I am trying to diagnose a CTD that I think is the result of a conflict with the free version of AES. I have since uninstalled and I think the problem is fixed but when running Process Monitor I noticed the following happening over and over.HKLMSoftwareNVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak SuccessHKLMSoftwareNVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak SuccessHKLMSoftwareNVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweakDisableWindowsCaching Name Not FoundThis happens over and over before the process moves on to other FS related tasks.Question; Is this a normal part of the Nvidia Driver? Is it a result of me usin…

Lonny Payne's 757 panel causes a CTD when I try to load any aircraft that has it. I get incompatability warnings about the GPWS and TOGA gauges, then a texture-less aircraft shows up, the hard drive makes some noise, and CTD. Funny thing is, I ran it once before and it worked ok. But it only worked that one time.Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

Hi,I just want to share the way I solved my problems of menu CTDs.I have FSX SP2 (without Acceleration), a Dell Pentium D430, XP SP2, a NVidia 6800 video card. I upgraded my video drivers from the original ones (77.74) to the last WHQL (169.21). At approximately the same time, I loaded from this site a free Algeria scenery, with which I had missing textures, and then my problems started : the D3D9.dll errors when saving a flight, changing the airplane's location or modifying the display parameters. I uninstalled the scenery but the problems remained.I uninstalled several times SP2, reinstalled it, installed the newest DirectX9 update, to no avail.Eventually, I decided to …

Hello, I never had this problem much before. It might have happened once before, but I ignored it. Now, every time I open the file menu and click on save, "FSX is not responding and needs to be closed". Any help?

hi, i installed the newest beta driver for an nvidia 8800gt card, it is version 169.44 and was released i think yesterday?i installed sp2 for kicks to see if the problem was solved and i can say that it seemed to fix the ctd's i would get when accessing menus and options etc.overall performance seemed about the same maybe 1-2fps faster with the settings and stuff i had set before.one caveat may be that i tried the speedstep setting before, which did not fix the problem for me, but it is still disabled in my bios - eventually i'll switch it back and review other settings changes, i have not done exhaustive bug testing of this issue. it is possible that it is some combo of …

Hi Folks, I'm new here.Wonder if you have any Ideas about this ProblemAfter I installed FSX Acc, when I change view back to "Cockpit" the Game freezes and I get an error message that results to a CTD...I also noticed that after I installed FSX Acc, the 2d Panels don't "fit" my Screen, their dimensions differ. No, I checked resolution and it's ok.Any Ideas? Maybe the file panels.dll is problematic. Thanks a lot

I have posted this in a couple of replies and bulletins around here so here it goes for everybody. I am very well experienced with computers, but for the love of god and all that is holy, beating around the bush with a Microsoft bug can be a true challenge! I just bought the acceleration version of FSX 2 days ago and have had nothing but problems with FSX ever since. Granted I've had small problems with FSX in the past some issues with display, screen flickers, fixed by tweaking some of the settings on my graphics card nothing out of the norm, etc... But for some reason with FSX Acceleration the game just seems to take a crap whenever it feels like it, let alone the Accel…

I would say I have a reasonable knowledge of FS(various)having started when it came on 3 floppies, but this has me beaten.Story so far: December purchased a killer system, Asus M2N-E mobo, AMD 64 dual core Black CPU rated at 3.2Ghz and 4Gb of DDR2 RAM. A few initial probs with USB bandwidth (USB ISDL Modem and USB webcam) eventually sorted. Then ran FSX for the first time with sliders a couple of notches to the right. FSX ran for about 10-15min then CTD. Tried again and the same, except CT-reboot with the "Windows has recovered from a serious error" message after restart.List of things done to resolve:Upgraded BIOSUpgraded NVIDA chipset driversUpgraded ATI graphics driver…

Hi there,I've read many many topics in forums, and I've always read that people are having problems (CTD, freeze, etc etc) with NVidia Graphic cards and FSX+SP2 or Acceleration. But what about other people, those who are using ATI's graphic cards ? Do they have the same problems ? I've never read negative topics for ATI.

After weeks of experimenting and dozens of BSOD's and computer reboots, I've finally found a workaround to stop FSX crashing my computer.Am using XP-pro SP2, FSX SP1, and SDK SP1a. Only addons so far are WOAI aircraft (bgl's converted to FSX format).Recently I found I could open separate windows to view the AI aircraft while still keeping my plane in view. Also, I've been using traffic tools explorer to select what AI to view. Seems around this time is when I started getting the BSOD. But it wasn't the traffic tools that was causing the problem, it was the multiple windows and the switching between them that caused the computer to crash. This is the most basic example…

Hello,In working to correct issues seen with FSX and ATI Radeon Graphics we've identified that there are several users experiencing CTD with reports in the above mentioned DLL. What we are unsure of is any easily reproducible way to see this problem consistently. To help us out I'd really like for people to post replies to this message with the following information for me, formatted as below would make my life easier :)ATI Radeon Graphics model(s):ATI Catalyst version:CPU (mfg, model):System RAM:Then for the reproduction steps, I'd like to know step-by-step how to reproduce it on your setup kind of like below. I'll also need to know your settings for this.Aircraft:Locati…

Hi everyone! This is my first post on these forums so please bear with me!Ok, so I have had this issue for awhile now and I cannot seem to resolve it. Have browsed various forums, googled the issue but have found almost nothing so far - at least not enough to resolve the issue. Long post warning as I have included ALL possible information and system specs in the hope that someone might be able to help resolve this issue. Note: i have been building and upgrading several computers for the last 4 years now and consider myself an "advanced" user (not professional as IT is not my profession though). I have been using flight simulator since the 2000 edition. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION…

Hello,I recently purchased FSX and have installed it along with both SP1 and SP2. I have not installed anything else. I can go into free flight mode all I want with no issues but some of the missions crash to the desktop after it gets to 100% loaded. Some missions do actually get into the sim and they seem to work fine until I get the hit escape at the end. When I hit escape all sounds stop and the screen freezes and a CTD window shows up under the simulator window. Another escape and the sim restarts. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to fix the CTD with missions. I can only get the awards that occur durring missions and not the ones awarded for finishing because o…

Hello, In desperate need of help, advise. I have been running FSX since the day it first came out without any problems until March 15th, with SP1 and SP2. On March 15th Vista downloaded and installed latest Vista updates. Since then my FSX has not been the same. Since March 15th FSX hangs on load where it can not go past the splash screen. Tested up to 10 minutes. I know there are threads how to fix this - remove .cfg file, remove logbook.bin file. After letting FSX rebuild .cfg and logbook.bin files it loads ok. I am able to fly with no problems but then on exit it crashes again???!!! After it crashes on exit it will not load past the splash screen. So I am forced to del…

Hi,went multi monitor for FSX and I'm struggling to get it working. Creating new views, undocking and dragging them to the new monitors has been impossible. This is what I did to fix my ctd problem when going into the menu while in full screen mode. I use Nhancer to set my GPU drivers and I have found that if I set the default settings exactly the same as the profile settings and I mean EVERY setting my problem is solved. I do still have the problem though that when I switch from full screen to window mode and then back I loose my AA.

Hi,I uninstalled FSX 2 weeks ago and ran the registry fix from flight 1 to fix the FS9 registry path, but ever since the uninstall FS9 CTD,s without a error message anywhere between 1 to 10 mins after loading a flight and i have no idea why. I have deleted the FS9.cfg and let FS9 regenerate it but this did not work.It happens at many different airports from Fly Tampa Miami to Cloud 9 KLAX to a freeware WIII,with any aircraft.Below is what Filemon captured during the period of a crash to desktop (and note i was not using LVLD 767 at the time). 57114 4:12:52 PM fs9.exe:23096 DIRECTORY C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Level-D SimulationsB767-300 SUCCESS Fil…

Well, this is strange. When I use a 3rd party aircraft, doesn't seem to matter which ones, I often get a frozen screen and CTD when getting back into the VC. This does not seem to happen with the stock AC and seems not to happen if I run in windowed mode. For some reason, turning down the scenery settings seems also to have a positive effect. I am not sure what is happening here. I reinstalled vanilla FSX and SP1 but it still happens. Tried different video drivers for my 7800 GT. Defragged, etc. Still happens...only in 3rd party AC.Anyone else heard of this problem or have any ideas what to try?Running Windows XP 32bit on an AMD Opteron dual core.

Well I've been running CTD free for quite awhile since disabling C1E and Speedstep, which I mentioned in a previous post. But it came back when I tried something during some video recording. And no, it wasn't fraps causing it.If you're still getting menu CTDs and you use an LCD monitor, maybe check in your nvidia control panel for the "Change Flat Panel Scaling" setting. I normally leave it on 'do not scale' or 'use my display's built-in scaling'.For kicks I tried changing it to 'use nvidia scaling' because I generally record in a lower resolution than native (1920x1200) and was trying to fix the stretching, and boom, CTDs all over again when accessing menus. I changed it…
