I recently bought a new laptop with vastly improved performance for my trusty FS9. I re-installed the same FSPassengers(FSP) product that I used on my previous FS9 installation on the previous PC. The only difference is that the new PC uses Windows Vista. As the FSP installation set-up was done a Vista window popped up telling me that the installation MIGHT not have been completed correctly. It gave me the option of re-installing with the Windows recommended settings or another which simply stated "No, the program was installed correctly". Hello all, Ive been away from fs9 for some months, been too busy lately but i would like to start with a fresh install of fs9. I want to keep my addons to a minimum so to keep fs9 running good and not gumming it up if you will.My question is what addons you feel are a neccesity to make fs9 look good.Sorry for asking this as im sure it has been asked many times and dont want to post useless stuff, but i just cant seem ti get the search function working for me.Thank you

So I wonder if this can be done. I have Fs9 and all my addons working just the way i like them on my old Athlon 2ghz with 3200 ram. Its setup on a Raid0 with 2 Raptors. This computer was dedicate to flightsimming only and is about 50GB in size.Can I image the entire drive/s, then build a new up to date comp with a single HD and then place that image on that single HD? I'm unning XP. The end result would be my favorite Fs9 running alongside FSx. I could fly whichever sim I want.If not possible, then please give me some suggestions to keep my Fs9 efforts and get them onto a new up to date computer. Still in the initial throws of new computer, new OS, and FS9 reinstall. I fixed the issue of clicking on the icon bar causes a crash (Vista 64 Ultimate). I loaded the fonts so that EHSI and ADI symbology loads. I've been starting FS9 from the default C-172 at KSEA, then I select JF 757 Pro, and I get this in the picture:The symbology will show fine for a few seconds then goes to black background only like the pic. Even if I crank engines and turn all electrics on, the left MFDs remain balck. On the setup icon I selected startup with engines off. I also saved the default 737 with engines running at KSEA, then loaded 757 with engines running, and it works fine. It's…

Hi Avsim, good to see you back! I'm in the market for a nice 737 add-on for FS9. I've narrowed it down to 2 obvious candidates, the PMDG 737NG and the PIC 737. There's a similar topic over at fl*ghtsim.com which seems to sit on the fence somewhat. I have a high regard for PMDG products, but from what I've read the PIC 737 is a little more realistic and detailed. What bothers me slightly about the PIC are the numerous debates about FPS that raged up to a year ago over at the support forum. I have prepared an FSX patch for Mark Smith's Bremerton FS2004 scenery for my own use, and I e-mailed him last Friday to get his permission to upload and share with others. I've installed/reinstalled FS9 and JF 757 Pro several times now...followed the advice of putting FS9 on C:/FS9 in Vista 64...I have admin rights with UAC etc turned off. Here's the recurring issue: I load JF 757 initially in FS9 menu, load a saved flight from FSBuild, have AS6.5 running in the background...the 2D cockpit comes up as it should--turn apu on etc....the thin ICON BAR that loads at the top of the screen (ped, set, cdu, efis, etc), I normally just click and drag the ICON BAR and reposition on the glareshield brim...ok so when I simply click in the icon bar, and begin to drag..poof...FS9 shuts down completely...does not come back...simply goes to the vista equ…

I will help you make the most of V.1 without buying 2.0 unless you want to spend more money :)1. buy friendly panels FMC pack2. Install it3. look in the fmc config file of the lear45_fmc for the fmc you want to add to your citation.4. replace the code to use the default GPS with the code for the fmc and there you have it.5. now load and fly.Yes you will spend some money on the fmc pack from friendly panels but i find it easier to do this than to put a big big hole in my wallet as i do not have that much case to spend on payware. it is cheaper to do this if you are on a budget.

I've noticed a strange and new problem in the past week. The illumination of the runway by landing/taxi, etc. lights has an ENORMOUS impact on frame rates. I can't understand why or what I've installed to do this. Sitting on the ground at Atlanta in the Level-d 76', landing lights OFF I get 30 FPS in the VC. Switch them on and I'm down to 15 or so. System: XP Media SP3 Pentium D 2.8 NVIDIA 8500GT (185.85) 512mb, 3Gb Ram... I'm guessing I've installed something that replaced the original Lnd. light textures. Where/what file concerns these so I can replace with the original? :(

I just wanted to say How happy i am to have you all back. I was not sure what I would do without Avsim if it ever came to pass, and now i should just slap myself for even thinking that avsim would just give up and move on. I am now going to get more involved in things now that we are back on line and I will try to contribute something to the library when it is restored and running right.By the way i have been using avsim since 2000 and have found a great bunch of folks who have a great love in flight sim and all it's headaces. Keep up the work and I will stay with avsim form now on.

I would like to know more about this scenery and how to expect explicitily in FS9 (in FSX it's a lost case for me). I have seen a review of it but that was for FSX also i think the screenshots are from FSX. So how does it look in FS9 and even more important how is the performence? I have a fear that it might be useless because of blurries. Hi folks,I currently run XP x64 and have got myself a copy of the Windows 7 RC (64 bit edition) which I'm probably going to set up for a bit of fun this weekend - just to see what it's like... It will be on a separate disk to avoid problems and I will set this disk to be "invisible" to XP...If I want to try and test with FS9, without damaging my installation under XP, do I need install FS9 under Windows 7 separately onto the testing disk or can I direct W7 to the original copy - ie. can FS9 exist in the registries of both OS and have two different fs9.cfg files etc.? Conventional wisdom seems to be that for low and slow- FSX beats FS9.To test that thesis, I recently did a multi leg flight through the BC Coast Mtns. It's an area I know quite well from 4x4ing many of the mountain logging roads years ago.I can certify that FS9 with Can/AK Ultimate Terrain & Ground Environment, is pretty accurate as to detail and, with a 45" wide view on triple monitors, you really are there as you coax your plane thru' winding mountain passes.What you see in these tiny "postcards" (AVSIM screenie restriction) is about 10% of what my eyes receive. That's 90% more pixels or 3072 x 768 resolultion! And these tiny pics make everything seem like looking t…

I recently re-formmated my pc and I re-installed FS9. When I went to use it I found that when I try to look the the left or right in the 2d Cockpit using the 7,4,1,2,3,6 or 9 num lock keys the 2d panel stays in place then it shows me the top half of the view and will not go back to the forward view. The view also freezes but the sound continues.Could Some please help? :)Thanks Andy

Hi everyone!I just spent the last two hours looking at all the posts regarding the future of FS9, and I have to say the the outcome is encouraging :-) I also use FS9 and if some of you posting here considdered your pc as below par, mine is even worse: a P4 3 GHz wit 1GB RAM and a 256 MB Geforce 6200 8X AGP. Yet I can run it with all the sliders flatout and using quality add-ons like PMDG's 747 and 737 software. I also run a very large volume of AI traffic packages and always use real world weather and I also fly online with VATSIM. I never get less than 20 fps even at KORD (which is a real frame rate killer!) and all the other big airports. My average fps is aro…
