I went away from FS9 for six months or so, and now I'm back, but it's stuck at about 8 FPS. Every flight and every aircraft, both default and add-on. The sim used to hold at about 24 FPS, but now it doesn't get over 8.I killed off as many background processes as I can, and discovered that when I run FS9, the CPU usage runs right up to 100% and stays locked there. Obviously, this has something to do with why I'm only getting 8 FPS. When I exit FS9, the CPU usage goes back down to between 0% and 7%.I haven't installed any new aicraft, and I have no 3rd party scenery installed.(1) What could have happened to FS9 that it would suddenly max out my CPU whereas before it did…

Hi, folks!Since switching over from an ATI card to a GeForce 8800GTX a week or so ago the text in the ATC window, "Parking Brakes On" warning banner, etc., is almost unreadable. Does anyone know how I could sharpen them up a bit? If this were an ATI Radeon I'd know how by simply switching off the alternate pixel preference in the CCC control panel, but I'm lost with the nVidia card. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know what gates the service armada works with the SimFlyers Las Vegas scenery? I can't find it in the documentation. Any help is appreciated.Bob

I have had no real success in finding a listing of newly opened airports since FS9 (2004) was created. I can pick up the occasional new airport but cannot locate and really useful site for my needs of those that have opened over the last five years.I have been able to find a listing of proposed future airports and proposed future expansions, both at Wikipedia, but not recently opened airports. Does anyone know of a site that would point me in the right direction?Many thanksMike

Hi,How do you folks have your AI Smooth configured? I've pretty much left the default settings but looking at them, they could use some changes, I think. I messed with it once before and got it all screwed up so I just reinstalled it. Doesn't look like there's an option to 'restore defaults'. I want to extend the time gap between landing aircraft and stuff like that. Any suggestions?Thanks

I recently purchased the Dreamfleet Dakota for FSX (More than highly recommended).Thanks to the Dakota, the light finally came on for the Dreamfleet Baron 58 RXP in FS9 (Again, more than highly recommended).I never realized and took advantage of all of the wonderful capabilities of the Garmin GPS in the Baron until I decided to dive in deeply with the Dakota. WHAT AN OMMISION ON MY PART! Makes me wonder what else I have overlooked. I just finished reading Computer Pilot

It might be me failing in forum searching, but I haven't found many post about this.I'm very tempted to buy the FSAvidyne package from Flight1. It looks really good to me. I'm using RXP gauges in most of the planes I use and I have come somewhat addicted to smooth and well working gauges, particulary primary and navigation instruments. I'm doing ok with retrofitting panels, since I have fitted RXP equipment in most of the planes I often fly, if they are suitable for it. Back on topic, I can see there is a flightsimmer dedicated package and a training package. I'm interested in opinions on both...CheersPeter

HiRecently, I have noticed that FS9 takes longer to load up to the welcome screen. After that, when I load a flight and I select an runway, the bar stays long (apparently, maybe 1-4secs) at 0% displaying "loading scenery object", the rest of the process being quite quick.What could be the reason? Hello,Is there a parameter that controls the distance from the aircraft position where the highest ground detail begins to display?I have what used to be a fast system (by todays standards it is not!. I run FS9.1 with all sliders set to max and my FPS is about 24. I am using Ultimate Terrain for USA, Canada and Europe. Also using all FSGENESIS mesh for the same areas. It seems to me that the ground detail changes to its higest level when I am very close to it - no idea of the distance but it is hard to get good airport runway display at a distance. It seems to be a bother when the weather is bad and visibility is poor.Thanks in advance for any help here and cheers,Ron Sag…

Hello all,Just reinstalled FS9 and some addons on my newly-built PC with a 24 inch monitor and running at 1600x1200 (to keep the correct aspect ratio).I've noticed that all 2D panels (addons & MS) don't completely cover the background thus leaving a thin strip of the background on the edges. Some panels are better than others though. This is annoying because you can see the scene moving in the back.Has anyone had this problem? What should I do to fix it?Thanks in advance!!

I'm excited to say that I believe I've cured my OOM errors. I just completed the flight that I always receive an OOM on descent.I use PMDG747, Ultimate Terrain USA v1.30 and the FSG Mesh patch; FSG mesh for the entire world, Ultimate Traffic at 85%, ActiveCamera. (I run ActiveSky and FSCommander on the Client PC using WideFS.)I have all the UT USA settings ON except Bridge and Tunnel Roads and Lights.Solution: boot using the /3GB switch, /userva=2900 (to allow my 8800 GT 512MB drivers to load), and then modify the FS9.exe to allow >2GB Address set.YEAH!!James

Morning - I hope some one can help me with the frame rate drop I am getting after 2 or 3 minutes of either flight or sitting on the tarmac.When I load the default cessna at seattle I get my usual 25FPS after a while (2 or 3 mins) the frame drops to 4FPS. This happens whether in the default aircraft or addon aircraft, it doesnt make a difference if the cockpit is 2d or VC, does it at all airports I have tried and also happens with no traffic and the display sliders all minimised.The frame rate returns to 25 after alt tabbing out of fs2004 or if I press the alt key, but after a while back it goes to around 4 FPS.Does anyone know whats causing this and how to fix it, or is a…

Does anybody know the cause of this problem? It is an FSP 777 model - the only one I have. I have seen on a copuple of occasions where it taxi's in this position until it has to stop when it returns to normal - all wheels on ground. Has anyone here had luck contacting Captain Sim recently, perhaps within the last two weeks? I have been getting an error trying to re-install the 757, but my e-mails go unanswered. I know there website is under repair/upgrade/whatever you want to call it, but does that mean no one is responding to e-mails?

I understand there's software out there that improves the appearance of weather in FS2004 and makes it almost photo-realistic. I can't keyword it because I don't know the name.If you know the product and believe those fancy visuals kill frame rates by all means let me know...

Hello all, I have a couple of AFCAD parking issues;I have been doing a bit of AI housekeeping in the last week or so and have updated alot of my plans for the summer, however when I started to update some airlines I noticed that it effected the parking arranngements at EGLL, for example I have updated my Virgin Atlantic plans and aircraft are now parking in some spaces which they would never before. The VIR parking code is in the space but for some reason FS seems to be choosing different spaces as preference for VIR aircraft over others. I'm using Ansari's KLGA and an afcad with all runways active for both arrival and departure, verified this with the Afcad editor.I was on arrival to KLGA and Radar Contact's ATIS said the wind was 210 @ 14kts, landing and departing runway 22, etc. All is fine and good. Then when I on the approach freq, it again tells me to expect vectors to runway 22. Immediately after it said "expect vectors to runway 22" it changed it's mind and said "expect vectors to runway 4" (which is obviously the other end of the same runway surface). I immediately checked the ATIS again and it was still saying runway 22. I requested runway 22 from RCv4.3 and it told me unable because of traf…
