Hi,Im having problems with fsx crashing when cycling through views. I remember having this same problem before and it seemed to be when pressing s and going past the nearest tower view option this was when it would crash. Now im sure there is a way to take out the nearest tower view when pressing s so that it doesn't display, but for the life of me i cant remember how to do it. Ive searched high and low on here but cant find anything. Maybe someone can remember and remind me. I think i have to change something in the cfg file but not to sure what. Many thanks for any help. Hey allI just installed the Mirage F1 posted today at Avsim into FSX. I am running Vista 32 bit. I installed the files into the root FSX directory as directed. I have two thumbnails of Mirages in the a/c selection window. When I select either of them I get a fatal error and FSX closes down. The install was pretty simple so I don't think I messed it up...Anyone else getting this?? Many thanks for suggesstions.Todd

I have CTD when i move mouse coursor over ATC window. FSX hangs and it shows a message with msvcr80.dll error. I have nvidia GF 6 series graphic card and FSX SP1It happens with every flight.

If so, have you found a stable driver? For two years I've used 77.77 with fs9 and FSX, and had no problems. But today, while running post-SC1 FSX, I've had my first-ever CDT and first Microsoft response to an error report: "problem caused by Nvidia graphics driver. Recommendation: update driver." But which to choose? On past experience, going for the latest only seems to work if you have the latest video cards, so Ive always rolled back to my faithful 77.77. Hello all,I have finally figured out the cause of my CTD's, Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska. After I uninstalled U.T., no more CTD's. Mind you this was not happening everywhere, but it seemed to happen in certain areas only.I would never get an error message, but after checking event viewer, the message says 'The description for event ID(0)in source ( )cannot be found'. Is there something I need to do with my scenery priority levels or are there any fixes that I may not be aware of? Thanks in advance,Scott

Hello, I have a little bit of an issue that perhaps you guys can help me with.Every once in a while in FSX, I will switch to VC view and the sim will freeze for a minute, that tell me that there has been a fatal error and asks me to restart FS.This problem was terrible up until yesterday when I reinstalled FSX and SP1, then it went away, and now it's occuring sometimes again, but not nearly as bad as before. Is this just a simple bug that occurs in the coding? Am I switching views too fast and it causes the sim to lock up? Is there a way to fix this?Thanks in advance.

Not willing to keep experimenting to see if this is right or not, but the only thing changed was I installed the June OS security updates yesterday. A few hours later I started FSX, got the initial splash screen but after several seconds, it just quit back to the desktop. Then I tried FS9, it loaded, but if I clicked on the menu bar it would lock up, and then I got the "send info to MS" box and then it would reload.I did a system restore back to prior to the update. FSX still wouldn't start, but FS9 did run OK. I played around with FSX and it still didn't start. I then did a back up restore that included the FSX main folder hierarchy, the %appdata% FSX data, and the …

I dont know if this is an old problem or not, but most of the time when I click on the nav log from the flight planner page it crashes to desktop..I dont think this is just and isolated problem because the exact same thing happens on my laptop also...I do have 9.1 installed on the desktop and 9.0 on the laptop..Anyone else experience this?Thanks for your inputAlan

Hello fellow simmersIn FS9, I am using this addon, the best available for FS9, as far as I know.The problem is that I randomly get CTD after sometime at this airport (whether spotting AIs, or preparing a flight).It is mostly ai_playr.dll but sometimes atc.dllI have checked my AI aircraft textures (should not be 24bits), checked faults in the afcad and the surrounding ones, everything is OK.Does anyone know what is the most likely cause of these two types of crash? Hello, I've had FS9 on my computer since it was released and never had a problem,other than the usual performance issues when it first came out. For about the last month I've been getting regular ctd's to the point of making this software unusable. Sometimes it's a soft crash with an error message and other time it's a hard crash resulting in a reboot. When I do get an error message, the reason usually varies. Sometimes it's sim1.dll or d3d9.dll or fsuipc.dll. I don't think it's hardware related only because I can run FSX without a crash. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted the entire directory. Has anyone ever had a "Failed to read from file" error pop up on their screen while playing FSX?For me, it usually occurs right before landing or when using the instant replay feature. A windows error window will pop up with the following message : Failed to Read from File; with only a "OK" button. -If you close out or hit "OK" on the window it will exit out of FSX and remove the icon from the toolbar. However it is still running in the 'Windows Task Manager". -Also if you choose to ignore the Error message and continue on, it seems it will not load any scenery and will just have green line & boxes where the scenery should have loaded. On the menu/preview screen in free flight, just before pressing "fly now", black lines appear on the aircraft and then the whole computer re-boots.I can't believe the only aircraft I can fly on FSX is default a/c, what rubbish.

I think I might have found a solution for the many crash to desktops that I have been having. Not sure if this will help everybody, but it seems to have helped me. I found this trying to figure out a problem with another game, and applied the same technique to FSX and it seems to work. I recently received and installed the FSX MegaScenery for Phoenix, and had no problems flying around in the Cessna with it. Looks fantastic. :)Tonight however I decided to fly from Dallas to Sky Harbor in the 737, and I had just crossed the NM border, so likely I was right at the point where the Phoenix scenery loads in... and everything suddenly froze, except the engine sound kept going. Had a search through the forums, can't find anything quite like this so any help appreciated.I'm getting a CTD in FSX whenever I try to Load or Save a config file from the settings menu, or when I try to Add or Edit an Area from the Scenery menu. Originally installed FSX when it first came out. Since I had added several beta programs and tweaks to it, I thought it best to un install it and do a fresh install before adding thenew patch. I also had added the registered version of FSUIPC. I forgot that there was an un install point on disc 1 and instead used Control Panel/Add Remove Programs to do the un install. I have prove (on my system) that if I first run Media Center, close it and the run FSX, a CTD will soon follow within 5 minutes. If I run FSX first after a reboot no CTD occurs.I suppose that the nvidia drive has something to do with it (158.43) but that is just a guess. When i run FSX SP1 after starting the computer or after a reboot, everything works fine.If i exit the first flight, select anything else and try to reload, FSX reload completely but when it reaches 100%, the hourglass appearch, the HD starts to rattle and then... CTD! with the option the send info to MS and to reload. If i reload, i always end up with the same CTD.The only way to prevent this is to reboot. I then can make one flight but if i exit and return to the main screen or exit completly and and run FSX without reboot or restart of the computer, i always have a CTD.I experience this only after the SP1 update.Anyone else with this problem?

Ive never had a problem with FS2004 that Ive never been able to fiqure out with the help of reading messages but I now stumped. I installed fs2004 when it first came out and never have to reinstall it, been stable all along.
