I.m going to reformat my hard drive. I have Windows XP and XP Pro. Which would be better to run FS9 and FSX, or is there any more benifits to running one or the other. All replys welcomed :9 Bob

Hi Folks, my subject says faulty slew mode but possibly I have 'ticked a box' somewhere that's causing this problem for me.When I hit the Y key to enter Slew mode, the aircraft shoots off straight away. The NUM 5 key stops it but it shoots off again when NUM 5 is released.Do any of you kind folks know what's happened? Any clues or ideas will be much appreciated.

After installing FSX, I made an attempt at implementing autostart for that program.I edited my "path" to be "Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator Xfsx.exe"No luck. It did not work.I edited my "path" back to be "Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9fs9.exe".Now I cannot get FS9 to come up under autostart. NO, I am not absolutely sure that the path for FS9 is exactly what I had before, but I have tried all kinds of combinations and cannot get fsautostart to work now. It goes into phase 6, and nothing ever happens past that point. It continues "Waiting for Main Application to finish" in either FS9 or FSX.I have tried saving either as a profile, lea…

I recall seeing a little utility that allowed me to start fs9 without the startup disk. This is very helpful when running two computers. Does anyone recall seeing this in the library, I cant seem to find itThank you in advancepeter

Hi,I understand that on RNAV SIDs and STARs, that you are supposed to just put the intersections/ waypoints in you FMC/GPS as opposed to using VOR navigation on a traditional one. Well, when I put the waypoints in the GPS, it comes up with nothing---no matches....what am i missing..??Thanks,Matt

I am now experiencing regular crashes of FS9. Some are to a black screen and others are to the "Blue Screen of Death".Last crash produced the usual message along with these identifiers, Here they are: STOP:0X0000008E (0XC000005, oXBF8363E5, 0XB56C3BFC, 0X00000000)Win32K.SYS- ADDRESS BF8363E5 base at BF800000, datestamp 43446a58Does anyone know what they refer to? Hi there, I have read many times about people shutting down the services that run in the background on pc's to make FS9 run better.I have many microsoft services running when I look in the msconfig, but don't know which ones I can safely shutdown.Is there a guide anywhere or if anyone can suggest anything to me?Kind RegardsGavin Moss

I'm planning on doing some flights over the continent, and I must admit my geographic knowledge of the area is rather limited, and I have no idea what kind of scenery is out there for FS9. I'm looking for any scenery, preferably freeware or inexpensive payware suitable for general aviation flights. Big airports are ok, but I prefer the smaller regional types. My only limitation is that it is framerate friendly. I've found tons of stuff in the various libraries, but it would take me forever to identify those really great sceneries. I've got a couple of problems using AFCAD and Gary Summon's UK2000 Luton scenery.I was fed up of seeing loads of British Airways planes on the stands, and seeing as they don't operate there, I made changes to the AFCAD file to try to remove them.I selected the airlines that operated out of Luton and entered their codes into the parking box for each stand. Even though British Airways are no longer selected for any stands, they are still several BA aircraft on the apron. Opposite with EasyJet, who have been selected to park at all stands, but not one aircraft in sight.Also, the majority of the gates have a radius of 24.38m. I got an email from PC aviator offering RFP 747-200 CD for $15. I went to the RFP webpage and now I'm somewhat confused. On this site is stated'For those of you obtaining an RFP V2 CD version recently, it is 3 years old and obsolete. I hope you got it free. how do i get orange sunsets or sunrises in the game? its always blue. even during evenings and early morning

i posted this on another forum, but no help there. i've been having a problem here as of late. my flight sim did not load and seemed to take forever. i did the old control, alt, delete and it kept on saying "fs9 not responding." i did a complete uninstall/reinstall, went to the flight sim website and it said to change the config file,and changed the numbers around in the config file also for the startup. if you've done this before then you know what i'm talking about. i finally was able to get it to load after i reinstalled directx. however, it still took a while to load. i also uninstalled squawkbox for vatsim and it seemed to load a little faster. also, now when it loa…

How do i check my altitude? I read somewhere that the shown altitude on the monitor and dials are most the time inaccurate. I feel the same coz i start to stall at 13,000 feet. Im flying a downloaded b777. im not sure if this is related but when i request flight following, for whatever reason its for, i get a report saying something about Flight Level 329. does this have anything to do with altitude?I dont know most of flying procedures and I usually fly around navigating only using the GPS thingie. Howdy,I tried to install the FS Genesis 38m US West Coast mesh into FS9 and completely screwed the pooch. The install directions say scenery/world/scenery, but for the life of me I couldn't find it anywhere so installed straight into "scenery" and crashed the sim like a rock.At startup it said something about the "terrain cfg. is missing and then CTD. It said re-install FS9 to fix the problem. So I did.Did a whole fresh install with Ground Environment Pro and Flight Environment and all works well.So.. could one of you kindly point ou the exact install path for the Genesis mesh please, or at least where my missing scenery/world/scenery folder has gone. Hello,I'm working/Modifying my Gulfstream G550, I just recently added an APU into the panel. My question is was it a waste of time, or keep it in for more realization purposes? When I do switch it on, I get Power to an already Cold & Dark Cockpit; but I can just turn on the Master Battery, and it does the same thing. Is there more that I can do (or have to do) to the APU to make it more realistic, or is that about it? I'm also looking for a nice looking APU (if there is such a thing) to add/change to my Plane. The one I have I can't remember where I got it from but it looks okay. Not sure if it matters or not but my Plane, and Panel are for my own personal use. …

I have recently carried out a reinstallation of fs2004 and all addons incl payware scenery.Occasionally I get a black screen crash with the event viewer showing "Faulting application fs9.exe, version 9.1.0.40901, faulting module terrain.dll, version 9.1.0.40901, fault address 0x000184d8." Is this scenery related? I would be interested in any way to track down the problem.Richard

Hi all,After many autoupdate reminder of the IE7 update I decided to do it. I installed the new IE7 final. Two days later I would like to have a short flight, but the FS9 does not start. I got the splashscreen for a few seconds and the the FS9 crashes. Every time I tried to start the FS9 I got also two entries in the eventlog (application). But the eventlog entries have not gaven me an idea what's wrong. First I thought, that the problem was in the FS9.CFG, so I let the FS9 create a new one, but before it has been able to do so, it crashes. I just saw the brief article on AVSIM's home page about visiting our favorite FS websites to see the special tis the season sale specials. Well, I can't find any yet! I went to sites like Flight1, Feelthere, LevelD, Aerosoft, etc. and I could not find anything on their home page about special software deals for the holidays. I would think that with FSX out, that many of the vendors would be putting their FS2004 stuff on sale. If anyone knows of some really good deals on aircraft, scenery, etc., please let us all know.
