Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum

Hi Folks I hope someone can help me with the following problem. I run P3Dv3 with Win 7. I can open P3D and get to the front page. But, when I select a flight or a saved flight as soon as I click on OK P3D throws up the message 'a fatal error occurred'. Does anybody know what is causing this please? Thanks John

Hi all, I was flying a longhaul earlier, stepped away for a bit, and about 5 hours in the sim just closed out. No error message and no Event Viewer log either. I did get a dxdiag in the appdata folder which doesn't seem to point to anything too authoritative, but maybe a failed windows update was the culprit? A bit confusing I think! If anyone could take a look... could this also be a scenery error or something? Having just taken a look at the windows update log though... it looks like Windows decided 2:29 AM was a lovely time to do the updates... and lo and behold it crashed the sim...

I had a PC crash and had to reset to factory which means a completely clean drive. For the past week I have been re-installing programs everything is working except FSX-SE when I try to start it from Steam I get a Microsoft error. Can anyone help? Twice I now have had a CTD that EventVwr cannot point what is causing a CTD. Windows 10 Pro/ 4.2Ghz/GTX970/16Gb RAM P3Dv4.1/PMDG 737-600/ASN/Little NavMap Night flying, then all of a sudden. Zap, CTD. Luckily I have FSUIPC which I have not updated to 4.1.Could that be a cause?

Hi Folks, Been having fits with P3Dv3 (last version) lately... I'm aware of the MS OS issue - but - I had it working just by having my flight start with the Piper Cub at a default airport - - - then switching to what I wanted to fly... Just started having a new issue last night - last thing I did was load Bill Womack's new scenery which included SODE setup - I do not have any indication that it is actually related to my problem though... Hi, getting really fed up now. All of a sudden P3D keeps crashing for numerous reasons, despite reducing settings, recreating the cfg and scenery cfg's etc. This evening I got a terrain.dll CTD into Geneva, despite reducing my mesh resolution and tesselation factor. I don't know whether this is to do with Orbx Europe but since I had it installed I successfully complete flights near mountains without getting a CTD. It's only in the last month that they've popped up and it's getting very frustrating as 50% of my flights crash. I've follow the CTD guide but nothing seems to be fixed. Hi, I have received several CTD's yesterday and the day before. The crashes occur random, but mostly after I loaded the aircraft (any A/C - Aersoft Airbus, QW 757 or 787) and begin to program the FMC. The error message is something like: " a error occured and Flight simulator must shut down". I looked in the event viewer a find several entries pointing to Ultimate Traffic 2. Some of us have been experiencing CTD when P3Dv3.4 load to 100% on startup. It has been linked, but not proven, that the latest Windows 7/10 security update (KB4038788) is causing this. Some users have had some success by removing this update and running Prepar3D, but, this is not a permanent fix. Lockheed Martin are aware of the problem and have started a special thread(listed below). Can users that are having this problem post their Appcrash or Eventviewer logs or take note of the offending module and report it on the LM website using the link below. Hi pilots, I am experiencing some crashes. with Prepared3D Version 3.4.22.19868. P3D stops responding randomly. I am using the latest ASN with all latest updates. Using Obex south of England scenery. And I always install the NGX PMDG 737 I have recently installed a new windows system. I am hoping that the info below might hint at a potential problem. This morning I was greeted with another MS windows 10 update....which resulted in a CTD just after the scenario loaded. I am running P3D V3.4 (my app crash report is linked below if anyone is interested). This is the second month in a row where a forced update has crashed my sim. Last month it was security update KB4038788; this time around its security update KB4041676. I uninstalled the update and disabled it from future installs which appears to have fixed the problem for the short term. Just wish there was a better solution than avoiding updates. Hey guys Basically everytime I fire up FSX, I get 35 mins max time on fsx before it crashes. I have read numerous forums and taken lots of advice, the biggest being to not install FSX into my C drive. I tried installing it to my D drive but steam wouldn't allow me to saying there was insufficient space (I'm not sure how because I have 23gb free space in that drive). So for now it's in the C drive and keeps crashing. I have tried tweaking my cfg file using the numerous tools out there but with no success. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Hello, just now i suffered an unexpcted crash with FSXSE. I tookoff about 7hrs ago from OMDB (Flytampa scenery), flying with my PMDG Triple 7 on ivao. Few seconds ago i've just landed at EHAM (Flytampa scenery), vacated runway, i crashed. That wasnt an OOM error since my vas monitor freezed after crash at avg 1Gb remaining. FSX SE just crashed mid flight for me. When i tried to start up the sim later it just refuses to start. When i start the game it shows me the startup screen, asks me if i want to start Chaseplane, as it normally does, then i get an error message from windows and then FSX closes. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I've never experienced it before. Thanks in advance

Hi again, After fixing the issue of the Windows update etc, I thought I had fixed the issue of my random CTD's during my flights. I was during a flight tonight from JustSim's EDDH to Heathrow on VATSIM, during CTP in my Aerosoft A320. It was a night flight (all these random CTD's have occurred during the evening/night) and I was at my cruising level, looking out the window at some passing traffic above me. All of a sudden P3D freezes, sound continues and then closes on its own, without the swirling blue circle or the popup notifying me of the crash. Checked the Event Viewer, nothing there at all. This faulting module is beginning to get so aggravating. Twice, now, flights have been curtailed to CTD due to this module.Had I not had FSUIPC auto-saving my flights, I think I'd just pack up flightsimming altogether! Is this what the so-called saviour of flightsimiiming---P3Dv4.1 64-bit code---has brought us down to? Over Eastern Coast of USA heading to KMCO. PMDG 747-400, ASP4. No scenery add-ons, bang, CTD! EDIT: After a re-boot to clear the DLLs, and discarding ASP4, yet another CTD, ntdll.dll, same place on the flight track. Only have Orbx Global.So, am going to try uninstalling that to narrow down what is causing this really irksome CTD.

Can someone please help me understand why this add-on aircraft will not work in P3Dv4? From what I understand, Prepar3D is compatible with FSX add-ons in most cases. It works in FSX with no issues. I'm attempting to convert it over with little luck. The aircraft appears in the aircraft selection menu without a preview, but I am able to select it. However, when I try to start the flight the screen goes black and the program crashes.

Getting almost constant StackHash/Exception Code 0374 (Heap Corruption) errors. Was trying to load PMDG747 at Taxi2Gate St Louis. CTD everytime while trying to program FMC. Deleted P3D.cfg and restarted and let the sim rebuild. Changed texture resolution from 1024 to 4096 and AA from 2xMSAA to 2xSSAA. No other changes. Flew from KSTL to KIAD successfully. FSUIPC log showed the following: Minimum frame rate was 22.9 fps, Maximum was 218.5 fps Average frame rate for running time of 4137 secs = 61.6 fps Bottom line - in my case the settings were too high.

It has come to my notice that while crossing the pond, Atlantic ocean and entering Canada specific near New foundland area and near hudson bay, P3D crashes to Desktop with the NTDLL Error. This is my 3rd time crossing the Atlantic and all three times I have faced this issue. I do quite a few long haul flights but this specific region is having issues. A similar issue was observed in Russia region in V3. I havnt flown that route in v4 yet. This issue needs to be addressed asap. i am currently using pmdg 777+rex+pta+asp4+orbx ftx+vecotr+ Open Lc na. Hello everyone, I have a rather weird problem with two Carenado aircraft. The Bonanza A36 delivered with P3D V4 and the CJ2 both make P3D crash - but only if more than 310 scenery layers (count according to P3D scenery library) are installed. Imagine the fun trying to find that mistake... Sometimes there is a Windows error message pointing to atc.dll, less often ai_player.dll. It doesn't matter which scenery is installed last. I installed a fresh copy of Prepar3D V4 Professional Plus to my desktop. However, the windows error message saying that prepar3d.exe has stopped working and it automatically closes the program. I tried reinstalling it but it was no use.. Please somebody help..
