Starting in Barbados, we'll go exploring the Grenadines Suggested flightplan: TBPB - TLPL - TVSB -TVSM -TVSC - TVSU - TGPZ - TGPY This touches all the FlyTampa Grenadines airports. I just tried linking to my existing FSX Grenadines scenery and adding the AFX_Txxx_flytampa_dummy.bgl files to my P3D Scenery \ World folder. Looks fine Just like last time, scenery suggestions are welcome!

The Most Dangerous Airport in the World? For Lukla, we shall use a freeware addon with a sloped runway. But this is not the only interesting airport in Nepal. The standard working aircraft in the region are the de Havilland Twin Otter, Dornier Do228, Cessna C208 Caravan and Pilatus PC-6. More details to follow. Bring your oxygen and nerves ... Oops. Make that Saturday, March 31st. (A week later.)

After the exciting race, it's time for a nice and relaxing flight. We depart from Saanen (LSGK, ORBX airport) in Switzerland and fly around the Alps a bit and visit Ambri (LSPM), Samedan (LSZS, also from ORBX) and Bolzano (LIPB). From here we make a little detour to visit (re-visit for some of us) Locher. The freeware scenery can be downloaded here. I recommend to install it because it is really nice and enhances this approach and landing! I'm not quite sure that the airfield is visible as such without this scenery To get an idea what kind of approach (with mandatory radio calls!) and airfield is waiting for us, have a look here! After that intere…

If you got em, post em here. Got sidetracked while doing video editing for an upcoming pirep. Not necessarily a pirep but a Google Earth .kmz file that is an overview of every official flight made by Team AVSIM. Uses alternate colors each leg for easy differentiating - Green (baton) / Yellow (wing) to Red (baton) / Blue (wing) & finally Pink for a flight that was aborted for any reason where a new flight took over. This is completely different than any of the other provided Google Earth "type" Duenna reports where the data points ( around 100,000 of them! ) are taken from the Duenna site created .kml files. Each point is just a few seconds apart, so even if yo…

section 11 of the rules states that "Pilots may not use artificial (not true to their aircraft) gauges or tricks to enhance their vision or their ability to approach an airport." the night vision part of it is fine, but the second part is a bit more troublesome. if i have a HUD it increases the ability to approach an airfield, the tiger cat has one. even though it is not originally part of the realworld aircraft. so if for example i add a HUD to a mustang, is that considered to be a aid for landing in the sense of article 11? or is it intended to rule out auto landing and nightvision only. best regards Leon

Good Day all, For the race and the newest version of the Duenna, please be sure you are running it as administrator. Several have noticed an error where it cannot read the airports.bin file which is where the directory of airports is stored. If this error does come up, the duenna still works and still tracks but it will output no airport information on where you started or ended. Should be a simple fix to just run it as administrator and it should output properly. Thank you, Eamonn Watson

Just a proposal - How about short legs criss-crossing Norway? Shorter legs so one can get in time w/o spending ~2+ hours. (After work etc.) Maybe helos too. It's a mess, take a look at SkyVector. Charts for your flight may be found here.

AVSIM RTWR Team Pilot Roster Sign Up Thread Just copying Martin's initiative over at SOH. The Special Rules state: "each team should post a public list of eligible pilots, including their simulators and chosen weather engines, and their rookie/veteran status. Any pilot may fly more than one simulator with a single weather engine designated per simulator. Teams may update their pilot rosters as the event moves along. Only pilots on the official team roster may fly a leg for the team." We want to organize our roster. If you are a veteran AVSIM pilot, or a rookie who has practiced with the team, please provide your particulars. (If you are a rookie who has not yet pra…

The Executive Committee of the RTWR wishes to confirm that the annual race will take place, beginning Friday, February 16th 2018. As like last year, it will focus on one large geographic segment of the globe, will rely on the well-known aircraft of past years and essentially follow the format of the existing General Rules. As is the case every year, a set of Special rules will define the route, specific aircraft limitations and other special circumstances which define the year's challenges. More details to follow.. The Executive Committee

Pensacola. The Cradle of Naval Aviation. Today's flight will depart from Naval Air Station Pensacola, proceed along the beaches of the Florida Panhandle to Tyndall Air Force Base, and then return to NAS Pensacola. This training exercise is designed for some practice formation flying in the North American T‑6 Texan. Some of us may practice ground loops as well. We commence and end this flight at the Blue Angels Pensacola flight operations center – on the tarmac just west of the T-39 Sabreliners of VT-86. We depart from Pensacola's Sherman Field (KNPA) and execute a touch-and-go at (or optional low pass over) historic Chevalier Field (KNCP) on the naval air station about…
