I wanted to share my rig with you and the results I'm seeing after manytt test flights... I seem to have found the "right" settihngs for my system: First, the RIG: I7 3960X running as "per core" in the following config: Core 0 & 1: 5.0G Core 2&3: 4.8G Core 5&6: 4.7G Intel HT set to off. So only 6 cores. Vcore Voltage @ 4.2 BLCK: 100 (Default) GTX Titan Configured in the following way: Power target: 102% Temp Target: 80C (set this to prioritize the temp... you'll see why in a sec) Clock Offset: +100 Ghz Memory Offset: 0 Fan Curve (very important): Adjust fan curve to the fan runs @ 85% (max) when the card is above 40C. Why do this? Many test…

How much money should be spent on RAM if you build a new system now ? For example see the link below http://www.dustinhome.se/ProductList.aspx?lsmartsearch=n=*CORSAIR*VENGEANCE*PRO*&showslots=true&savetousersettings=false Many frequencies and sizes to choose. What is best for FSX ? For P3D XPlane in the future ? Should I prioritize speed or size i.e high MHz or more Gb ? Spend money here or on another component ?

  3. When building a new system I had this upgrade package in mind http://www.dustinhome.se/product/5010641364/dustin-uppgraderingspaket-intel-i5-3570k-s-1155/ From what I understand the new Haswell is not being more than slightly better than Ivo Bridge and where I live they are somewhat more expensive. Or is it stupid to not build a new system with the new haswell ? One question that comes to my mind is this. What will happen to the prices in the nearest future for both Ivo Bridge and haswell ? I have heard that I7 does not give any advantage over I5 when it comes to FSX. Does this apply equally for the new haswell I7 and I5 ?

Hello I was just wondering which CPU would be the better one for FSX. The price difference is currently no concern at the moment. I want the best CPU for FSX and I plan to overclock the CPU to as fast as possible and still keep it stable, the cooler is a Corsair H110. I am just wondering which CPU can I overclock higher, and which one will, overall, perform the best on FSX. I have built computers before, I am just not certain on which of these CPU's will give me the best performance in FSX. Thank You.

I have 8gb GSkill memory rated at 8-8-8-24 1.5volts. However, unless I go into the BIOS and set the timings manually it will run at 11-11-11-28 according to CPU-Z. I'm asking because after uninstalling and reinstalling FSX again, i got a g2d.dll crash. I had the machine (I5 3570 on ASRock Extereme 6 board) overclocked to 4.4. When i went back in and ran BIOS default settings, I had no problems. I guess I just don't understand memory timings and why my machine runs the memory at settings other than what it's rated at. Also, does anyone know of a better overclocking guide than the one at overclock.net? Apparently, my 4.4 overclock isn't stable. Thanks

I see from the leaked slide re the upcoming i7-4930K they say it 'supports' 1866Mhz memory. I assume 3930K must 'support' 1600Mhz memory. What is meant by 'support'? I have been assuming if the motherboard supports 2400Mhz memory then SB-E w/ an unlocked multiplier could work w/ 2400Mhz memory. Am I generally correct in that assumption, or no? Thanks in advance ;o)

  8. hi I need to run FSX with NGX and REX add ons on a laptop There is a lot of debate of whether FSX runs better on pure CPU power or the benefit of added cores. Apparently the turbo in the quad is limited and in the case of the i7 I have been told it might go to 3.0 GHZ in turbo mode whereas the Extreme Core 2 will quite happily maintain 3.6GHZ all day. I guess the main question is whether 2 x 3.6 GHZ would run FSX faster than 4 X 3.0 GHZ ? Im not looking for much in the way of scenery. I will be much more focused on the VC mode while being in and out of the clouds. If anyone is running FSX on a lappie with similar specs, it would be great to hear from …

I was going to go for ASUS Rampage IV Extreme (EATX) however having trouble finding a case for it that is mid-tower. I'd like to use 2400Mhz memory as well, and the Noctua D14 has to fit in it. Suggestions much appreciated...for a mid-tower case that will work for EATX and not look like it belongs in Terminator 5, or for a regular ATX form factor board that over clocks SB-E i7 processors well, handles 2400Mhz DDR3 quad channel, and does PCIe3.0 since all mid-tower cases seem to handle the form factor. Thanks in advance ;o)

  13. I've finally come around to build my X79 system and I quickly thought there was more stutters compared to my old P55 based system even thou the FPS was higher. Analyzing a few FRAPS recordings confirmed my suspicions. I tried a few things until I found the culprit. The BIOS/UEFI. My motherboard is an Asrock Extreme4 and it came installed with the 1.80 BIOS. It was update nr 6 dated 5 months from the launch BIOS. I upgraded to the latest 3.00 BIOS and the stutters improved a lot. I just want to get it out there that the BIOS/UEFI is capable of causing noticible stutters, so keep it updated.

  14. Hey guys, I am currently running an i5 3570k @ 4.4ghz and getting around 25 - 30 FPS on the ground / low altitudes and well into the 40's in the air. 15. My sense is that this is the PERFECT move for Intel to take on this: produce the ultra-pricey X variants using fluxless solder for the IHS as this would add some meaningful value to the X variant over K variants and help justify the cost, no? The last stop in my long wait to upgrade is the Sept release of IB-E, after which the parts go on order. If, and it's a big if I think still, SB-E-X w/ 8 cores comes out as some have rumored then that processor, if my fantasy of IB-Ex having fluxless solder TIM doesn't come to pass, is what I am going to purchase. If IB-E-X sports fluxless solder then I'll give up the 2 extra cores if the fantasy i7-3890X does come to pass.

  18. Hello gents. After a meltdown efficiently destroying my i7 950 (unclocked, go figure), the company I bought it from is sending me a new CPU. They would only provide the 3820, even though I requested the 2700k or 3770k. Even though 3820 isn't a K-cpu, it's partially unlocked, so in terms of OC, I'll manage to raise the clock a bit. However, I'm curious as to if anyone here has tried the 3820 with FSX, either stock clock or OC? I wanna know what to expect from this CPU. Thanks!

  19. Looking for a good case for those parts which will also include an SB-E or IB-E processor. Ideas? I see the Corsairs all want to put the PSS in bottom, but I think I'd rather have it go up top? I ask because I have an unused 750W PC Power & Cooling PSS w/ 50W 12v rail and I hope to use it too. Since I"ve never put one together w/ PSS on the bottom I'm not certain the PSS will work seat in the bottom of these cases, but dunno really. Many thanks in advance ;o)

Hello Guys ! Just upgraded my GPU 560 to 580, I have 42" Plasma TV using HDMI cable with adapter to the new card DVI Port. (NVEDIA High Definition Audi) Headset/Mic are connected to C-Media PCI Card No matter what I do or try to do, I can get sound only to the head set, even if I pick up the TV Sound card it will only get me sound to my headset. I check the TV sound on window sound setup, & yes, I can hear the TV Speakers responding properly to the test . No sign of any issue on Device Manager Had no issue prior to the upgrade. Any Idea ???? 24. So... I currently run the ancient ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Graphics Card, which I'm not sure on what level in comparison to the Nvidia cards that is. Either way, is it possible to buy an Nvidia card and simply replace the ATI one, or is it a special type of socket for the brand of card. This may seem like a stupid question but I'm serious... I'm somewhat technologically illiterate.

WHats the general opinions of this operation, their build quality, performance, customer service, etc.... I realize they are expensive, but I want a high end gaming machine and don't have the desire, the time, tools or talent to build one myself. Know they've been around since 1992 and have been building FS gaming rigs, so I'm curious as to what those who know more have to say about them.
