Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum

Today I got an mfc70.dll ctd while taxiing to take off.Any ideas what causes it guys?FS9.1XPFeel there EMB-170ASAFS NavLOWW defaultAll of which have been fine before. Any help/advice much appreciated.

It seem very difficult why this happens. Off course I have tried to follow instructions on espand the ram. An tried to remove conflicting afx files with Airport Scanner.exeThe scenery is loaded and it looks wonderfull and then after af 30 s. HiWhat is that who cause the CTD in general? Are the mostly HDD failures or some program that is in conflict? Best regard Fredrik

After landing I have been getting a crash, one of the was api.dll, another was msvcr80.dll, the later was a bex error according to the message. This happened at dusk, I dont know if it will happen any other time but dusk is the only time I have landed latley. Im using vista 64 with 4gb of ram, latest nvidia drivers for the 8800gt.

HelloFirst of all, I have tried a search, but never get any results - probably something I'm doing wrong I quite freely admit.Anyhow, to get to the point. I'm a very lucky person, very, very rarely get a ctd. Can't even remember the last one. Today though, when on final into LROP using addon scenery, in LDSB763, FS9 on XP I got an atc.dll ctd. Just at the point when I think atc would normal give me the final 'clear to land' message.Is there any consensus of opinion on an atc.dll ctd? Or should I just accept it as 'one of those things'?Again, apologies if this has been discussed before and I'm too dumb to operate the search function.

it was working fine about 6 mnths ago, then all of sudden CTD's i have replaced a new hard drive, new power supply , new video card, new memory and still no such luck, I have reformatted my h/d about 3 times and reinstalled fsx about 4 times - still no go..I noticed that when I startup the program all is good until I get into the actual flight simulator, then I see flashes of black polygons and then boom, I get blue screen of death... and because it is a bsod - I can never tell what exactly the error is, because the blue screen flashes up and then it reboots right away!could I have a wrong setting? on my vid card or ???all I have is FSX and update 1 and update 2 - nothing…

Hi, I need advice on this issue.I have recently added a second LCD monitor. This is one is 22 inches and the first one 19 inches.I always used at 1280 x 1024 on the 19". When I added the new 22" monitor I set 1680 x 1050 resolution, and keeped the 1280 x 1024 on the old one (19").With this configuration the FSX start and run on the new monitor. First of all let me say that I have been using FSX since it came out and fly at least one to three flights each day (obviously I'm retired!). I recently purchased AirNav's FS Live Traffic X and since then I get the CTD problem. AirNav has been helpful but they say that it is NOT their program causing the problem. I remember having a similar problem a couple of years ago that had something to do with the logbook.bin file but I don't remember how I fixed it.Any suggestions would be appreciated.Jeff EvenRocklin, CA, USA

Hi have recently bought a new pc - Quad core q8200 @2.33ghz 4gb RAM NVIDIA GeFORCE9600 GS Windows Vista 64Installed FSX deluxe on it with accelerator. After anywhere between 30min or 4hours flying i will get a ctd in the error report it will either come up with falting module ntdll.dll or terrain.dll or that the application has stopped interacting with windows.Also i do get a faint crackling and popping sound through the speakers when playing not sure if this has anything to do with it. If I experience CTD's when cylcing aircraft views or undocking a panel to a second monitor, is this really a problem with the add on aircraft or is it something to do with my pc and/or software itself?I've been thinking for months about this, due to a series of aircraft that I can't use due to CDT's.If it is aircraft complexity that my system can't deal with, then this may have an impact on finding a replacement aircraft with a longer range than my 737 PIC which infact works fine, really well with no CDT's. Guys, after changing UserVA settings under Vista 32bit 4GB ram I have this ugly error...KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR on Blue Screen. I ran into this problem yesterday, not having flown missions for a while which had me perplexed. FSX crashed when I selected the mission button, and gave me a cryptic error message indicating "a problem occured with MFC80.DLL". The problem was that a few weeks ago, I re-installed an application that apparently broke the C runtime libraries used by FSX, but only when attempting to load a mission.The solution and symptoms are covered here in a hot fix by Microsoft:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/961894Hope this helps others,Etienne

I installed Flight Simulator X and both patches. I get the blue splash screen then the program stops responding. I have narrowed the problem down to the Multimedia Class scheduler. If I disable this service the program will start and I can fly but there is no sound. I don't know how to fix this so I can fly and have sound. Sound service won't run without the Multimedia Class scheduler.Any suggestions?FB

I have only just loaded FSX for the first time and whilst so far it has been a very good experience, the moment I try and change any aircraft type or location settings from within the game I get the 'Loading Terrain' message, (where the % meter builds as the terrain loads) but the system freezes usually at around 30%, and I have to give it 'Control/Alt/Delete' and force the app to quit.I am running it on a new Mac pro (running windows natively) so the bootcamp drivers might not be the latest ones but everything else is great so I am assuming they are. Hello,i have a serious problem here. Everytime i want to start a mission FSX crashes to desktop.This happens when i choose a mission and klick on "mission briefing". It starts too load and crash after some sec. to the desktop.The error message tells me something is wrong with my mfc80.dll.So i tried to put different Versions of this file into my system32 folder. I reinstalled this c++ 2005 runtime. installed framework.net.Nothing worked.Everything else runs good in fsx, can do free fly and multiplayer but this error is getting me mad.Im using windows xp prof. with sp2.

I'm grasping at straws here, but could the Vista screen saver come on and crash FSX (or X-Plane) if you have your plane set up from cruise? Meaning, autopilot, hands off the mouse/controllers for extended period of times? FSX (and X-Plane), both crash out anywhere from 10 minutes to 25 minutes each time I fly. I'm just sitting here thinking about what I am doing when I get CTD. While not everytime, often I am just letting the plane fly. What about the monitor going to "sleep"? Do you guys disable all of the power saving stuff when simming? I guess it would be easy enough to try when I get home.Dondo

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can offer advice. I am getting a repeated CTD. I can have a number of flights O.K., and then on FSX starting (at gate) I get a CTD ntdll.dll error. I can also get this when flying after about 1 - 2 hours, then suddenly everything stops, same error.I am using Vista 64, and FSX sp2; fairly high spec. machine.
