I purchased the Download of Active Sky 6 today and seemed to install it ok by using the "readme" text file. However, is there a manual or PDF file that explains the basics of how to use it? I am looking through the downloads and can't seem to find a simple way to get into the options. Thanks in advance.Bob

The weather for today in Paris is absolutely CAVOK... no clouds, maximum visibility. I've included a Screenshot so you can see the metar string given by ASX is ok for LFPO. But why is ASX generating clouds at 3900 and at 5500 feet ?? is it a problem in the way the metar string is parsed ? I often see this problem. I saw nothing in the settings for this behavior... Is there something I missed in the way ASX works ?Thanks for any answer you might give.[image]http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/177279.jpg[/image]Pierre

I've just about had enough of ASX. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. I refuse to keep uninstalling, reinstalling, blah blah.See the attached screen. Can someone tell me why I'd have broken cloud at 7000? I live half way between Sydney and Canberra and today we've got blue skies and very clear vis - so the actual metar with Cavok is correct.Honestly, I think I'll be waiting for something more reliable to come along, as far as ACCURATE weather depiction goes.

Since I installed SP1 for ASX, I seem to have an odd problem. I have ASX on a networked machine which has two monitors. Prior to SP 1 I got the main screen to open on the 2nd mon. which is where I want it. Since SP 1, the screen always opens up on the 1st monitor and I have a devil of a job to drag it to the 2nd. I'm using XP - both mons are correctly set up and are at the same res. Anything I can do?Bud

I have probably overlooked this in the manual, but is there a way to get the map depiction of the winds to automatically update the "winds Level" option as you climb/descend based on your altitude? Right now I do it manually. If not, how about a "sometime in the future" feature? Anyway, love the new product and nice job!-Rick

Also nothing happens if I try custom weather like rain or snowWatching the sim connect report file on the server machine, I notice that the met…

Hi,I have a problem with the winds aloft - It seems that what is being depicted in FS9 isn't always the same as what the Active aloft report reports for the current station in use.For example, i was cruising yesterday at FL390 and had winds of 330/33 when they should have been, and were, according to the Active aloft report 330/89 - On some flights the reported winds and the actual depicted wind in FS has been so different that i haven't had enough fuel, as i had planned for the strong tailwinds.Sorry for the long post,Any comments welcome,Nat

Up til yesterday I was able to set to historical dates - mainly to track Hurricane Dean. Last night while ASX was running it CTD'd. Since then I can only set to real time. When I set to a Historical time like say 8/20 which should put Dean in the position Heading towards Cozemel, it is located on the ASX map (and Radar Gauge) over it's real time position at it's second landfall on the gulf coast. The load itself goes without error according to the info on the main screen and indicates the proper time and date file was loaded. Has anyone else seen this? This all worked before the CTD yesterday which was roughly in the area of 21:00 EDT last night. BTW I used it to track Fl…

I can't seem to find anywhere (the forum or the documentation with ASX) how the weather is generated when automatic updates are disabled. Am I correct in assuming that the flight begins with current METARs that are downloaded during the flight briefing, then during the flight the TAFs from the same briefing are used to update the flight conditions along the route? Also, if automatic downloads are disabled and you do not get a flight briefing and go straight to a free flight, what weather will be depicted for the flight? Thanks,Tim H.

I'm a recent purchaser of the bundle. I'm enjoying the products but have been a bit frustrated with the impact that ASX seems to have on my computer. I've tweaked here and there and reinstalled and got it working better (using default settings for clouds). However, there is certainly a noticeable difference with ASX running--frame rates dip a lot (large FPS variability) with choppiness and some stuttering. Running without ASX, FSX is pretty smooth. I'm going to update my video drivers and see if that helps. Given my modest computer specs below, should I expect anything better? Granted, I am also running Trackir. Thanks for any help.RandallWinXPNforce 2 motherboardAth…

Pardon me if this question is as daft as it appears, but I have ASX installed on a network computer. All works fine after some initial problems. I'm now thinking of XGraphics but I don't want to go thro' the hoops I had with ASX, so the question is, can I instal the graphics prog on my FSX pc, ie will it work correctly with ASX on the networked machine.Bud

I am able to save plans to FSC and SB3 but not to PMDG. I operate FS and FSC on separate computers (WideFS linked). I have configured the Options Flight Plan tab (add-on aircraft) Drive:FS9PMDGFlight Plans but the plans do not show up in the PMDG folder. Any help would be much appreciated.Peter.

  19. flying Nvidia 8800GTX, 162.18 official drivers, DX90c, winXPSp2hello,I'm using ASX defaults and, after entering a rainy thunderstorm (either setup by me or - i.e. - actual hurrican Dean), after a while the visibility goes to absolute zero and so it stays even climbing to 30000ft and more (the "fog" stays every time up to that altitude, and sometimes the rain too ! ...), and it won't go away unless getting out of the storm; a weird aspect of this issue is that, if I toggle from top-down view to any external one, for an instant I see a normal overcast/visually-impairing weather, thence the foggy situation returnsso I thought to a layer issue but, although deleting upper clo…

Well I got what shots I could from the flight, chasing the storm. Aircraft was extremely difficult to control and the slightest movement sent it spiraling out of control, here we gooooo...As we take off, Storm is pretty far south now so it's a long one...Looking back on Hawaii as we leave into the thick storm...Above the storm, 30,000 ft. up. (I'm aware it's a DC tongue.gif)Lightning...Eventually I got sucked into the storm, and was pulled right into the sea, last shot before it happened...(p.s. this shot is completley untouched! Nice job hifi!)Thanks for watching don't be afraid to comment!

  21. I have had a wonderful time with both the Graphics and ASX programs. Just great. My only question is... could someone please help me know what theme number gives the same deep blue sky color as the FSX default Fair Weather sky?I love the skies after a sharp cool/cold front comes through and clears out the humidity... but as of yet... I cant find a Graphics X theme that is theat deep of blue. If it is there, then what sky color number it is??? Maybe I'm missing it?I miss those deep blue skies so much... but I love everthing else about the program.Thank you very much,Steve

Is there going to be a sp2 soon to make asx usable? The wind shifts are driving me crazy, its just rediculous now, I cant go more than 10 miles without being blown away by these shifts. I turned down wind shear to 2%, that didnt do the trick either. And how do I stop that white haze from showing up everywhere either at fl360 or on the ground, its always dreary when it should be sunny with that annoying white sky using x graphics.

  23. Laptop Runing ASX and main PC running FSX.First loading ASX completed loading and start FSX. Choose flight with the ultralight at MHIC. FSX loaded wx passing at FSX. Because it is on the radius of storm DEAN the ultralight lifts off and after a while crashes. FS Resets again to the airport but althought the WX at ASX is reported like the begining ie. heavy winds etc the FSX weather does not change.. Have some clouds but nothing to resemble the actual METAR.Below is the ASX LOG22:16:44: Logging Initialized22:16:44: XEngine v1.0.0.327 Copyright

Hi, When I got FSX, I also got UTX, VFR photo scenery, Xclass world, FSGenesis, ASX + XG, and much more. So, I didn't exactly read all the manuals - just installed everything! hehe... ;-)I'm now trying to figure out what XGraphics actually is doing (!). Is it already 'working' (ie changing textures when I just open FSX) or do I need to click on that "Install X Graphics Textures" thing in ASX for things to start working? Thanks,Aleks
