Thought I wouls share this with my fellow simmers. Something I have been doing for a while now. There's a site LiveATC.net that has alot of different live ATC links. I open the one that is closest or in the same state at least where I will be flying and minimize it start FS9 and there you go live ATC chatter for "FREE" while you fly....I'm sure some do this already but for those who did not know.I remeber in FS2000 I paid like $30 bucks for a program to play looped recorded ATC in the background....lol. Hope you like!P.S. A great man once told me - Aint nothin cheaper than "FREE" and in this modern world we live in of high priced add'ons this is a real steal.Ruben RomeroF…

I was over half way through a flight from KAX to JFK yesterday, when I realized that ATC had gone quite on me. It wasn't a case of getting an ATC saying "radar services terminated" you're on your own type message after having ignored an ATC instruction too many times. ATC simply stopped pestering me to change center frequencies every few minutes as it usually does. It only responded to me when I tried cancelling my IFR flightplan. When I tried to contact JFK's tower I inadvertantly hit the wrong key. After that not only couldn't I raise JFK's tower by manually setting the frequency, but FS2004 ATC system wouldn't allow me to contact Washington Center either. I coul…

When I fly a VFR flight plan that I've loaded in FS9, and I communicate with ATC, the pilot voice says the wrong cruise altitude. For example, I'll create a flight plan in FSNav with a cruise altitude of 5000 feet, export it to FS9, and load the plan as VFR. I'll be flying at 5000 feet, nowhere near any descent leg of the plan, but when I 'talk' to ATC the pilot voice will say something like, 'at 5000 feet, descending to 2100'. Where did the '2100' come from? I didn't set it in the flight plan, and I can't find anything in FSNav or FS9 that specifies this altitude anywhere, so why does the pilot voice keep using the wrong cruise altitude?Phil

I suggest that everybody running P.A.I. planes back up their (P.A.I.) files from off their prime internal hard drive a.s.a.p.My reading that the P.A.I. resource is gone prompted me to do so right away.BTW, there are great sales of late for WD's My Book Essential 500 GB USB-2 external drives. I just bought one a few days ago and can attest that it is an excellent platform for all your flight sim and general back-ups. Fast enough for no finger tapping to be required. :)With the 500 GB model, you can easily back up your entire internal hard drive with gobs of room to spare for other items.Trust me...a good tip.Mitch R.

I'm pleased to report I'm the proud owner of a little utility which converts FSX.PLN flightplan files to FS2004.PLN format. CoolFSX Flightplanner permits one to drag&drop the course line anywhere on the route-map to create a new waypoint. For those of us who prefer to fly FS2004 (but own FSX) this permits creating some nice VFR routes using FSX's FlightPlanner and converting and flying them in our flightsimulator-of-choice -- FS9. Thanks to the author.[/font size]

I have been struggling for two months now to end my stuttering problem in FS9. I am getting exceptional frame rates of 60+, but the simulator is choppy. Can someone explain what causes stutters? I have tried every suggestion given on these forums to fix the problem, but it has not gotten any better.

I've been having some system instability problems lately due to a bad stick of RAM and unfortunately I think a system crash affected my FS9 configuration. Each time I launch the sim I get two error messages about two scenery locations (scenery/cities/dallas in area .017 and .018) missing. Is there anyway to resolve this without having to nuke FS9 and reinstall it? Thanks.

I'll post the same question on Visual Flight's forum, but since I think it might be something driver-related (not sure) I put this up here first. Someone might have seen it already. When taxing to the Eastern side of Visual Flight's (London) EGLC I'm hit with a repeated trashing of the ground textures. It always happens closer to the eastern end of the runway, see here:http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p131/Dirk98/Washedout.jpg

Just curious, no flaming required here because if you do, I'm kinda like Chuck Norris and I'm also pretty big deal so watch out. I'm a VC fanatic myself, the immersion factor in a VC for me is amazing, it's like looking around a real plane when they are done right, and you have realtime realistic eye/head movement as opposed to a 2d panel where you only get views at 45 degree intervals. Again, I'm not knocking 2D panel lovers, but I must say I feel that 2D panels do not simulate a 3D cockpit environment as well as a VC. Also, I've heard some say that VCs are "cartoonish." I couldn't disagree more, infact I've included two screenshots one of a 2D panel, the other of a …

I'm looking to buy my first plane for fs9. I'd like a good single engine prop, faster than a Cessna 172, with good looking interiors and exteriors, good flight mechanics, and won't break the bank.Suggestions? Thanks

While using both ActiveSky (enhanced with Flight Environment) and weather data downloaded from within FS2004 I was shocked at the tremendous hit the frame rate took everytime a lot of big fluffy balls of cloulds appeared (going from the 30s to low 40 fps to less than 10! This really didn't seem to be a problem at FL320 but a frame rate that low during an approach could prove fatal! Can ActiveSky and/or FS2004 be tweeked to maximize frame rate when clouds are present?I must say that the lightening visible at one point was fantastic! The most realistic weather I've seen so far!

Is Flight 1 no longer supporting UT? I downloaded a schedule update 3 months ago without any problem. When I tried to see if a new schedule was available, I couldn't find the web page I'd used before. I may be not been looking the right place, however. If anyone got a schedule update since the first of the year I'd appreciate if you could clue me in to where to look for it!

This error has plagued me for months. I have searched though the Avsim files and it seems that it is not uncommon.I have tried everything including installing a clean version of FS9,which should have eliminated and problems with scenery or other addons.I continued to receive the same dll error on a random basis.I decided it had to be a hardware problem and gave the case fans heat sinks etc a good cleanout. While testing the fans I noticed that the graffics card fan was working only spasmodically. I fixed this loose connection had after several hours of simming have had no further problems. My conclusion is that the overheating of the card was causing the crashes. BlissRic…

Hey all,I am having a problem with Chris Jeanne's wonderful 737NG panel. Each time I use a plane with the panel, after a little while (usually while I'm sitting waiting for takeoff, although it's happened while flying too) the panel just "shuts off". It's almost like I have turned the avionics off, all the screens go blank and I need to re-select the aircraft in the aircraft menu. Anyone know what the problem is and how I can fix it?Thanks,Matt

Is there any program that displays metar information on a map, like InfoMetar did for Fly?I know there are some websites that will display metar info on maps, but I'm talking about metar data that I've previously downloaded and would like to view offline. This would make it easier to do flight planning in FS.Phil

To all please help!I have finaly got the Dreamfleet bonanza installed after hours of trying to get the Reality-xp trainer installed. The only way I can use the aircraft is starting a fresh flight with defualt cessna and then switching to the bonaza on the ground. If I create a flight with the bonanza and press start fs9 goes away and i am looking at my desktop?.....Then I go to shut down my computer for the night and it says that the xp400 somthing or other will not allow a file to close. Can someone who has figured out the way to neatly install this plane help me out......From what I have done in touch and go's this plane is awsome....I just dont want to destroy my pc tr…

Hi,I have noticed for a while now that on every flight I do I end up being early by around 30 minutes. I have not done a flight over 4 hours but I can imagine that I may be even more ahead of schedual on a long flight.I always check and run the real world prevailing winds with Active Sky 6 and use a cost index of either around 50. I always plan my route using route finder. Surely something is wrong here. I would expect to be early some of the time but not all of the time. Can anyone shed any light on this?CheersAndy S

Is there a way to change the active runway in FS2002/2004? While setting up a flight plan from LAX to JFK I put my plane on the active at LAX by using the Move to Airport option and it set me down on 7L. The problem is most, if not all, landings into and departures out of LAX are westward over the ocean due to noise abatement requirements. ATC also has you take off from and land on the wrong runway at Ontario (8L instead of 26R). How do I get the tower to use the correct runways?
