Hi Simmers,Well Warwick Carter has excelled himself, yet again, for the third time this year one of his creations is the Star Download in the PC Pilot magazine ( http://www.pcpilot.net ). The latest Issue (44) of PC Pilot features the stunning P51D Mustang that Warwick has created. That makes it 3 out of 6 of this years PC Pilot Magazines have featured Warwick's aircraft and the outstanding Gee Bee made the Cover of the magazine it was released in.A very good example of the quality of Warwick's outstanding work - released 3 FREE aircraft this year and achieved three "Star Download" awards - one for each.I have been very fortunate to have had the privilege to do much of t…

I am pleased to announce that two of our members have stood up to take on the responsibilities of Forum Admins (along with yours truly and some of the other AVSIM staff). A big round of applause for Geof Applegate (Geofa) and Brian Gefrich (Notasenator), who have volunteered their time to herd you cats. I would like to extend my thanks to them for taking on this responsibility! Thank you guys!

Can someone explain how transtion altitude is established in Europe? In the USA, it's 29.92 at or above FL180, but it seems to be much lower in some European areas. Thanks, Dale

Hello All....I have read where several people have had the same problem as I have with the amazing Misty Fjords scenery, double shorelines. I have read about several fixes, but so far none have worked for me. I ran the Misty BAT file and removed the BGL files suggested, but no joy. I also have the Tongass scenery but do not have Ultimate Terrain.Any ideas???? Thanks Dave

This has to do with the FSUIPC module. I'll post it on Peter's site as well. I've set my CH TQ up for the PMDG 737NG6/700 series and now I get some funny actions on the 737's Throttle quadrant. I set the R axis for throttle on #2 engine, but when I move it, the V axis also moves which is assigned to "flaps". If I move the V axis, the #2 engine throttle (which is assigned to the R axis) moves, but the flaps axis doesn't move. I've checked the assignments in FS9 and the axis assignments in FSUIPC, and the throttle for #1 engine and the spoilers axis work just fine. Also, when trying to assign axis in FSUIPC, when I move the V axis, it shows up as the R axis. On slecting "ign…

Hi, I've just recently purchased a new PC and find that I am unable to download my CD copy of VFR scenery using FS9. Although it states thar it is an upgrade for FS2002/2004, it workd perfectly well with FS9 on my previous PC. I download it to FS9 and it appears on the main program list as ok. Not so, it does not appear as additional scenery in FS9. At one attempt it actually did show, but it stated that SE of England was excluded. It wasn't and the East of England didn't work anyway! My new PC is powerful enough to work FSX, so its not that. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Martyu

I wonder how many of you can relate to this?A FS9 install with bucket loads of add ons, aircraft and scenery, freeware and payware.Hours of happy tweaking to end up with a smooth and pleasant flight experience. Then you see an add on and think just one more! This is what happened to me on saturday. I liked the look of the Aerosoft AES so downloaded it and installed ok.Next time I flew and whilst changing from full screen and minimized screen and back so as to start RC4 etc FS9 hung, rebooted and tried again, the same thing happened. After many frustrating hours I uninstalled AES and turned back my PC to an earlier time thankfully FS9 is now back to its glorious self! So, the …

I googled for this problem but cannot find any references to it. Hope you guys can shine some light on it:When I keep the aircraft on the ground for an extended amount of time (let's say 5 minutes) while checking out AI-traffic, my airplane crashes. No clues as on why; just a message that my plane crashed - last time I got a message "airplane overstressed" - while it's sitting at the ramp, engine off, parking brakes on, etc!I don't think I'm running anything outrageous - FS9, Ultimate Traffic, a few scenery add-ons. The 'crash' problem seems to be happening at any location, and with any airplane (stock, freeware and payware)Any clues?

I am sure everyone has had one of those great flights. That is what hooked me in to flight sim in the first place. I haven't had much time to sim lately, and all the hubub with the new sim has put a damper on my simming...feeling out of the cutting edge envelope has bothered me lately. Tonight I flew from Bremerton Washington (Mark Smith) great free-ware from the library here...to Portland Hillsboro (payware) everyone knows who...:)I started out VFR but ran in to low scud and showers...filed an IFR airborne, and ATC took me right in. I canceled IFR about 20 miles out and flew down the valley into beutiful scenery. I was using a freeware AI program aiseparation from (…

Hi,I'd previously installed F1view and decided to remove it.Now in spot plane view, my aircraft don't look right. The zoom levels and distance seem off to what they were previous to the installation. Can someone tell me how to get the default zoom and distance levels back to normal? The values must be in a .cfg somewhere maybe?I tried deleting fs9.cfg and lettiing the program create a new one but I don't think that's helped. Many thanks.

Check out this new Flying School (BETA) http://www.fsflyingschool.com/ - for FS2002, 2004 and FSX The programme installed easily and comes with a good manual. In fact the manual is so detailed that I skipped most of it and went flying. But after only one flight, I can see that I am going to have to read it fully. The BETA only allows flying around the Chicago area - but that is enough to test it out. It worked flawlessly for me. The Instructor knows what phase of flight you are in and offers helpful suggestions - and not so helpful criticisms if you do anything that he doesn't like. There are a number of instructors to choose from if you don't like any particular one. O…

Finally! Finally finally finally! Wherever I fly, whatever the situation, no matter how's the weather (40miles clouds), addon aircraft or addon scenery, or both, it just doesn't care. Jerky landings and takeoffs are thing of the past. No more blurries, no more stutters! It keeps at 40fps locked, and NEVER drops below 30. All sliders except clouds are at max. I am finally able to handfly right down to tarmac aircraft like LevelD or PMDG in VC, with complete smoothness. It finally *feels* like flying. Now, how funny is that, that MS brought FSX now out, which actually presents ALL these problems all over again. How would someone be as stupid to change completely now to FSX?…

Today I landed the PMDG 744 in a major t-storm at KIAD. My Vref25 was 149. Cross wind was 18k gusting 28k. Turbulence was "severe." I set the MPC SPD to 159 but felt it was a little slow in the awful conditions. Interestingly, I observed the AT drove the speed to around 160-162 for much of the approach until below 500'.What should the approach speed have been for a flaps 25 landing and how did you calculate it ?Appreciate any replies as I am still a bit unsure about adjusting for crosswinds and gusts. And turbulence of the kind I had today adds another factor that I just don't know how to deal with accurately. I just aim for an approach pitch of anywhere from flat to…

Hi,I was just wondering if anyone knew if you could take charts (like from airnav.com) and copy them or something into the FS kneeboard? Instead of printing a ton of charts out? Also, I know you could just look at the website when ur flying but this pauses FS so there has to be a better way? Thanks,Matt

Just up until recently my FS9 was running fine. However lately I cannot get it to load a flight, either from the saved flights or when I press the "Fly Now!" button. The only way I can load a flight is if I load up FS9 through the "Safe Mode: option in the Start>Programs>MS Games>FS2004 menu. I believe this is using software controlled display settings and not hardware controlled, but I could be wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest NVIDIA drivers and even tried older drivers. I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled (including the 9.1 patch). I have verified that DX9.0c is installed correctly and has no conflicts. I have not made any sof…

Thanks to AL Pelletier for the Round Robin, its great to explore FS9 with all the latest scenery add-ons. I have completed RR1 and looking forward to RR2. When will it be available? Given that there are so many to be release a separate forum for discussion may be in order.Andrew:-yellow1

Howdy,My stable of planes is nice and full, and I have the FZ01 and FZ02 sceneries along with some good freeware scenery, now I'm looking for an environmental upgrade. In short, I want more eye-candy.Is ActiveSky 6 the way to go? Is the difference very noticeable? This is one area of the add-on market I know very little about. Also, what about mass-coverage scenery packages? I have the MegaScenery PNW, it's nice but is there something that gives a general improvement across the board, something that tightens up the code and makes the whole sim look better? Anything like that out there? I've got the horsepower and a bit of cash, I want to bring FS9 to it's eye-candy max.Tha…

Bringing a few built in FSX features to FS9, eh?I didn't quite understand the product, but after reviewing an official post on their forums, I get it. Kinda neat, actually. You can add follow-me card (and call for them at any time), hyper-accurate jetways for any aircraft, call for pushback trucks and crew, etc. etc. They're using a "credit" system to buy airport enhancement services. Anyone else have any thoughts on this thing (or perhaps already bought it?). http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=9557Check out the vids. They explained the product better than the text did.
