Before I paste in the announcement, I want to give Avsim my sincerest congratulations on winning the race. You guys did an absolutely unbelievable job. You were nearly perfect from a technical standpoint. If I may be so bold as to borrow a phrase from Tom Allensworth, Bravo Zulu!Official announcement follows:-------------------The Executive Committee is pleased to (finally!) officially announce the results of the 2006 RTW Race. Avsim.com took first place, bringing the Tornado Trophy back to their headquarters. Flightsim.com took second place and Sim-outhouse.com took third with valiant efforts from both teams. We've always believed that the RTW Race brings out the b…

Hi AllAs I didn't were able to join you at the EDDF-EDDI and following virtual beer party, I really felt my journey wasn't over. Also, I had this new ** B-17 that I never got to fly in the race...It was just begging to go to Berlin. But even if the B-17 is bristling with guns, you never know what might jump you. Fortunately, Gazer and DC showed up, providing me with close escort (at times *VERY* close :)) and an excellent opportunity to fill my harddisk with LOTS of screenshot. This is but a few:Blue sky and great companions...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/143475.jpgClose escort...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/143477.jpgEnd of the road...http://forums.avsim.net…

I know it's only a few hours to go before the big group flight, but I just thought of an idea....We started in DC-3's... How about we end it by having everyone flying DC-3's? What does everyone think?

For users of LOD 10 Swiss Mesh with Terrain_max_vertex_level set to 20 (in the FS.cfg file). See the attachment to this post.Reggie Fields has produced a workable extra Flatten for LFLJ (Courchevel). This is a quickly produced extra flatten that will allow pilots with the more detailed mesh (and TVML=20) to fly into LFLJ. Simply place this file into the (FS9)/scenery/generic/scenery folder alongside the already archived flatten and exclude files. This additional flatten has been tested with the LAGO and the Holger Sandmann "38m" Swiss Mesh. We have not tested it with Switzerland Professional or any other highly detailed mesh. After installing this file, be sure to test it t…

Hi all,Duenna mistakes. Temporary Solution Proposed. We are seeing many instances in the Western Hemisphere of pilots forgetting to disable the PAR check in the Duenna (myself included). The Duenna then signals an error and an invalid flight. Happily, it also continues checking for further errors and records them in the TEXT file.I suggest that we all come to a "gentleman's agreement" (pending further review by the Rules Committee) that the Duenna textfile records (in addition to the pictures) be accepted as evidence for a valid flight. But please, teams should carefully check the textfiles to be sure that the pilot did not make an inadvertent error that would have invalid…

Guys, check out:http://users.adelphia.net/~mattsmith19/RTW/resources.htmHow is it that Team AVSIM has 49 hours "between hops"? How is that possible given we are just a mere 30 hours or so into the race?

Hi everyone,The RTW Executive Committee has received a few inquiries during the course of the race. Here are our answers:Jozef K/Arvoo wingman baton handoff issue - The confusion here resulted from some confused postings to the baton thread. It seems that communications took place over teamspeak and matters that were clear to those privy to those conversations weren't necessarily clear when viewed through the lens of forum posts. The Executive Committee has looked into this matter and determined that Avsim re-flew the leg in question - they didn't successfully employ the wingman rule, therefore they didn't need to wait out the 30 minutes associated with this rule. The d…

Noticed that several pilots are using older versions of FSUIPC. You might think about installing the current version. (Several older versions had a bug in the wind-smoothing algorithm that seemed to cause effective winds to reverse themselves.)You can get the latest version (3.53) at at the Pete Dowson page of Enrico Shiratti's website:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlBest,Mike
