Hi all,Recently I got a problem with my joystick (Wingman Attack 2), as I am not able to set idle thrust. If I slide the z-axis all the way down to zero, at first it will cause idle thrust. But a few seconds later, it moves a little bit up by itself, so that minimal thrust is applied, causing the aircraft to start moving forwards (the problem is relevant before and during taxiing), and forcing me to apply parking brake to prevent it from moving any further.I have tried to recalibrate my joystick to no avail. Is there some value in some config file, which I can alter, so that the null zone is increased just a little, and makes it necessary to use more thrust to make the air…

Every so often I keep on getting a blue screen appear and then my computer restarts. I don't know much about these sort of things, so thought it was best to ask here what exactly is the matter. It says memory dump and/or hardware is faulty (or somewhere on those lines). Thanks in advance!

Hi guys I'm getting started overclocking my i7 920 on my ASUS Rampage II Extreme MB. Now it's at stock freq. of 2,67GHz. Entering the BIOS setting I found: CPU LEvel Up with two choice: 1) i7-940-2.9G 2) i7-965-3.2G in your opinion those two preset is for a safe overclock made directly from ASUS for a stable overclock and with safe settings parameters (I mean Vcore, CPU PLL voltage etc etc)? I found that 2) profile is quite sufficient for my flights. So do you think I can stand with it? My medium T°C for 4 core (with Hyper Threading OFF) is 67°C during FSX session. Any idea is appreciated. Many thanks in advance

Hi, Im just about to build my own computer for FSX and was wondering what people thought about the components I was going to buy for it: PSU - OCZ 700W ModXstream Pro Power Supply MOBO - Gigabyte GAZ77x-D3H CPU - Intel Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz GPU - Asus GTX 660 Direct CU II OC 2GB RAM - G-Skill 16GB (4x4GB) 2400MHz MEMORY - Western Digital 2TB 3.5"SATA 6GB/s 64MB I think that should be all I need for FSX to run very well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Let the people with big experience say what they think. What will be the best choice for FSX with the latest add-ons (PMDG, Mega Airports and so on)? The compare will be: Sandy i7 2600k vs Ivy i7 3770k or Sandy i5 2500k vs Ivy i7 3570k Expected overclock will be arround 4.0-4.2-4.4 GHz. If you prefere i5 than i7 tell why. I've read many about the difference. One is hotter, the other is 5% more powerful but the real in-sim test is the best way to compare. So share your experience.

When I upgraded to my new system I kinda made a mistake with the RAM, bought Kingston Hyper 2400Mhz with a CL11 latency(DDR3 240 pin). Totally forgot that lower latency would be better only looked at the clock. So im looking for lowest possible latency and fastest Mhz possible. Where do I start any suggestions? Price doesn't matter...

I'm upgrading 4x2GB sticks to 4x4GB sticks on a Z68 Pro3 board. Is it simply a case of switching off, replacing the sticks and booting up again or do I need to change anything in the bios? Sorry, bit of a hardware amateur...

It's time for an upgrade! Or so I think... Im a little confused when it comes to a few FSX hardware issues. If someone could answer a couple questions or steer me in the right direction i would really appreciate it! My current desktop runs fsx fairly well until it comes to bad weather.Rain and heavy clouds bring my FPS into the low teens and it drives me crazy.. Im looking to upgrade my gpu because i feel like I might be missing something looks wise and performance wise when it comes to FSX. When it comes to upgrading the GPU im not really looking to break the bank but im sure i could find something fairly decent at a decent price. My computer is pretty much used …

Hi guys, currently I have a little dilemma with my build. Im mounting an h110 radiator in push pull configuration in the front of my case because there is no other place to mount it. It will be cooling a 4770k, which will run hot because of overclocking. I have two 2 140mm fans and 1 rear 140mm fan. I have two options: 1--Using the radiator as intake, which will take cool air from the outside (needed for this cpu running hot) , blow it hot into the case and use the top and rear fans as exhaust. 2--Using the rear and top fans as intake and radiator will be exhaust to the front of the case. (In this case cpu cooling wont be as effective due to the air comin…

Hi guys, I have a problem. I had recently installed an h80i into my system including an i5 2500k, gtx 560, and a number of other things. The problem is my temperatures. Previously I was using a hyper 212+ an my temperatures were alright but could be better which is why I chose to attempt a water cooler. My idle temps are 37 and up. Load in fs is upwards of 65. I was having temperatures lower than this with my 212+ and I may just return the h80i. I have tried installing washers on the backplate as many recommend to do. No help. Put on new thermal paste, nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Btw the temps are the same overclocked and stock. And the h80i temp is roughly 3…

With the FSXmarkCPU comparison benchmark I’ve found a completely CPU limited scenario in FSX. That’s also the perfect way to test the impact of RAM speeds and timings. Your RAM will affect performance, but only when you are CPU limited. The RAM and the CPU work very close together. Slow RAM will keep the CPU waiting longer for data, wasting precious CPU cycles. In most games this is not a problem as it’s normally the graphics card that is the main bottleneck and the CPU is sitting waiting for the GPU most of the time. FSX is, as we all know, a bit different to most other games. It’s very often fully CPU limited so it is an application where faster RAM has the potentia…

I have used a Western Digital Model WD6400E035-00 External Harddrive for some time to backup my files and folders, implementing Syncback. I now find that when I plug it in, or restart my computer I get an error window that pops up and tells me that the drive is not formatted. I format it, and back up my files and everything looks fine. However, after I close it and/or restart my computer, I again get the same error. I disconnected and tried connection to another computer and now get the following message when I try to access this drive: "Location is not available. H:\is not accessible. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. When I look at the drive…

I'm looking at this re voltage specification values for SB-E. What I'm not sure of is how the supplied voltage in the BIOS relates to these published VID range values: VCC VID Range 0.6 - 1.35V If I set Vcore in the BIOS to 1.35V does this imply the PSS will supply a maximum of 1.35V to each core only as needed, decreasing supplied voltage if less voltage than 1.35V is required for low demand states, or is each core actually having 1.35V pumped thru each core no matter the demand? It seems for modest overclocks for 3930K I'm seeing 1.28V up to 1.32V as what has been required in the BIOS for over clocks.

I have 8 instrument panels, but have found if I plug in more than six on a powered USB hub I run into problems. They won't stay connected and lock up when I run fsx. If I plug the other two in a different hub, they all seem to work fine. Has anyone else had this problem. Also, is there a way to set the panels up configured the way I want each time I run fsx? Right now they start up all randomly configured and I have to start out by rearranging them all.

Imagine if you will a PC built with the best hardware for a program that is 7 years old! This PC will run this program only and it has a reputation for being a mess to begin with. Given the launch of the Haswell and GTX 780 and SSD's and Samsung miracle memory etc. What is best dedicated PC build for this program and usual suspect addons? Tom’s hardware does this "Best for the Money Thing" and it seems to me that we FSX fans should start doing the same thing. Let face unlike our niche software developer, Hardware developers don’t give a hoot about us, so we owe them nothing! I am planning a new build in the fall and I am currently in the quandary of 3770k or 4770k. Now an…

Back when I researched voltages for my Q9650 I recall there was what was considered the range of acceptable Vcore values. I think it was 1.25-1.36. Above that degradation was likely, and above the 'absolute maximum Vcore' of 1.45v degradation was assured, or something along those lines. What do we know for CPUs like i7-3930K? Thanks in advance ;o)

I simply have not found a guide that I can fully understand to overclock my ASUS P8Z68-V PRO and SB i5-2500k. Therefore I have it auto oc'd to 4.2 in the bios. I have the Corsair Hydro Series H100 extreme performance liquid CPU cooler. IN Paul Johnson's guide it is stated that auto overclock in the bios should never be used. My SB i5 2500k has been auto overclocked to 4.2 for a year or more and I haven't had any problems. I have looked at the core voltage using CPUZ and it doesn't seem to get above 1.30. What am I risking?? Bruce
