Hi there,I have been experiencing problems with the area around JFK in FS9. I had been running FRF Studios freeware scenery from some time with no problems for some time when the CTD's started occurring and now they happen with the first thirty seconds of loading the scenery there.I have subsequently removed the scenery but this has not fixed the issue. EWR and LGA give me no headaches nor does downtown Manhattan.Just JFK. Regardless of what a/c i use, the scenery loads fine, and then frame rates drop down to 1-2 per second then the CTD occurrs 10-20 seconds later.Any soltions anyone can think other than a complete re-install?Cheers for any help.

Hello everyone. I have been running into a sporadic problem with my new i7 930 build of FSX (see my signature for specs). Sometimes when I go to an external view of the a/c, the screen turns into one color (which varies in solid color that averages what the sky color is at the time), and the system freezes. I have to hard reboot the computer to get out of it. I used to have this problem for some time in my old system (which used the same video card), but it would only occur if I was doing a tower view. hi. i got a new computer recently and have reinstalled fsx, vanilla tweaks and config and just a lot of the usual suspects for addons.although initially i had some great flights, like many of you i ended up looking in this forum for a solution to the 'fatal error' and ctd problem that seems to be pretty common. it started happening to me once i started getting more scenery installed and running the fancier planes, etc..i was fortunate enough to come across a test case where i can cause the sim to crash with nearly 100% certainty after just a few minutes of flight. my frustrating initial experiences with this problem were at times of 30-60 min into a flight which of course…

I have looked and searched but could not find any reference to this problem I am having. First things first. I ran FSX with no issues on my old maching a dual core amd with 4 gig ram. I now have a quad core amd with 8gig ram. After reloading all my FSX stuff on to another computer, I'm getting an odd CTD problem. FSX loads as normal, then after a few minutes of everything looking good at the airport it goes back to the black screen and the info box saying "loading air sea and land vehicles". Sometimes it then goes back to the airport and it's fine, sometimes it crashes and I get a "fatal error" box. It seems to be the same for all add-ons or no add-ons. On one or two occasions the it's happened at the destination airport, at the end of the runway I've just landed on - the black screen and the loading box, then it picks up as though nothings happened!Any ideas???Roy

Lately I frequently have CTD's: without any warning I am thrown back to the desktop. (I'm not talking about BSOD here!) Very annoying, obviously. This usually (but not always) happens after flying for 20 minutes or so. I have been getting these strange crashes lately (and I apply no tweaks) and have a feeling something got hosed perhaps in microsoft net or c++ or something?I get this often when I change an aircraft within the program, followed by a crash.Then these other two out of the blue:I got this one twice tonight when coming up on the threshold of a runway-happened exactly at the same time.Anyone have any idea how to fix?Thanks!

I recently tested Wilco's A400M that I bought a few days ago. When I loaded the aircraft on FSX it crashes the program. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

I'm having this problem when every I use the WIN key to exit to desktop while running FSX using WIN XP 32 SP3, I'll normally have to hit the WIN key several times in order for Fsx to reappear. I can hear the sound but I don't get the picture? I just started getting the fatal error messages with FSX. FSX will then restart but again will fatal error. After two or three of these I get the big red stop sign saying I should reboot. When I clear the message, I have the following dialog box open. "This feature requires that (smartassembly) is available on this computer".Rebooting only starts the error process over again.Checking the event viewer, the error seems to be related to visualfx.dll.I have Win7 64bit, FSX fully upgraded.Was working fine, then last night I added FSUIPC 4.6 and purchased Eaglesoft SR22 for FSX and installed that. Update for Windows XP (KB971513)The Windows Automation API library contains the latest version of theMicrosoft User Interface Automation (UI Automation) and MicrosoftActive Accessibility libraries that are provided in Windows 7.It has taken me way too much time to figure out what this bug was coming from although it seemed much like the menu bug in win 7 w/ fsx. So it may be something in the "Active Accessibility libraries" that causes the CTD in 7.The way I have learned to make it happen is to fly around for over 15 minutes while triggering the menu periodically. Hello, This last week has been a very crazy week in terms of fsx :( I was flying EHAM-KPHL on vatsim for a virtual airline and my FSX froze right over the PVD VOR, then crashed. After that I decided to try it again, and it froze over the same place! I was just trying to plan a flight on the fsx flight planner to put into the gps of a plan to go KBDL-KFLL, but it crashed every time I tried to drag the red line to a waypoint on the map. I thought it might be a CPU problem so I checked my task manager and went to Processes, then CPU and checked to see how much CPU it was taking to run it. The highest it went to was up to 12. I am using FS Copilot and FS Inn for online flying for a long time. Now all of a sudden yesterday, when I want to start FS Inn, FSX CTD. Never happened before. I did uninstall both 3rd party programs and installed them again, but the same happened.Does anyone have an idea where I can start to look for the fault or a possible solution?Thanks

Awhile back, sometimes randomly, and usually after awhile of flying, FSX would just crash, and I am wondering if it had something to do with it being on my external drive. The only thing I have done is move it from there to a new internal drive, is this the possible cause? Or could there have been another and I just haven't flown the right length of time yet?

Hi Guys, I have recently started getting CTD's with the fault module described as gdiplus.dll. I have googled and found it may be font related, but have no idea how that may relate to my FSX install, which was very stable before. It seems to happens particularly when you do anything involving a drop down or window on the screen. anuone have any ideas as to how to solve?cheers,Mark

For the past couple of months or so, every time I am peacefully "free-flighting," after 15-30 minutes or so my mouse cursor will change to the "busy" cursor, the sim will freeze, and I will get a dialog box telling me that "A fatal error has occurred" and that "Microsoft Flight Simulator X is restarting." When I select a CRJ for a flight I find the FMC is dark (it wasn't on the very first time I opened up an aircraft) and I have to turn up the lights using the FMC dimmer switch: however it then only shows me ..."[ ] along the top of the FMC display screen with "CHK POS" underneath that. The first time it had a whole lot more data. However when I press any of the buttons nothing happens (including the keypad). Hi I thought I read somewhere that installing uiautmation.dll (I think that was the name of the driver) into FSX ,then it would solve most of the CTD problems with FSX .Is this true ?

Whenever I try to depart in my 747 by PMDG, my panels (not gauges, but panels) freeze! I am running FSX ona Dell 720 H2C quad core and was getting great performance. Now - allof a sudden, when I click on something like the GPS button in the Cessena, the frame rates drop more than 1/2 and the mouse icon shows THE "ROTATING CIRCLE" like it is waiting to execute the command. The same thing happens on the LD767 when I try to open the FMC. The FMC is black as the computer tries to load it inand FPS drop to single digits off (50 fps). A quick llook at the outside plane and it has no detail. I also see the main FSX screen flash up for a split second and go away.Any clues?
