Does anyone have Evolution and if so are you happy with it. I have ASN now. Would it be worth the money ?

Hello Guys, My ASN is having trouble interpolating visibility. No matter what setting I use I get a visibility of 9.0 SM (9999+ m). I set maximum surface visibility to 8SM and it only applies to stations that have active or current weather metars, but for other stations that are fully interpolated by ASN the visibility is always 9.0 SM (9999+ m). everything else works perfectly. Example. I'm sure most of you know about this but for those who don't... When you switch your Com 1 frequency to 122.02 (or 122.025) you will hear the current METAR information for your destination airport. This only works when you preload your flight plan into ASN. Also, tuning in 122.00 will give you the wx at the closest current location. Tuning in 122.05 will give you a full wx briefing per what you receive from Flight Service.

I don't know what happened but I cant figure it out. I used to be able to get 90nm with map locked to aircraft and detail on. I searched all over and couldn't find the answer. Hope someone can help me out...thx. I have ASN networked.

Hi all: Occasionally I get a blue screen of death (Windows crash) that I think has something to do with the way I am using ASN with FSX. I am running Win 7 Pro 64 along with UTX, UT2, GEX, and FSGenisis for scenery. Because I fly long flights and don't like leaving my FS computer connected to the web for those kind of times I follow this procedure: 1 Launch ASN and download the WX. 2. Launch FSX and prepare flight to depart. Usually take about 20-30 minutes. During this time ASN is connected to the web. Clearly the local weather is downloaded. 3. Before departing I configure ASN for "Historical" rather than "Live" or "Manual", using current weather as historic…

Most people are asking if FSX Steam edition works with ASN, but I have AS2012. Does AS2012 work in FSX Steam Edition?

Hi everyone, I have been troubled recently whenever I enter a layer of thick cloud, and my visibility is reduced, that some of my controls within the sim become quite transparent such as the yoke, MCP, the chronometer among other things. I've disabled the wing fade effect in the settings of ASN but that doesn't resolve the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

When you have ASN on and where it says "nearest station" it says "CURR" shouldnt it give me the identifier for the closest wx station it is pulling the info from? I assume that the CURR means the weather at the current position of the aircraft? Silly questions, but i cant find mention of this in the ASN manual.

Since I have updated to ASN I keep having problem with the weather it creates - most of the times weather resets at least several times during flight, with all weather effects disappearing. I am usually flying PMDG 777 and 737 as well as A2A planes and most frequently it happens when I am flying 737 over Europe. I have tried reinstalling, to no effect. My PC well exceeds requirements and I even tried to make fsx and ASN apps use more memory with LAA. Nothing helped, is there any way to fix that? I have the most recent version of ASN. Sorry for double post but I can't find 'edit' button on tablet version of this forum.

Does anyone else find that AS generates thunderstorms far too easily & frequently. The number generated for UK flights is very unrealistic, as they are generally a rarity. For instance a storm was generated at Manchester yesterday at 3 p.m. when the real weather was simply wet & windy, & this has been the case on numerous occasions. Tonym

Im having problem with snow using asn. If i set the fsx weather to snow without using asn snow shows up fine. If asn tries to set snow in fsx there is no snow falling. The runway textures do change so the sim knows it should be snowing but the snow doesnt actually fall.

Hi , I use ASN along with REX 4 in FSX. It seems that sometimes ASN uses cloud and sky textures of REX 4 and FSX together. Is there any way to make ASN to use only REX 4 high quality cloud and sky textures for weather depiction. Also it seems that when ASN depicts weather, there are some low quality and low altitude FSX own cloud textures here and there that apparently have nothing to do with the ASN work and are there because they are there! Sorry I am out of home now so i can not post any picture in this respect.

Hello, I bought Active Sky Next last week and I am absolutely happy with, but today happens something weird with the map. OK - I hope this does not appear as a stupid question. I got Active Sky Next on Monday of this week. It works WELL! No problems whatsoever. And I love it. I also use VOXATC,; have for many years, and love it too. By far the best ATC program I have ever seen or used. Now the problem: VoxATC uses fsx weather - whatever it be - to assign runways. But I have the ACN set to live, which is how I have flown all my flights for years. But since fsx weather (live) doesn't work anymore, I was forces to get an outside weather program. now that Lockheed has fixed the cloud almost perfect, I was wondering what is the best setting in terms of upper visibility and cloud draw for a jetliner. for example if set cloud raw to 90/90 and visibility to 100, the clouds fade in and out, But there is this hard edge with overcast, especially when flying at high altitude. I believe the minimum cloud draw, is used with heavy cloud draws? So what would be the best setting for this?

This one is pretty straight forward. Yesterday ASN worked just fine. Today I start up my sim and ASN just says "Waiting for Simulator." It will not connect to FSX. I have a legal version of FSUIPC and it is running. I didn't change anything with flightsim, no modifications, nothing. Anyone else experience this?

I fell in love with this product when i first got it.. but lately flying locally in the Northeast, there is too much unrealistic Ground Fog!!!!.. I' mean I"m looking out doors and it's a crystal clear sky.. I don't mind fog for a challenge once in awhile, but all the time is ridiculous.. I tried some setting for disable ground haze but that didn't seem to help.. Is there a setting I missing somewhere? I mean lots of times flying Boston to New York there's an impenetrable cloud layer at ground to 3000 feet, again, while I look out my window and it's a crystal clear sky.. Very frustrating.. I'm using Rex 4 as well..

So I got ASX today. Read the documentation and set a flight in progress. As indicated in this forum (not this thread), 2/3 of the way through the flight, the sim abruptly stopped and crashed. Very frustrating. I've rad and read just about all there is to read on the subject, but don't know where to start. I don't consider myself computer savvy by any means, However, I know I am running fsx and ASX as an administrator. I have my antiV off right now hoping I can get a hint of where to start. I JUST downloaded the appcrash view application, so it isn't available for the crash I suffered 3 hours ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, it looks like…

It seems that when the weather updates during flight, FSX drops out. As I mostly fly PMDG737 on short flights I would like to stop the updates. I cannot see a facility for this beyond moving the updates to half an hour. Can anyone suggest a way to stop the updates? Thanks Tony Merry

Good evening, Both the utilities TOPCAT and AivlaSoft EFB can extract weather data from activesky.However, the respective manuals are not very clear about which version of ActiveSky can be used.In the respective manual(s) they refer to a file called "current_wx_snapshot.txt" but I can't seem to locate that file. I am using FsX on my main pc and ASE, over my network, on a laptop.Can somebody tell me the location of that file??? Thanks for the assistance Luc BrusselmansBelgium

Hi Guys, After reading so many positive reviews I thought about trying ASN myself. I have downloaded the free trial version but unfortunately for some unknown reason it doesn't seem to be working on my computer. I keep getting the following error message "ASN cannot control ambient weather parameters correctly. thus it cannot function properly at this point and will shut down"….Sometimes FSX itself displays a message saying it can't run a third party add on i.e. ASN Once I had a huge error message that I haveforwarded to the developers. I am really disappointed as it seems I am the only only one having such problems…. Any help would be much appreciated. …
