How should I start and stop the Cessna 172 engine without resorting to CTL-E? Can't find any clues in the learning centre. So far I've found I can shut down the engine by switching all magnetos off, or setting the mixture to an inappropriate position :)Starting the engine again seems more difficult. Moving the key switch to the start position cranks the engine: sometimes it fires, sometimes it doesn't. The fuel pump switch position doesn't seem to matter.I'd appreciate some guidance here, thanks.--Bryn

Dear all,Having been operating F2004 on a new/high end machine for the last 6months I have had to reinstall it following a problem getting it to run either the PMDG 747 or the level-D 767. Problem I'm now having is during the install it gets to 90% and will not go any further (it is trying at this point to install 'world.cab'). It then comes up with a message saying that the disk is either full (not so) or the file is in use (I have shut down all programs prior to reinstall every time). Does anybody have any idea what is going wrong and how to solve the problem? Many thanks.

Recently on a flight I got into some really strong tail winds (102 Kts), however on the jet that I was flying (a PMDG 747) the throttle was still going at about 94% N1.Is this normal? Shouldn't the throttle be idled back a bit due to the strong tail winds? I had the economy settings at 50 -- which is about average and the plane wasn't really pushing the limits of its engines, so I thought a tail wind would help with fuel and the total time.Just curious as to the behavior. Still managed to land with plenty of reserves.

I wanted to ask this at the FS Genesis forums, but though the payment and DL were fine, I cannot for the life of me get into their forums. When I run the install exe., it goes through the motions but does not show a pathway to FS9...scenery/world/sceney. It shows no path at all and there is no option to write your own path. So it just won't work.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was just wondering if the PMDG 744 is really that hard on the FPS as compared to the Leveld 767?I've heard horror stories but im not sure if it would be that much harder on frames .I know this should belong in the PMDG forum but I didnt want to have a comparison to the Leveld in there, If its in the wrong forum mods feel free to move it.Thank you muchP.S lets just say im asking because its a very possible xmas present LOL

Hello All!Well, it turns out that I have about 35 semolians to burn, and I am interested in getting one of the fine RealAir aircraft. The problem is, which one?? If you could only have one RealAir plane in your hangar, which one would you go for: the Scout, Citabria, Decathlon package, or the SIAI-Marchetti SF260 (I'm really not interested in the Spitfire). Thanks!Paul

Hi all: I am developing a little tool for FS9 and for that I would need to know how FS9 Flight Files configuration is structured. My particular issue is to know where fs9 says in which folder it places "My saved flights" (or the correct translate in English, as my current fs9 is the spanish version). I'm not asking where it places that folder, as I believe to know that it does keep them in "My Documents", but what I would like is to know where FS9 establishes that path configuration, in order to be able to change it if desired. Thanks in advance and have a good Christmas.Jacilore

I notice that the AI aircraft run anywhere from 10-15 min late from their 'scheduled' arrival time. I know you can force them the land on time but then they act kind of weird. Is the delay pretty normal? I guess it's not a big deal if you give yourself enough turnaround time. Just curious.

That is blurry--it's always very good to have a jpg as sometimes blurry is very subjective. I am not sure what the issue is, but I know you can achieve much more--these shots were done on a P3/800 with Add-On mesh:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=249140&page=My texture entries are pretty small:TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=2.0TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=3.500000If you search on my name you'll also find a thread I opened on the texture bandwidth settings and how locking fps is essential to getting them to work right. I hope some of that helps. Last, any background task can throw off MSFS's ability to keep up--you need to closely examine your system and eliminate…

All of a sudden my mouse pointer is flicking when I move it in FS9. As soon as I stop moving it, it disappears. Usually the curser stays on for a second or two. Any ideas? This is a Dell 4600 P4/3.06Ghz, Radeon 9600 w/ 256meg, 1Gig of ram. I have been running FS2004 on this machine for along time with no problems. Help.

I read somewhere else that they use Windows firewall instead of Zone alarm as the Windows firewall gave him less file monitor hits.I noticed with Windows firewall that it blocks all incomming calls but I couldn't find where it asks me if I want to block outgoing calls. Zonealarm asks me this. Am I missing a setting in theWindows firewall?JimCYWG

I selected the weather that updates every 15 minutes, and while on approach to Hong Kong, my view of the outside (from 2d panel view) went completly white. I thought I was just in a large cluster of low clouds, but when I changed to spot view I saw the white was surrounding the plane. It didn't look anything like fog, just a wall of white around me. I changed to a weather theme and everything was back to normal. Same thing happened later on a climbout. What's happening? I have a picture but I don't know where FS puts them. Thanks
