Crash To Desktop (CTD) Forum

Hi,I'm consistently getting a blue screen of death and spontaneous restart when dropping objects in the flour bomb mission. Hallo all,its my first time i post here, but is also first time i cant find solution to my problem.I have brend new PC where i installed FS9 and all the add ons i previously had in old PC.I fly from LIPK to LOWW with either F1 ATR42 or PSS DASH 8 and everytime i reach waypoint DOL, FS9 crash to desktop. I have no error message. I'm suddenly to desktop just like i never opened FS or any other prgram.I made some tests and i realized that this happen also with default aircrafts.I have only default mesh and textures installed.I already brawsed this forum and saw that other people had similar problem, but the solution that worked for them (older FSUIPC reistallation, 9.1 patch…

I recently started getting OUT OF MEMORY messages and some apparently random CTDs on my PC. I don't think I've had any so far since I bought it a year or so ago and put FS9 on it. The CTDs seem to have gone away after stepping down to FSUIPC 3.70 (from 3.71), but I have what seems to be a huge RAM leak with the CoolSky MD-80 which has given me a number of OUT OF MEMORY messages over the past several days.In looking at my FS9 folders, I just discovered I have a completely empty TEXTURE folder inside my Addon Scenery folder in FS9. Could that be causing the OUT OF MEMORY errors? If so, what do I do? I have no idea what the empty folder is for or what it relates to. I …

Hi Simmers.As previously reported in this thread and others I have experienced crashes and have not been able to completely get rid of them.I was reading the support page at NVIDA and it directed me to the following page.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909944/From what I can read from this page it appears that the Duo Core platform may be part of the problem.Not being very computer literate thought I would leave this site for others to read.Looking for any feedback.Kenny G:)SpecsDuo Core Intel2 gigs of RamVideo Card Nvida 7950 with latest drivers.

This might be a hint, or not.I had MS office running upon start up. I did the run, msconfig and turned it off. Now it seems that my CTD are gone. So this might be the problem child and cure, or not but worth giving it a try if your having problems.

First of all Hi, this is my first post to this site.Ihave just bought FSX and then purchased a Trust USB 5:1 Suround sound headset. The drivers for this, which are supplied by C-Media cause FSX to crash and also have the same effect on FS 2004.Trust say that they have no reported problem with this could it be that I'm causing my own problem?Thanks in advance for any help on this.Dave May.

i have had an intermittent problem with fsx, which occurs perhaps 20-30% of time around 5-10 minutes after taking off. the sim suddenly (and without any prior symptoms) minimizes; that is, the sim disappears and is replaced by the desktop, and the fsx icon is visible on the task bar. i can return to the sim by hitting 'esc' which then gives me the fsx screen where i can choose to resume flying or close down the sim. after the resumption, the flight usually proceeds without any hitches.anyone have any ideas about the cause and how to prevent it?thanks.. steve chavin

The following three conditions makes my pc to reboot:1) eaglesoft cirrus sr22 in VC2) bad weather, overcast and rain3) any shift1-shift9 to open 2d-subwindowsWhen I press shift-1...9, any of them, the pc freeze for about 5 second then reboot.I tried everything: direct X update, all possible video card and fsx settings, direct x settings (sound acceleration, ecc.), latest catalyst drivers, omega drivers, etc. etc.Anyone with this problem? Hey EveryoneI need help seriously.I've upgraded my machine and, after reading some of the posts here at Avsim, I've installed the Oct 06 release of DirectX to try and remedy my spontaneous reboots whilst using FSX.Just tried a flight from Johannesburg(FAJS) to Cape Town(FACT) and the same thing happens... in the past I would get a spontaneous reboot but now I have a BSOD which claims there is some Windows exception error. I tried disabling the AGP Texture optimisation in dxdiag and it still gives me the BSOD. I'm now trying the same flight with basic sound acceleration to see if that works. Hi AllI have a Duo Core GF 7950 Video Card with 2 Gigs of Ram and I have been getting several crashes where FSX completely disappears, then I get a black screen and the computer reboots back up to XP O.S.This appears to happen when flying the FSD Seneca for FSX, but have not tried other aircraft at this point.Prior to getting the crash, I hear a loud hum from the computer for several seconds then it crashes like I describe above.I also have had my instrument panel disappear on various aircraft when their is low visibility etc.I believe I have overcome this by setting the min visibility to 15 miles in the Active Sky options which was suggested over in the Active Sky forum.…

Every time I start to fly in FSX i get about 5 minutes then the system starts to deteriorate(Graphics) then FSX completelty stops and freezes up.I HaveMicron Millenium P4 3GIGA1.5 Meg RamNvidia GeForce5600 Video Card.I suspect its the Video Card But I dont know.

Hey folks,I'm just getting back into FS after a few years away from it. I installed FS9 last week and today have been installing most of my addons. The problem is that as soon as I have selected an aircraft FS dissapears and I am back at my desktop, no error message, no beep and nothing in the event log.Where do I start in sorting this? Hi, I have been experiencing CTD,S the last couple of days one,flying out of HKG with PMDG 744,one on short finals to RJGG with PMDG744,and today enroute to Milan from Rome with LDS 767.What is the best way to diagnose the cause of these CTD,s.If i had Filemon running when i had a CTD would that help? Another problem i have that i need some help with is very erratic thrust with my Top gun Afterburner Joystick with detachable throttle.Recently the thrust in any aircraft is highly erratic,just a slight bit of advancement of the throttle will send it to full thrust and then i have to move it back to idle just to stop it thrusting at 100%.It makes flying manually or taxiing…

Please if anyone can help. When I load or "go to" a California airport I get a CTD. The only addon I have for Cali is the Jetway & terminal package with Jan Martin's own Afcads. No duplicate afcads. No other scenery. I even reloaded the NAMW scenery from Disc 4. Everywhere is fine, but KSFO, KLAX etc... even Barstow (ahem) give me a CTD. Gentlemen ,When starting FSX , just when loading auto-generate scenery I got the following error:Instruction at 0x200392a0 referenced memory at 0x00000004 , memory could not be "read". With a particular add-on panel, CTD's are happening when the monitor resolution is set to 1024 x 768. Above these resolutions, CTD's do not occur.This is actually in FS9 as well as FSX.Any help please. What could be wrong with the add-on panel?nick

Anyone else having problems on ILS approach? Hi everyoneCouple of days ago got CTD; reloaded the flight and the same thing - happened every time. Then changed the date and reloaded an got no CTDThese seasonal CTDs are very frustrating indeed; I remembered the Crashto.zip patch and luckily have a copy of it on my back up drive. Problem solved but only after I removed all the scenery in the area and used ScanAFD to check for duplicate AFCAD files.I know it's one of the weaknesses of FS9 but I do find these seasonal CTDs which occur around season changes particularly autumn to winter very annoying and thank god I remembered the file name. Ok, first a good idea to have a forum dedicated just to CTD's. Hopefully puts a lot of heads thinking together on a single topic.My issue could be unique enough that only if you have experinced it would you be able to chime in but please feel free.When running FS2004 I will start getting within the first minute or two physical noises from one of my hard disk and then usally a few minutes later the PC will freeze up (no blue sceen of death or error message). It sounds like the swinging "arm" (for lack of a technical term) writing to the disks makes some clicking sound). Can anyone help me as to if they get a CTD at KEAT. I checked and dont see any dup afcad file for the field. Its runway 30 on 11/24 at noon that I got it both on short approach and when I try and create a flight starting there. I get the "has occurred an error window." I have Georender fields, UTerrian but thats about it in the area.any ideas or can someone please just try and load a free flight there to see if Im the only one? Stupidly I can't recall where I read that others had this problem - I did a search (honest!!) but cannot now find the post.If anyone has had this problem - ie FS9 starts up and (in my case initially rebuilt the scenery database etc )after a couple of minutes of HDD activity it just hangs there at the splash screen - no progress bar is shown like it used to to either. FSX of course runs OK. If there's a fix I'd appreciate some help. Thanks.

Hi everyone.This started about 2 days ago with random terrain.dll crashes. Although, tonight I've noticed a pattern. I'm running the mission "Blind flight through the english channel" and the error happens just after you leave the shoreline, and get into the channel. I've tested this several times using different graphics settings. No luck. I'm running a clean install with no scenery add-ons. I have edited my FSX.cfg using the autogen tweak provided by the microsoft.com support site. That helped bump some FPS. HiHaving installed FSX now and pretty much installed all the tweaks discussed in various parts of the forums, I am enjoying my FSX experience - however I am getting a pretty much repeatable CTD.If I load up FSX, select a mission and fly it, and then return to the missions screen, select another mission instead of the loading progress bar I get a black screen - I can then alt-tab to bring up the loading progress bar - which will then go through to 99% and then CTD (or very occasionally I get a black screen with all the mission sound but no picture which needs a task kill to shut it down).If I select free - flight and load up a flight, then no problems.I have got the latest…
