I have no intention of upgrading any time soon to Microsoft Flight Simulator X because my PC's specifications won't handle the software and I'm not buying a new computer. Besides, I've spent nearly five years builing up a large collection of freeware and commercial addons for FS2004 and I'm not going to waste time and money starting now all over again with expensive FSX upgrades. Hi people,A couple of weeks ago I think I saw on this very forum a topic regarding how to get FS9 ATC to display but only when they are communicating messages to you. When I fly some aircraft the engine noise is so imense that i cant here the ATC so I enable the ATc text but it gets annoying sometimes as I have lots of AI especially around London and the endless pop ups I get when they do not apply to me. Does anyone know how I can do this? I think If I remember correctly that it can be done with a tweak to the FS9.cfg, but cant find the thread now so am not sureThanks in advanceNick

I recently re-installed FS2004 like I've done several times before. I loaded the game up and everything worked great - until ActiveSky loaded the weather. Man, as soon as my clouds loaded up, my game came to a screeching stop. This is a simulation, not a powerpoint presentation!I've tried everything known to man from replacing the cumulus01 texture file with a reduced sized one to reconfiguring the FS9.cfg file and nothing works. Apoligies if this is not the correct forum to be posting this.I recently downloaded and installed the new samdim An-24. I began to test it when i discovered at rotation, i could not takeoff at all, barely even lift the nosewheel off the tarmac!What the...!? At first i though it was to do with the autopilot being on, no. Elevator trim, no. Anything else, no. All controls work, but don't lift the plane. I have tried everything with no success. I have had this problem before with other aircraft which has been unresolveable but i'd really like to fly this great model.Please get back to me as soon as possible, thanks.

Quick question: Is there a maximum number for the variants ([fltsim.x] entries) in any one aircraft.cfg file? This question applies to AI use.Thanks,Geoff

Hi all,I recently changed my graphics card from Nvidia 8800GTS to ATI HD3870 (much cooler, lower power consumption). Performance-wise there should be no difference, at least in most of the games. But now I have the problem that with Antialiasing turned on and some or lots of clouds in the FS2004-sky, Framerates drop to 3 to 10, very choppy flying. My previous 8800GTS produces 15 FPS at worst under the same conditions and with all picture quality features turned on. My config:Athlon X2 5400+2GB RAM22" Widescreen with 1680x1050Any HD3870-users with same experiences here? Or any hints what could be wrong?Thanks,Chris

can some just briefly explain how do I know when Im established on the localizer.

For my AI traffic I am missing a few of the US Airways Express planes in the new livery:Dash 8-200Dash 8-300Canadair CRJ-700I don't mind which eaxct carrier the models depict (Mesa or Piedmont or whoever), as I'd simply take the livery and do several planes with different entries and callsigns with the same livery. Also, I am missing these ones, but I understand they don't even exist in reality:Embraer ERJ-145Embraer ERJ-170Beech B1900Still, I'd take them if they exist.Thanks for pointing me to any repaints that may exist, I am indifferent to the "base model" (PAI, CDAI, Aardvark, whatever).ThanksMozart

I have tried out the demo of FSPassengers and was fairly pleased with it. Im wondering what others are using along the lines of 'passengers' flight addons- and your opinions of them. Is FSCrew any better? Are there other software aside from those two tha provide 'passenger' flights?Many thanks in advance!

Well...wanting to move on in my flight simming, I decided to learn the Vatsim process. I originally installed Squawkbox but FS9 would crash every time I connected to Vatsim.I then installed FSInn and FSCopilot, initially without uninstalling Squawkbox. I noticed when I loaded a flight up, my keyboard was not working or my joystick.I uninstalled Squawkbox, and I am able to use my joystick but nothing happens with my keyboard. My cursor works but I am not able to press any buttons on the panel.Any Ideas? I have FS9 and XP. I haven't had any problems until today. I appreciate any advice.

I recently upgraded to a new system and, somewhat hesitantly, Windows Vista. I was fairly successful at installing and tweaking FS9 on my new computer but there's one problem I haven't been able to solve. I can only run FS9 in full-screen mode (I read other posts where users have had the same problem). I don't mind that so much but for some reason when in full-screen I get grainy and unusual textures, especially at night. During both day and night the sky textures, for example, do not blend together. Hello I thought i would try this query again as got no joy before.I have the very nice PSPanels freeware panel in all my 737/700,800 and 900s all works fine but i am sure the wind direction arrow is reading incorrectly.If i use shift z to bring up the FS9 display of speed,wind direction etc the speed shown matches the display in the panel,but the direction is completely different,somebody suggested magnetic variation or suchlike before,but i think its just wrong.There must be plenty of PSPanels users out there so let me know what you think please when you use the panel and compare the panel reading to the SHIFT Z reading.cheers Andy

Good day; I am using the great LIMC and LIRF sceneries from ISD. I downloaded a patch that would animate some of the jet ways , by tuning the ADF 1 to the desired frequency. After replacing the .bgl files as requested, I can't find these gates in the airport menu. Altough this patch was for compatability with a PMDG product, the documentation stated that these gates will work with any aircraft. I've tried all the gates designated as 'heavy' but the adf frequncy doesn't activate anything. I must have missed something! Has anyone else had this problem? Cheers!

Hi guys,I have done a search of the forums (if anybody can find thread feel free to link) I have a Multi (4) monitor setup.3 x monitors via Triple head and 1 x monitor off the other head of the vid card.1) I start up FS20042) go into windowed mode3) undock and drag all the panels (LevelD) down to the panel monitor4) go Fullscreen5) Drag the outside view down to fill the top 3 monitors6) save the flight/situationwhen I restart all the panels are back on the top three monitors - how do I get them to stay where I put them?Or can this only be done in windowed mode?Any help would be greatScott

I've been thinking about buying 3 monitors for a 3 monitor setup. I fly about 70% of flight in the outside "spot" view and 30% inside for the cotpit view. As you know, it only takes one keyboard click to alternate between the two views and I change back and forth about every 5 minutes. The question: How long does it take and how do you change between 3 inside views and 3 outside views? The answer to this question will probably make me decide to stick with 1 monitor or go ahead and buy three. Thanks for your help. jerrycwo4

Well my wife is gone to work tonight, ny daughter goes to bed in about three hours, So perfect night to take my Leveld 767 along with my fs passengers from kmia to tncm.First time there so im looking forward to that crazy approach so to speak. Should be fun.
