The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

Tecnam P92 VSkylabs over my Pacific Southwest Ortho Scenery which extends from Oregon thru Nevada, then on into North Central Arizona..... John The package includes a float plane version as well (not shown). Excellent flight dynamics I can vouch for, having flown real Microlights in this class. img]https://i.imgur.com/YxwtPLr.png[/img]

Over my home spun photoreal scenery of Colorado, available in the File Lib here for FSX and P3D. All files have to be downloaded and installed per my instructions, with the bgl's being unzipped to the scenery folder and nothing in the texture folder. This will keep the sim (FSX at least) from "hunting" for bitmaps, an old bug we found in as users and in beta tests from way back when, in the days before FS9 when we were developing our landclass proggies like my landclass assistant. Hi, some impressions from short flights in north-eastern Germany, the Danish island of Bornholm and Poland. Starting in Werneuchen, a former fighter airfield east of Berlin: Crossing Berlin Tegel. Note the colours... Trying to lose height near Heringsdorf, at Usedom island in the Baltic Sea: Refueling - and taking of again. In Heringsdorf, some buildings still look GDR-like: At Bornholm - lost my drop tank here... Above the Polish sea coast Landed at Szczeczin-Goleniów It was fun flying that agile fighter plane; I hope the pictures bring at least a littl…

I cleared up some room on my "D" drive which I run Xplane11 from. I use my "C" drive for P3D except for my home spun photoreal scenery made with FSEarthtiles for P3D. This allows for very easy add-on scenery management, because I can upgrade right over the scenery without having to edit config files after the upgrade, it is the way P3D and Xplane are supposed to work. Xplane uses a more DOS like approach in its handling of its files, since they also support Unix on other platforms. Ha ha, I had to become "a computer ambidextrous type of guy to have a career in hotel systems and aviation systems, so I learned both Unix and DOS". If one knows them well, all viruse…

  15. On August 24 (2001), this Toronto to Lisbon bound Transat flight, nearly 4 hours into the transatlantic flight, lost both engines, over the Atlantic, due to fuel-starvation caused by a leak in the fuel-line. After fuel-anomaly was confirmed, the pilots had decided to divert to the Azores islands, but engine #2 flamed out first at 39000' still 150 nm away from the Lajes Air Force Base (LPLA)/Azores. Thirteen minutes later, while still 65 nm away, engine #1 also flamed out. The Captain of the aircraft, Canadian Robert Piché (48), (also an experience glider-pilot), and his First-Officer, then successfully performed a miraculous sequence of procedures to complete a landing at…

  18. The "Hump" was the name given by Allied pilots in WWII to the eastern end of the Himalayan Mountains over which they flew military transport aircraft. In 1942, these were considered the most audacious airlift attempts of World War II. The Himalayas, being the site of extreme weather conditions and jet-stream-strength winds, posed the most severe challenges. The DC-3 Pilots cruising e.g. at 16,000 feet might find their aircraft carried uncontrollably, within seconds, thousands of feet above and then back down. The weather was also laced with fierce thunderstorms and heavy icing. It didn’t help either that the Hump route charts were outdated and inaccurate. It can only be i…

For those who love VFR, Seat of the Pants, great value add-ons for any sim, The VSkylabs Eurofox delivers, a recommendation from me, a real life Light Sport and Trike pilot (but grounded the past eleven years due to seizures). People argue that sims cannot recreate the "feel" of real flight, that they just are not there yet. I disagree, with the right flight model they are there. I wrote a flight model for my FSX/P3D Trike that nailed my trike flying experience spot on, from stall speed (25 knots) to a cruise of 40 knots. This Eurofox, along with Xplane11's own Aerolight 103 Ultralight, nails the flight envelope of a Light Sport experimental spot on. In an earl…

Here is JF's Tristar that I have not probably flown more than once ever. I recall, however, having flown the Captain Sim Tristar many times - including a recent flight for which I'd provided a post. This (early) JF version that I've here, is, a decent and fun-capable SIM - with pre-fitted INS CDUs, and allowed auto-upload of my waypoints into the INS for navigation (although I should have probably done manual entry for better realism). The Lockheed Tristar is one of my most favorite iconic aircraft. This Trijet masterpiece, (with variants: 1/50/100/150/200/250/500), had followed B747 and DC10 into the market, as the 3rd wide-body airliner. It may not have been a comm…
