the OC of a hashwell, its about luck. All the hardware sites who's tested the Haswell I7 4770 did not manage to go beyond 4,3 / 4,4 but in the OC thread i read 4,8(!!). The I7 2600K does "easily" 4,5 - 5.0 depending on the CPU. I dont want to guess, i must be "sure" to achieve a nice OC within the 4,5 - 5.0 range. As for FSX it needs raw CPU power, but i cant tell if the Haswell on a lower OC speed (4,3) outr…

To overclock means to add extra cooling. And then there is setting it up. Is it worth it? Does anyone have any basic guide on how to do it? Do you need a special case? Extra Powerrrrrr? And no, I don't need a gaming machine. Just something that can give me higher FPS (like 15-20 FPS) while I am running NGX, US CIties Chicago X and FSDREAMTEAM Chicago KORD at the same time.

My system currently has a 1TB primary hard drive where I have the OS etc. and a second 120GB SSD where I have FSX and add-ons installed. I'm needing more space for FSX add-ons and I'm wondering if there's a real advantage adding another SSD or if a regular SATA 3 hard drive would provide adequate performance. I'm thinking of putting all my photo scenery on this latest drive. I can get considerably more 'bang for the buck' if I use a regular hard drive, so that's my preferred route unless it's going to be a real bottleneck. Opinions? Cheers!
