Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum

Never had any CTd's until I installed Acceleration with the included SP2.I fly in full screen mode. Now when I hit the alt. key to open the menu, I get a lockup which eventually CTD's.Does this with original FSX and the new Accel. aircraft.Anyone else have this?

Hi Everyone,I'm pretty new to FSX, but lots of experience with FS9. My problem is that I'm getting a CTD when flying the Eaglesoft CJ1(FSX ver) and RC4 (ver 4.3.3845). It usually happens when I am switching views or in 2d panel when I bring up a sub-panel, usually sometime after takeoff. I can fly the CJ1 in FSX without RC4 and never have a problem. Likewise, I can use RC4 with any of the default aircraft or with FSD Navajo, and it works perfectly. This is a relatively new FSX install, with SP1. I have no add-on scenery, have not done any "tweaking". My PC is holding at 31 - 35 C and is not overclocked or shown any signs of instability.I've posted at both the RC4 and Eagl…

This problem has only recently risen it's head - whenever I customize graphics, I can open the menu, but without fail closing it again causes the sim to CTD. I think there may be something wrong with my config, as when I change key bindings they don't save upon quit. I'm running MSFS off an external drive, with my config settings on the C: drive, and had been doing so for over a month before I had this problem.

This is for Nvidia 7 & 8 series owners experiencing menu CTDs (if you haven't all switched to ATI by now out of frustration, I almost did).I have a possible solution to the full screen menu crashing problem.Look in your bios for any of the following settings and disable the ones you find:-C1E function-Enhanced Halt-SpeedStep-Enhanced Intel Speedstep (EIST)Most intel dual or quad core cpus have at least one of these functions available to them. Hi,I have a new custom built PC based on a ASUS 5K MB, Dual Core 6750 processor, an XFX 8800 GT 512Mb graphic board, 4Gb RAM a 675W PS and running XP SP2.I have loaded both Fs9 (+update) and FSX, SP1 and SP2 without any add ons but keep having CTD's on both.I want to troubleshoot this problem systematically but can't help thinking the problem is with the PC not the programs.Could anyone offer any advice on how I could approach getting a stable base installation of both programs?I am not that tech savvy, but can follow instructions....All ideas, help much appreciated.BestSpeedbird217

I was reading a bit more in the forums and found a possible reason for my CTDs.If I disable FSUIPC by removing/relocating the file FSUIPC4.dll, I no longer get the CTD or FSX minimizing as soon as FSX free flight starts. As soon as I move that file back to the Modules folder, FSX has issues. I have no idea why disabling FSUIPC fixes my problem, but I'll try to investigate more.I did delete the FSX/Modules folder, then re-install and re-register FSUIPC. I have a bit of work to do, again, to assign buttons, switches and controllers. Richard

While using CH Products USB Yoke, whenever I change from one of the AP modes to another (heading to NAV) or disengage AP plane rolls left and dives. It takes unpluging and and repluging the yoke to regain yoke functionality. Sometimes I can revover (from FL240), low and slow (approach) toast. I am using the latest nVidia drivers on a 7600GS 512med video card and Intel Core Duo 3.2ghz 2 gig Ram.Any ideas would be appreciated.ThanksMike

Loading a saved game file (saved flight from the flight planner).2. Changing any settings while in flight (weather, resolution, scenery detail, etc)3. The SP1 shows very good performance increase and I would be very satisfied if it also would be stable. I've been getting the d3d9.dll CTD's since installing acceleration onto a fresh FSX install. Usually FSX will load and be playable for one flight, when I end the flight and start a new one I get the crash after the loading bar reaches 100%.I'm using Forceware 169.21 drivers at the moment, has anyone tried the latest 169.28 beta drivers?any other suggestions short of uninstalling acceleration?

I found an nvidia driver that works with acceleration and a 7600gt. Try 91.47 forceware driver from nvidia driver archives. It seams to have fixed my menu ctd in acceleration which I had from October when I bought acceleration. This driver may not support some of the newer cards but its worth a try if you have a 7 series card.

Hello.I'm having some strange problems with FSX. I cannot go to the menu inflight and change settings without FSX CTD'ing. Doesn't matter what I want to change: weather, aircraft, controller options, flight plan, fuel. They all cause a crash.Also, sometimes the sim will crash when I go from a page in the main menu [say, free flight or missions] to the settings page, change a few things, then try and switch back to whatever page I was on. Unlike the inflight menu bar problem, this one doesn't always happen.The problems started the same week I installed FSX. Hello there fellow Vista users I keep getting CTD's when running FS9 under the above. I have checked under the error log but nothing usable shows up I.E. no modules or .dll's either. So my next question is there anything I should know about when installing FS9 under Vista?. I am aware of things like U.A.C.and Windows Defender causing problems so I'veturned them off before installing FS9. but I am still get CTD's when running FS9. Any pointers would be most helpful! I have CTD's after I had installed SP2, but also after many uninstalls and reinstalls of FSX. At the moment I have only FSX installed, no service packs, and still get CTD's. Installing the new Nvidia drivers did not help. When flying the default mission (the trike over Friday Harbor) I only get the CTD when I access the menu, but when I fly to the Cessna over Friday Harbor the computer already locks up after a few seconds. However the messages that accompany the blue screen give the filename mfehidk.sys. So I gather that the problem has to do with this program. Found during the holiday when I tried to fly the Innsbruck approach {IA} mission in SP2. I had previously only flown it when I first got FSX ie the RTM version. After many hours of testing, including a full re-install, I found the following:RTM - no problems, the IA mission loads normally even at high settings.SP1 - If you first load the Default flight and once airborne select the IA mission everything loads ok - If you go from "free flight" to "missions" and then select IA, it starts to load normally, reaches 100%, pauses for about 5 secs and then crashes with a d3d9.dll error.SP2 - as per SP1I have tried different NVidia drivers and my last run was in a totally cle…

This happens when I try to load a saved flight directly from the welcome screen. FSX switches to the scenery loading bar, but instead of showing any progress, it stays at 0% and then dumps out. If I go to my default flight and then switch to a saved flight, it loads ok. btw, I have tried using a saved flight as default, but it still gives me a ctd...anyone having similar problems? Im just so fustrated, Im sick and tired of problems. I feel like im in the twilight zone here. Im getting crash after crash witht he lds 767. I was able to do a 4 hour flight from atl to las, today i tried to fly back to atl, 15 minutes after starting the sim I get a crash, tcas2v7.dll, so I delete the file, then the lds eicas.dll or whatever its called crashes, so i put tcas2v7 back in the fsx folder and i dont get the eicas crash, but then i get a crash of api.dll. Hi, Hopefully this request belongs in the CTD forum. Lately neither fsx or fs9 will boot up. Using Norton "One button checkup" I get Program Integrity Scan error messages that say fsx.exe cannot access mfc80.dll and Autogen SDK/Annotator.exe cannot access msvcp80.dll. There are 14,155 dll files on HD C and 187 on F( dedicated to fsx)and can't be found by the search engine. After the One Button fix and a restart everything is ok. I am using Windows XP and SP1 for fsx. Anyone know where these files are and know how to fix the problem without a complete install of FSX. rnails

I've tried a variety of aircraft and even reduced my settings to medium and still ZBAA proves to be too tough to spend more than five minutes at on the ground. Even if I start from the end of the active runway, as I roll past the terminals on one side, the total commit charge keeps steadily increasing until OOM. Sitting at the gates, an OOM can occur within as little as 30 seconds of loading up.Sporadic OOMs are a pain with FSX in general and will hopefully be addressed in the DX10 SP2 patch. It is my hope that when I share this knowledge, someone else may benefit and save hours of frustration.This will certainly not apply to everyone. Hi all,I have a new problem with FSX. Everything worked fine for the first three or four months. Then, for no obvious reason, on view changes via the menu bar I randomly have CTD. There is no time dependence - it may crash while setting up free flight, or after 3 or 4 hours of missions or free flight. I removed Documents and Settings/.../FSX folder, did a "repair install" on the program, but the CTDs continue. Again, they only happen, when changing views off the menu bar.Is there any known fix for this?Thanks very much!

When i follow instruction to disable it for FSX, it shows a message that it cannot be disabled for this program. What to do?
