I was one of the first to buy FSX, but even with a powerful system, I just can't get the same degree of performance out of FSX with a level of graphics equal to what I have now with FS9.Since I've decided to stick with FS9 for the foreseeable future, I've starting doing some things that will keep FS9 fresh for me:* I've recent added a number of freeware airports--something I had never done before. Having decided to hold off a while on FSX purchase, I went back to reviewing and implementing a few of the various performance-enhancing tweaks I've read about here and there. Since doing these things FS9 has really maximized its potential in IQ, frame rate consistency, and smoothness. I had become a little lazy about delving fully into these, but as I thinking I will need to continue on with FS9 for a while I wanted get the best possible performance. With some new hardware I am finally running FS9 maxed out.Three questionsFirst, is there a way to make the 19m or 38m mesh extend further out to the horizon. I am set to 100% but it seems as though the mesh continues to get more detailed as I get closer (morph). My new hardware could handle it from farther away but I don't know how to force it in the cfg file.Second,Is there a setting in the .cfg to force even greater amounts of autogen than the slider will allow? I know that I can find replacement tree files to thicken the forest. How about buildings.Finally, any other .cfg settings that will really up the complexity of the scenery beyond what the sliders will do? I…

I have a question for you,I love the PMDG 747 series. And have had my eye on the RFP 747-200 (justflight is selling them for $27USD with shipping).Is it any good? I know it will be a whole new set of systems to learn but it looks like it could be fun and I'm jonesing to fly a 200 series after watching my Polar Air Cargo DVD.So here are my questions.1. Hi AllWhen I am flying FS9 my system completely melts down, will be flying beautifully at 30 FPS in the CJ1 from eaglesoft, then ATC will broadcast or usually on short finals when the system is really number crunching (But not always) then major stuttering will occur then the simulator freezes and I hear really bad static, reminds me a bit of a record when it gets stuck very weird, this usually occurs for 60 seconds and the sim in unusable then is ok for a little while but then comes back often, I have tried everything including fresh re build, turning off hard ware acceleration lowering sound quality. Its really annoying and cant put my finger on it, getting to the point…

am having some problems with flickering textures.think it is something to do with the filtering method ,im using tri-linear.is this correct and is there any fixes i can use to stop this.cheersrichard

hi,i had to do a full reinstall of fs2004, i added the 9.1 update and done a couple of flights everything was ok, i then added some scenery which i had on my previous fs9 setup, but now when im in create a flight i cant see any aircraft in the preview box, doesnt matter what aircraft i select i cant view it. any help would be appreciated,thanks

I opened my well used FlightSim Manager and got the notice that my version was an old one and to go and download the newer one.It now refuses to run.This has happened on an earlier version but the update was not a problem.However Ranainside's website is no longer available and a search seems to show nothing recent which would suggest an alternative.Anyone got any ideas? Hello guys im not a FDE guru but i would like to ask or know what you guys use FDE for Simmers sky a/c? the simmer sky is not very realisitic interms for engine performance and fuel burn.Pls pm if you guys woud like to share your FDE or Advice me were to i can link a payware fde to simmer sky.many thanks Raj,

I got fsx but it runs too slow (anything lower than 22fps is stutter) however I like the aircraft (737,crj). Any chance the work when ported over to fs9?Paul@eghh

I realize this isn't an FS2002 forum but Avsim doesn't have one. The activity on the one over at Flightsim is mostly non-existent. So anyway, I had what I thought was an A4 a couple of years ago for FS2002. It was freeware. It was painted in the Navy orange/red white colors. It had a working tailhook. It had a nice panel and sounds. I thought that some of the guys with Phoenix had something to do with it. I recall the file description being very long (maybe 10-12 lines) and spoke of how hard it was to fly. It was a really wonderful aircraft. Hi!Just started using the iFDG MD-11 with the ACS panel. As far as I know all most recent versions. One problem: nav and strobe lights are out of position on the ground. As soon as there's airflow over the wings (after takeoff) the lights are at the right position. Can anyone help me to solve this?Thnx!David Bernard

At the moment I'm using the night terrain textures from GE Pro. I'm not too keen on them, and was wondering if there are any recommendations for alternative night time textures, preferably with more subtle lighting for urban areas?Also, I got myself a new laptop to run FS on last month with an Nvidia graphics card. I've been getting some pretty annoying "shimmering" or "swimming" terrain and scenery textures in the middle and far distance. What are the recommended driver settings to maintain sharp textures but avoid the shimmering effect?Thanks in advance for any help.PS - Great to see the FS9 community still going very strong after the release of FSX!

It seems that some people have trouble with the CD players that commonly feature in Bill's a/c - in fact, I think that he says that if you have trouble with low FPS with these a/c , then you should remove the CD players from the panel.I don't have any trouble with these at all on my old AMD 2400 system - in fact, I place a CD player into all my a/c VC's wherever I can (some a/c don't have space) This allows me to listen to my favourite music as I fly - all controllable from the VC.I am intrigued as to why some have problems with these CD players and some don't . Any ideas??Barry

I recently tried to start FS9 on my computer and use the c172. I then clicked ok. Then fly now. After that fs goes black and i can see half my desktop then it just crashes. It says we have discovered a problem and have to close. I have tried all planes what could be the problem?Kenneth

Quick qustion,I was thinking about buying the Overland Airbus package and was wondering if there was a 2D cockpit model version or is it 2D with VC only. I like my Airbus panels, and would like to use them with the Overland model. Thanks in advanceScott

I fly in FS9 from long ago, but now I'm trying to finish the 2nd certificate (Private Pilot - Lesson 5: Air traffic control) that I cannot finish ever.The problem is: (in the game ATC) "select 4 to fly north and press ctrl + ] (right bracket)"I have a spanish keyboard and the left and right brackets needs a combination: Ctrl + Alt + ` or th spanish keyboard key that means ctrl + alt: AltGr + `What I do was search the funcionality of the command, but it does not appears in the key command list :?:Can you tell me what this combination (ctrl + ]) does?Thanks

In the past versions of FS, there were limitations on the altitude that AI aircraft could attain, usually 35,000 or less. I thought I had read someplace that this had been fixed in FS9. I have some high altitude AI's I'd like to set up for high altitude (Concorde, F-18 Hornet, etc.) but don't want to go to through the hassle if they won't fly right. Right now I have my Concordes restricted to 38,000 ft. Can we use realistic altitudes on these craft? (FL550, etc.?)Thanks for any experiences you can share.
