Not to beat a dead horse, but I have a question. I finally bought FSX. I note that with no add ons, selecting overcast and clouds at highest setting, that FSX gives at most a 10-20% cloud cover. Doesn't even come close to overcast.Does ASX correct this like it did in FS9?I have seen many posts on this issue, but want to see if there is at least substantial improvement compared to FSX with no add ons.Thanks,GReg

Hi all-I purchased ASX last night and have it installed on a new computer with Vista. However, when I start ASX and get the opening screen (Welcome to Active Sky X) a portion of that screen is cut off on the right. That is, where is says, 'Helpful Links' and 'Articles', the screen is cut off (doesn't appear). This is true for all the screens that appear when clicking the links on the left, including 'Settings. I'm running 1600 by 1200 res if that makes a difference.Thanks,Mark

Hi,When I start ASX/FSX the weather loads as expected. However it then slowly drifts back to the FSX setting and while ASX appears to download at intervals the actual weather does not change and I end up at 1013 and zero wind.Do I need as specific setting in FSX? Or is something wrong?ThanksChris

I am rather dissapointed to be honest. I was having problems with ASX crashing after a period of time (only started today) and noticed that SP1 was available so I installed it.Big mistake! ASX takes 90 to 100% of my cpu and has been for the last 20 minutes when it started depiction output to FSX, FSX is stuttering a bit.I have set high priority on ASX adn am running over a network. The only programmes running on this PC are ASX, BAV OSP adn BAV ACARS along with internet explorer. Its a 2.4GHZ PC which chould be fast enough but this is crazy to be honest.and yes ASX was not running when I installed SP1, however FS was on the other PC. Restarted teh PC several times tooOh a…

Hi All,I finally bought a new computer. It has the GeForce 7600GS 512MB card, and came with driver version 6.14.11.6218. I'm using the Samsung 906CW 19" LCD monitor. I'm using ActiveSky 6.5 with the all the updates.Compared to my old system, the clouds look pretty horrible to me (this is no fault of the ActiveSky Graphics). I'm using the highest quality 32bit setting for the clouds I could find in the ActiveSky Graphics menu. The clouds seem to be washed out and have lines in them. Is this a problem with the video card/monitor? Does anyone know if a different set of drivers would make a difference or any setting suggestions?Any help would be appreciated. I was really exci…

No matter what I tried I just can't this this to work. It keeps coming up with the SP1 error. I have uninstalled/Re-installed SP1 on the server machine, double checked I ran the simconnect msi on the client machine and tripple checked the entries in the files.I even resorted to manually deleting the SP1 files as described but hit a brick wall in that one. There are two directories with the file there but I cant delete either because the only account that can remove them is the TrustedInstaller account and I have no access to that. Sorry if this is an old question, normally don't fly much during summer months. Since installing SP1 for ASX & XG (seven short flights) sim shifts into a slide show for about 5 to 15 sec after sim start up (normally occurs during taxi). Before installing SP1 the sim was very smooth and still is using only FSX with Microsoft real weather 15 min download. Normal FR is in mid to upper 20s with target 30 and very smooth. During slide show it drops to 5.3 to 6.There are no program errors with FSX, ASX, & XG. All loads and operates normal just like before the SP1 upgrades. Before the upgrade, I had many, many flight hours with no problems. Is this normal? If not, is the…

I'm getting new computer with a DX-10 card and will be using FSX with the 64-bit version of Vista. I plan on using Active Sky (which I have now for FS9) and X Graphics.I see that MS is releasing something called Accelerator and I wonder how that will function with these two add-ons using DX-10. I have ASX installed in a dual boot system - XP and Vista in seperate partitions. FSX and ASX installed on a non OS drive.When I run ASX under XP I get a Launch FSX button on the interface. When I run under Vista, that button is gone. I got a new pc.I saved the AS6 & 6.5 in the old pc, and had the shop transfer it tothe new pc hd.Reinstalled fs9, then patch 9.1. fs9 worked fine.Installed AS6 +6.5 update. Install was complete.I ran fs9 with AS, without activating ASG. AS loaded the latest weather into fs9- no problem there.Then I wanted to change the clouds/sky in ASG. Just a quick question. I am using a dual soundcard setup, so I have the ATC voices playing through my headphones and the rest of the sounds playing through my speakers/sub. When I tune to the weather information freq (122.00), the voices play through the speakers and not the headphones. Is there a way to get this to play in the headphones like the rest of the ATC voices? BTW, very good product. Enjoy using ASX.Thanks,Steve

Please look at item #4 ...........then the box starting with DXT...........last sentence in paragraph starting with "also make sure that you do not have multiple display driver sections in your FS9.CFG file" I looked thru my files and I have 4 files that each start with the phrase DYNWX. HII am getting a new computer that has Vista on it, and a DX10 compliant videocard.As this will require a re-install of everything, what is the correct procedure for Acitve Sky X and X Graphics re-installation and re-registration?If I opt to simply change mb and CPU, with an 'install-repair trick' of Windows XP will my registry retain the correct info regarding ASX? even if I have to re-activate XP?Allen

Hey guys. I just built a new computer system and re-installed FSX and all my other add-ons including ASX and X-graphics, and a couple things. First off, I can't get ASX loaded into FSX because of a simconnect issue, which I think can be fixed by re-installing SP1 right? Secondly, and I'm not sure this is X-graphics related or not, but I can't seem to get a nice sharp blue on the horizon with the 'day' graphic/texture setting. I get like a grayish white no matter which X-graphic theme I use. Any advice on what i've done wrong? :D

i have used both virtual stations on and off, but the problem still exists.when i put the lower visibility limit at 25 NM and go flying the visibility haze pops on but sometimes it pops off. whats wrong? i have also other problem, the FPS dips to 5 and back to 25 many times when ASX is parcing line items etc. i have no problems whatsoever with FSX default online weather. i have very strong machine 3.3 Ghz core 2 duo, 2 GB of memory, geforce 8800 GTX etc.tero

Hey I was just wondering if there was a way to over-ride the visibility settings in Activesky 6.5 to ensure that there is a constant haze as I feel this is much more realistic! I've tried to the smooth horizon option on ASG however when stations are reporting clear visibility this becomes useless and I have a hard line between ground and sky which is quite offputting. Is there a way to force the visibility section in METAR's to be over-ridden so there is always haze? Thanks!

Using build 522, on an imac. Crated a flight from CYVR to KBLI (about 35 miles) in ASV6.5, processed then refreshed weather. ASV then flagged GEPro which loaded textures, and started the sim., and loaded weather, started the flight. Weather looked great with about 15 to 20 miles visibility and correctly placed layers - just as in the metar.Got about .5 miles north of the Boundary Bay airport (halfway to BLI)and BAM the visibility dropped to about 1 mile. The cloud layes where still there - just that I was now flying in a foggy donught, whereas I used to be in nice clear skies. Reversed course, and flew back through the boundary - POP visibility returned. There is a …

I have installed ASX under Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP2. I have configured the sharing on my Vista Home Premium FSX installation so that I can view the FSX folder contents from my XP PC (the network configuration instructions do not include the need to grant write permissions under the Vista.(Drive).Properties.Security to 'Everyone', which wasted several hours). After installing ASX SP1, the program no longer functions. After clicking on the map screen, the station input field exhibits slow response and weather does not update in response to station changes. The XEngine process runs continuously between 50% and 70% CPU on this screen.I uninstalled ASX and reinstalled the original release; the problem disappeared. Are there any known issues with high altitude airports picking up the winds aloft and using them as surface winds? I flew out of Aspen, Colorado, last night and the sirface winds were about 10 kts. But on the takeoff roll I suddenly experienced a sustained 55 kt crosswind, which blew me off the runway before I could get airborne. Any ideas? Thanks.
