  1. Hello,Originally i posted this into the FSX forum and was asked to post here for additional help.I am aware that this has been asked before but does anybody have a fix for high TAT affecting climb performance?I use AS 2012 and the only aircraft i have seen this happen with is the PMDG-MD11, however i don't remember this happening with ASE.I do not use FSINN, just the programs mentioned above. A refresh of AS2012 does absolutely nothing; temp at 21,000 currently +45c, after refresh exactly the same. Shutting down AS2012 does nothing, and i am unable to restart it because doing so crashes FSX (recovers to a black screen, sounds audiable, then crash)I have attempted to use s…

If we use the runway textures provided in AS2012, do they overwrite textures in add-on airports too? I know the standard FSX textures are not great but I'm happy with the ones included with pay airports generally.

Hi Joshua! My preliminary findings with SP1 for AS2012 is that indeed it does considerably increase cloud cover but still not real true overcast when flying thru it. Looks great from below and way above cumulus layer but when climbing out can still see many breaks where ground is visible and on approach seems always to be more scattered to broken but with hazy visibility. True these conditions often exist RW but a TRUE overcast is zero-zero visibility when flying thru and ground only starts becoming visible (on approach) near the bottom of the cloud layer and then breaks out below the ceiling. The only way Damian will be able to simulate that truly is by using the 1/…

  5. Hoping others have had this issue and can help - I have AS2012 SP1 BETA and am seeing an issue where my destination airport ATIS will read and report the current weather at my location (ie: usually 75+ miles out at 15,000'+). As such the weather is inaccurate and usually reporting winds in the wrong direction thus causing ATC to set me up for the wrong approach/runway. The problem is usually resolved once I get lower and within 20mi of the airport. Has anyone else seen this issue? Any ideas on a solution? Thanks!Chris

Hello all,I'm currently flying from KORD to VHHH heading 7595N and surprisingly got a FMC Message saying "Insufficient fuel". As I looked at PROG, I saw it estimating 0.0 at arrival. The headwind component is not that significant, so I decided to look at the SAT, and whoa! I got -78ºC. When I checked the TAS, it was at 455. So that's why the FMC is overestimating the flight time. When I checked at "Weather Reports", the SAT at the nearest altitude at the closest station was -48ºC, which is pretty normal and would not cause me troubles. So my questions are: is that normal? If not, what can I do to fix that?Maybe the screenshots can illustrate it better:http://i11.photobuck.…

Whilst I understandthe decision to open an Official Support page, it doesnt seem at first glance to be very much use to me and my current problem. There is nothing about my problem in the Kowledge Base and the only Ticket option is Sales. So where do I go to get help about ASE telling me that my computer is "set to the future"?Back to the Users forum I spose.

  10. Hey guys,Just thought I'd throw this out there and see what comes back. I will also submit a ticket soon after I post this.In AS2012 with the new SP1 beta --which fixed my overcast issue... thanks! :( --Networked with Simconnect, DWC mode, Force ATC Wind Lock, Force WX at Dest, FSUIPC 4.8 with wind soothing.I also had the same problem with the original release but can't remember if I had it with ASE.If AS reports that winds are 0 to 5kts, I will always get at least 6kts in FSX. Say something like the common 'Variable at 3kts', I will always get the wind variance in FSX, even with the wind lock on. I guess that is a good thing but the wind speed is always 6kts. Anything…

I reached to install simmconnect and the AI traffic test was successfull. But AS2012 still don't take "control" over FSX's weather. And in the main AS2012 window on the top it says "FSX disconnected". I tried to turn of the firewall but nothing change.Any idea how to go forward, test my setup ??I'm using Win 7 64 bits. Thanks a lot for any help/suggestionCedricNB: by the way I need to say that I first used AS2012 on the same PC as FSX, and left the situation like that ? Hi,I'm still exploring AS 2012 but is it possible to print out a hard copy of weather reports in AS 2012 similar to what pilots get from dispatch?I could not find a printing option in the manual. It's no big deal, just wondering. Thanks. Tom

  14. Forgive me but I do not see this answered anywhere specifically nor directly.I have both REX2 and ASE.If I run just REX2 it updates the weather as I fly. So even if I fly with no preselected flight plan REX2 will update the weather for me as I fly.Does ASE do so or does it take my flight plan and pre-assign the weather along the netire route and then not further update it in real time? Do I therefore always have to preload a flight plan with ASE?Cheers.

  15. So after 6 years my trusty old Dell dies. (read that with heavy sarcasm, I wanted to punt that thing every time I used it, but it was free.) So today I upgraded to a new i3 powered Gateway, with more RAM than my first computer had in hard drive space.Long story short it has Windows 7, and when I went to install ASG (and subsequently the .net framework) windows told me that there are known compatability issues with .net and the operating system. Should I just ignore what windows has to say or is there a work around? Thanks

OK, quick question here. I bought a new computer and am in the process of reinstalling FSX and all the addon's. Hopefully tonight I'll be to the point where I can load on AS2012. Is there anything I have to do in the way of permissions to reload AS2012 onto a new computer? I installed it last on my old machine when AS2012 first came out.I did a search for this question prior to this post but it didn't come up with any definitive answers for me.Thanks very much!

Flew MDW to PIT, high altitude.Bravo! Big improvement. Best overcasts conditions I have ever experienced in FSX.Problems: On infrequent occasions when AS2012 was calling for overcast conditions there were very few small breaks in the clouds. Will continue to test.I am exited.

  21. HiWhen I choose "User-defined weather" inside FSX to get full cloud overcast, FSX crashes to desktop. I still get CTD when using PMDG and default FSX planes. I just uninstalled AS1012 which resulted in no CTD at all, that means AS2012 got a serious problem. I got suspicious because it happened twice using real world weather (online weather). 1st en-route from KSFO to KSEA and 2nd on the taxiway in KSEAThis is what Event Viewer shows:Faulting application name: fsx.exe, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e17d3Faulting module name: API.DLL, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e180dException code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x0003b9a3Faulting process id: 0x1638Faulting …

Hey guys,I have been using AS6.5 for years now (FS9) and really haven't had much problems with it. I found a while back a comparison chart type diagram that showed the differences between AS6.5 and ASE. I am interested in ASE but I first would like to know what the differences and improvements I will see between the two. Is it really that much different and worth the money to upgrade?I hope to get some honest answers! Thanks guys!Kyle

  24. Stopped simming in mid-2007 and been away from FSX since then. At the time, I had just purcahsed ASX with X Graphics. Can you tell me what is new with Active Sky 2012 and the benefit to me for upgrading, and also if any discounts apply for owning the previous version. I want to be current and take advantage of the newest, but if the delta is small between the old and new, then no need to spend $50.

  25. Hey guys,So far AS2012 has been a blast to have and use, but I've encountered a visual issue and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered it as well. When using AS2012 to apply light precip (drizzle, -snow, -rain, etc) at very light settings the precipitation will appear then disappear on and off in 3-5 second cycles. The runway/taxi-way texture changes with it (from a darker contrast caused by the wet-surface effect to the default dry effect). In effect I get precipitation that goes in and out, off and on every 4 seconds. I wouldn't mind it if it didn't make the runway/taxi-way textures switch between wet/dry with it.Has anyone else encountered this issue? I hit it to…
