Good Morning Guys!!!! Here is a list of Ivybridge CPU's and their overclocking potential: Below is a guide on how to read Intel CPU Batch Number which is 8 characters long with a mix of number and alphabet which represents a value or description for each field. The first character represents the place where the CPU is assembled by assembling the IHS (Integrated Heatsink) with the chip followed by boxing. The chip extracted from the wafer is only processed in USA which is later distributed to the assembly plant around the world to make sure all CPU batch have the equivalent highest quality. The second character represents the year it is …

  3. With regard to performance in FSX I have heard that there are no point in getting 3770K over 3570K. Does this also apply for haswell as well. I'm asking since I plan to build a total new system for FSX in the first hand since my current system is not quite up to the task. I see that only picking the most powerful components results in price running away too high.

Hi, I know this seems very stupid, and it probably is. I've just re-installed FSX into its own drive (as it was before). I have four internal hard drives: 1. Windows 7 (64), and business software. 2. Dataplex ssd 3. FSX and addons 4. Backup Drive I've become aware, by message telling me the drive is too full, that I have an "unlabelled local disk" of 0.98GB, with 2.00mb free (it has no drive letter). The "disk" has the following contents: Recycle Bin Boot bootwiz System Volume Information Windows\addins, AppCompat, AppPatch, AsDmilHtm, assembly, and Ascd_tmp.ini bootmgr BOOTSECT.BAK I can't believe I've had this extra drive all along, and neve…

Hi! I am experimenting with MCE interfacing with RC4. So far, I really like the results. RC runs on my networked laptop. I hear RC's voices through the laptop's speakers while the sound of the a/c and all the other environmental sounds come through my main speaker system which is connected to the FSX machine. Also plugged into the main PC is a cheap USB headset to playback the voices of FS2Crew and MCE and to record my own voice. Everything works nicely, but as soon as ATC is talking to me, MCE picks up this sound through the headset. That's quite annoying. I've read other threads concerning this problem, and a possible solution is to connect the audio out of the laptop…

Hello , I want to buy a new I7 4770K Build for FSX , I have a couple of questions . My budget is around 1500 USD when no GPU included (I am going to use my brand new GTX 570 (I know its old and so but I have him only 2 months ...) a new GTX 770 is more 550-620 USD which my budget doesnt have... Lets start : 1. Is the NHD14 Is better then the H100i for cooling the 4770k ? 2. Is a samsung 840 PRO is a must ? or i can stick with the normal 840...(its 120 USD difference where I am living at) 3. Do I really have to upgrade my GPU to for a GTX 770 ? PCIE3 and etc..(I have my GTX570 only 2 months it is new (warranty change from a preview is a burned GTX480).. Tha…

  7. Hey guys!! I'm drawing Battleplans for my future FSX-dedicated rig, and came with this little doubt: I'm planning on Mid-Overclock i5 3570K (no more that 4.5GHz, needs to last 3 or 4 years) and de-lidding it. Aftermarket AirCooler too. check below I Came across AsRock Z77 Extreme4 ¡OR! Extreme4M. I have read good reviews about both mothers. Fact is that Extreme4M has 8+4 Power Phase, while the M has only 4+2. (NOTE that I have read they are all ANALOG PWM not digital, as AsRock markets both as DIGItal. check this: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1700041) So my question is: for that mid-overclock on air cooling, would the Extreme4M overclock the same as Extreme4 …

Well, it's official. I have made the transition from AMD to Intel and I have to say I am pleased. I originally had an AMD 955 Black Edition which is a strong chip in my opinion but still ran into performance issues when playing FSX the fps was solid but didn't have the fluidity I've seen from Intel units so I bit the bullet and went with an i5-3570k and a new board. I have to say I am impressed, unfortunately my cooler mount was not compatible with my new Intel unit so I am running stock clock speeds with stock fan until I purchase another cooler but even at 3.4ghz I've noticed a difference in FSX. Amazing. I don't post here alot, but I definitely appreciate the brilliant…

  11. Hi everyone. I have recently built a very good gaming computer and I though that I wouldn't have any problems anymore for running fsx with addons and with maxed out settings. But something is still wrong since I still don't get the performance that I expected (a smooth and fast flight without lags and high FPS). Please please please help me if you know how to fix this. It would be really appreciated! my specs are: core I7 3770k [email protected] 16gb of ram @1600mhz Nvidia Geforce GTX670 128GB SSD (even though the FSX is not on the ssd) liquid cooling

I recently purchased a NIB 2700K SB as a replacement for a 2600K that was beginning to show signs of degradation. When the new 2700K showed up I set my Motherboard to factory defaults (Not OC'd) and proceeded to swap the chips. After installing the new 2700K it refused to post could not even get to the bios. I place the 2600K back in and the system fired right back up? I have never had a chip fail. Am I missing something? Shouldn't a 2700K be a drop and swap solution for a 2600K? Did I miss a step or something? I cleaned and installed using proper thermal grease etc. and am build all my own systems but I'm at a bit of a loss on this. The vendor I purchased this t…

  13. Hello gents. I've just stabalized my new i7 3820 to 4.6GHz, and am quite satisfied with the results. While I was tuning my system, I noticed that my P9X79 MB has the option to set the multiplier per core, instead of the entire CPU. So I started thinking (oh-oh), since FSX runs mostly on one core, delegating only some tasks to other cores, would overclocking the FSX main core higher than the other cores be a good idea at all? Without finding any topics anywhere describing any results of such an attempt, I can at this point only use my ( flawed?) logic: Tuning down cores that are not as busy would reduce the required vcore for a stable clock, and therefore the temps, al…

  16. Hi all; i'm at my wits end trying to get Fs9 to work properly on my HP Pavilion dv6-1134ca laptop the O/S in Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with service pack 1. I used the Fs9 disks to upload it and no-cd, plus update 9.1. I also installed I/S2 , after some adjustments I got it to show up but found that the keys which worked ok on my computer would not work properly on the laptop, I also had a problem to get it out of full screen fixed that but now the views are all screwed up. I am not very good at finding, fixing trouble spots on computers so what I'm asking is a simple way to get Fs9 to work on this laptop, I can follow directions ok so any advice, tips will relieve …

Hi all I am going to ask for help here because I could not find a PC forum here. My problem is that I cannot enter the Bios on PC boot up. I push F1 of Delete but even though I have a 5 second time period to enter the Bios my pc just ignores my pushing F1 or Delete and then ask's for the appropriate boot media to be inserted (WinXP) and then reboot. I do that and then the PC will boot. I know that it's recognizing my DVD drive as my primary drive but I did not set up my PC to do that. Is there some other way to access the Bios please? Any help would be very much appreciated...TIA...John PS: This had occured once before but that turned out to be due to a kna…
