Hi all,Sorry I haven't been around much. I have a huge project for work, and it's taking a ton of time from me right now.I hope to be able to make a few flights, but I have to upgrade my psu, and I'm on FSX, so I also have to find a new plane to master and quick. My Avanti steed has not been updated for FSX yet. (I uninstalled FS9, dumb move but it is what it is, it's the optimist in me.)**Any suggestions, I'm open to them. new PSU should be here by Friday.I will be limited in flying to Pacific time, evenings and the weekends. I will be able to monitor threads while at work though. :-)I'll try to get up to speed in the next few days, and feel free to email me or msg me…

  4. As you may know, David Copley's wonderful new P-38J, G, & H are now out. They are available as freeware here:http://www.kazoku.org/xp-38n/model/tp_preview/(If you are flying the current P-38L, you may find that the "L" is a better "racer". It has dive flaps and may be a tad faster. But the new 3D models, and especially the VC, are quite something to see.)Many thanks to David.M.

I'm going to send the baton over the North Atlantic (Iceland, Greenland, Nova Scotia etc) and then possibly through Canada, Alaska and then Russia. This is, of course, just a suggestion and the baton can be taken anywhere an individual desiresAnyway i'll take the baton from EDDF to EGPE in the P51H

Promotional Video Link: http://home.comcast.net/~sfoofficer/promo_3.htmAttention All Sim Pilots,It's that time of year again. Break out the charts, fill the tanks, and get ready for the one of the greatest flightsim adventure you'll ever find online. The 2007 Round The World Race.Within this specific forum, you will find a plethora of information that should key you in on what all the excitment is about. In a nutshell, it's approximately 96 hours of non-stop drama, where participating pilots and their machines are pushed to their limits in the bid to place first. Of course, I could go on and on and write a short novel on what makes the RTW do special, but cutting it to it…

Mike (2002cbr600f4i) asked for recommendations aircraft for the race. I thought this question deserved its own thread. The best place to start is the 2006 General Rules:http://users.adelphia.net/~mattsmith19/RTW/rules.htmSection 2.a.II of the 2006 General Rules states: Aircraft must fit into one of the following categories:i) Piston-powered fixed-wing aircraft.ii) Turboprop-powered, fixed-wing aircraft of two engines or fewer.iii) Rotorcraft. So we are looking for a propeller driven aircraft that can go fast for two hours. Ruggedness is also useful for landing on short strips. I

Hi all-Just dropping in to say a quick "Hi" to all my buds on Team AVSIM. All my flight training is now done. In the last six months I picked up my Instrument rating, Commercial single and multi, CFI, CFII, and MEI. I'm working as an instructor now, teaching people to fly in C152s, C172s, and a PA-28R. Unfortunately I still don't have reliable internet access, so email is sporadic and there's no way I can participate in the race this year. Looks like with the tremendous participation in the practices there will be no shortage of qualified pilots! Excellent! I'm sure Jeroen, Gazer, and Sven will appreciate all the help they can get on those late-night legs. Great…

Hi Guys (any Gals, feel free to flame me...),While I really don't think there will be a supersonic corridor this year, it just might happen...So let's get our act together and do the Concorde route from 2005:NTAA-SCIP-SCEL. This is a good route to try out because:1) The airports aren't *really* built for Concorde.2) There isn't ILS on all runways.3) The legs are pretty short, so to avoid overweight/overspeed landings, you will need to fiddle with the fuel loading.I propose we get together on SAT 03FEB07 at 1900 UTC on the tarmac at NTAA.Any takers ?BRGDS Sven Sorensen, EKCH

  16. Hi everyone,Here in the United States, all eyes may be on the Super Bowl, but let's not forget that we've got a much more important contest approaching - the 2007 RTW Race!I know we said that we would keep the General Rules fairly constant from year to year, but we really wanted to clean things up and try to make everything more straightforward, so we've updated the General Rules with a new format and nomenclature.Additionally, we have made a few *minor* substantive changes to the way the race works. Probably the biggest substantive change is to limit flight legs to 750 NM at a time. This is intended to place more emphasis on teamwork and baton handoffs, and also to al…

This weekends practice session will be held this Saturday Jan 20th at 2:00PM EST (1900 GMT)I'd like to cover landing as this is most difficult situation to handle. I would like some of the more experienced members to reply to this thread and give me airports that are difficult to land on, and why?Unlit airfields, Terrain Issues, also landing in poor visibility. Also knowing WHEN to make the decision to go around.I'd like to practice these airfields as well as continue our practice run of last years race.

I would like to participate in this year's race but have had no luck getting a screenshot utility going. It must save them in Jpeg format because I do not have a converter. I tried Screen Shooter but after multiple installs it never works as advertised. Although I set Jpeg it saves one pic in BMP, names it temp and overwrites it next time I take a picture. Thanx in advance.Best Regards, Donny :-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.

Hi guys! Sorry I've been absent for a bit, but multi-tasking is a pain. ;)Several of you know that I was working on a special project for the race. Item two of this project has just been finished (although it may require some fine tuning). Sorry I'm late in getting it done, but it is pretty much ready for review. This item will be sent out to those involved by 6p PST today (I'd send now, but I still have to *wink* wake up for work in the next two hours ;)).For the rest, sorry for the cryptic nature of the post, but it was decided early on not to post any info of this project in clear text. You'll find out what this is all about. :D

I want to say its great to see you guys again. Despite my intentions I wasn't able to see you guys over the course of the year. I'm sure we've got some interesting stories to tell over the course of the race. That being said. I think it's time to start arranging practices. This race will probably be one of the tightest we've ever seen. Both Flightsim and Sim Outhouse have already begun practices. I know I'm somewhat the new guy here having only participated in the 2006 RTW race. However if no one has any objections I'd like to set up and run a practice session this weekend. What do you guys think?
