Was wondering if the opinion of most users is that they would like to migrate to FSX but are remaining with FS9 due to PC limitations and / or their current investment in FS9 add-ons. My current PC specs are: P4 3.6 mhz, 3GB ram, with an ATI X800 XT 256MB vidcard and a pretty basic FS9 installation. I would like to purchase some payware aircraft and scenery enhancements (UTUSA, GE Pro, FS Genesis mesh,etc.) but am not sure whether the investment in FS9 add-ons is worthwhile if I plan to upgrade my PC in approx. 12 months to a more FSX capable machine.Thanks.

I have the MD-11 for FSX, but in my constant search for top knotch performance, FSX is quickly becoming my GA sim while FS9 remains my preferred Airline simulator.What will I be missing with the FS9 version of the PMDG MD-11?I know each aircraft is the same cost, so I am hoping not much. Here's the setup...I've got a folder called FS9 on my root directory C:/FS9....also located on C:/ is a folder called flight simulator files...which I thought would contain the saved flights plus UI and Previous. For some reason, vista 64 wants to save the flight at C:/users/administrator/documents/flight simulator files. Even if I delete the folder in users/admin/docs, it recreates the folder when I go into FS9 and attempt to save a new default flight (over the existing C172 at KSEA).I have a folder called flight simulator files in FS9 but it doesn't go there, the saved flight always goes to users/admin/documents/flight simulator--and consequently won't save a new defa…

Now that MS released Service Pack 2 for Vista, I'd like to know how was your experience with it.---------------------I'll start by telling mine:I felt the install was faster than the one for SP1, despite it's larger size (Windows Update said 65MB for SP1, 350 MB for SP2). On loading I get this message. I run my computer as the administrator (only one using it). UAC is disabled. Even if I start it with "run as administrator I still get this damn message. Any ideas how to get around it? Running Vista 64 ultimate.

In FS9.1 I have a doubling of two bridges in the UK, the Forth and the Severn. The only add-on scenery I have in these areas are the airports, Edinburgh and Bristol and the designer assures me he doesn't do bridges!The Forth bridges are parallel to each other but the Severn bridges intersect in a sort of cross.I have Ultimate Terrain Europe and Ground Environment Pro II which I don't think should affect this. Why has this happened and, more to the point, how do I eliminate the surplus bridges, please?Iain Smith

Hi all, first of all its nice to see the forums back and well done to avsim! I would like your advise on pss a320 guys, i know its dated now but im fed up with wilcos a320 and all the bugs so wondered if pss is any good and if it runs on vista.Im not a pro with pc's so project airbus would be difficult for me to assemble and now the file library is down virtually impossible so any ideas or oppinions would be greatly appreciated. FRF Studio has just released the update to Version 2 of Delhi, India. Some AI issues were corrected. You can get the whole v2.1 or just the update files for v2.Get it here.Calcutta is due for June release as well.

i am basically finished with the overall design of my RPLL airport except for one thing, the lighting of aprons.as a start, i made some research on how others did it and the most effective way i feel, due to the size of the airport, is using effects and XML file. i have gone through several codes from other sources to test it in my scenery before doing my own thing. the problem is nothing shows up. i tried putting a windsock in it and it works, but for some reason, lighting the ground does not work at all. i tried removing the exclude files and still nothing works. i have checked and double checked the text on the XML file and still nothing works. i tried putting the ramp…

I am sort of looking for some direction lately with regard to flight simming. I have found myself spending more time and money trying to get things to "work" than I do actually enjoying the hobby itself. I own all the latest flight simulators and have tried each extensively, yet I cannot fully settle on one at the moment. I need to narrow it down to one version because I do buy payware and I cannot afford to buy things that I don't use. Firstly, my apologies if this has been discussed in the past, I was not able to turn up any results doing a forum search.I built my first PC last year and chose an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66 ghz as my processor. Now I understand FS9 does not utilize more than a single core and there is no viable way to make it run on several cores at once. However, I do run a multitude of other programs in the background including but not limited to Active Sky, Smooth AI, and other flight-sim related software. When I check the processor core usage, Core 1 runs at 100% while the three remaining cores are not loaded past 2%. Would it be possible for me to assign FS9 to run on one of these…

I will start off by saying that I am currently running Vista64 with FS9.1. My video card is an NVidia 7950 GX2. My problem is as follows:I can run FS9 without a hitch. However, when I attempt to move any window (FSNAV, especially FSINN, MSFS Checklists, etc) to my second monitor I run into problems. Primarily one of two things happens.#1 When I start MSFS my second monitor will continue to display the desktop#2 When I start MSFS my second monitor will go blank/blackWhen I attempt to move something to the second monitor (i.e. FSINN 1.3 CP) the window will not display, assume the image of the desktop (no buttons will display etc), or cause the second screen to flicker from …

Is there such a thing as an FS9 add-on routine that would automatically adjust Scenery Complexity &/or AutoGen Density based on Frame Rate changes? For example, if FPS dropped below a threshold setting of 20 (or your choice), Scenery Complexity would automatically reduce as necessary, to compensate and maintain the specified minimum frame rate. Or similar for AutoGen. Or even both adjusted in tandem as necessary?Sounds simple-? Any experts out there? Alex Reid

Hi,I have been getting CTD's whilst flying on UL607 always when 40miles North West of ALGOI intersection. Does anyone else have this same problem, and if so is there anything I can check to stop this. I dont think its anything to do with the Scenery files I have as I disabled all addons and still had the same CTD. I have a suspicion its the flight plan that FS simply does not like.Any help would be appreciated.Keith

Howdy folks,I know the IMC issue with FS9/X has been beat to death. But the fact is that's how I like to fly into airports. I started simming with Charles Gulick back in 88. (Happy 20 years to me) I found that for me the IMC flying was the most challenging. I still like to fly the Dakota to waypoints that are DME intersections and then flying a low ceiling ILS. I then use FS Flight Keeper to see how well I did tracking my course and how close I was to hitting the waypoint. Ahhhhhh...nothing like flying with a few VOR/DME's, NDB, ILS, and hands on the yoke. So I noticed a few days ago that Heli-Traffic 2009 had released an update that made it FS9 compatible. I immediately went for it and had a few problems with my initial install and could not get it up and running. I found the Heli-Traffic support forum and found others experiencing similar problems but also found a very responsive support team in the forums. After a couple of days of trying and a couple of beta builds they got everything up and running this morning and all I can say is TOO COOL!I just chased A Bell JetRanger down the NJ Turnpike at 100 MPH for like 20 miles :) What a great new level of realism within FS9 to see AI choppers in the air with you as well. …

Hi there,I recently installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I have done so based upon findings in this forum about suffering OOM. It has been a month now and I can say that it has worked out quiet well. I don't have to worry about pressing Alt+Enter and switchto the windowed mode if I choose to. Or get a blue screen after 2 hours across the atlantic. Until now.
