Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/

Back from Storage...I almost forgot about this stunning aircraft! This is a VolDirect flight from Rennes, France to Munich, Germany for a 3.5+ hour flight covering 540 miles.Departure 10:30 AM. Sorry about the lack of airport scenes, don't have the payware facilities. Thanks for viewing, Darryl

The Navion is a beautiful example of classical aircraft design that looks contemporary even today. A kind simmer posted pics of this bird a while back and I found it at Xplane.org and downloaded it. It is a great addition to any student's library. John

Some Ortho images I made of Zacatecas Mexico, where my daughter's grandparents, aunts, cousins and nephews live. It is a beautiful touch of Spain and Europe with cobblestone streets and 300-400 year old buildings. I went on my first date with my fiance back then there, who I met while she was working for Mexicana airlines. My Mom told me because I was a working road warrior and traveled weekly by air that I would fall in love and marry someone who worked for an airline. She never imagined that I would work on contract for American Airlines and USAirways during their information technology merger due diligence. John

  5. Forum mods or sys admins.. Has the forum software changed recently where it affects dropbox image links? As examples - This is what dropbox gives me as a link, doesn't seem or never did work with the avsim software - https://www.dropbox.com/s/p10ve7wt8cm007q/SS_02Feb19_140635_N37.30414_W108.62968.jpg?dl=0 The old way of getting it to work is to change the "www" to "dl" so dropbox provides the raw image to avsim - https://dl.dropbox.com/s/p10ve7wt8cm007q/SS_02Feb19_140635_N37.30414_W108.62968.jpg?dl=0 Now the above doesn't seem to work anymore. It previews just fine when creating the post but doesn't work once the post is completed. The "dl" change sti…

I just love this little gyro that was recommended to me here. I have enabled my Xplane11 autogen overlay over my photoscenery, I love autogen in the farmland and desert, Many do not know that Arizona, in addition to having the biggest stand of pine trees north of our Mogallan Rim, also has farmland and crop circles that must have been left by the aliens in the movie signs, lol. Every time I see crop circles it restores my faith in our supreme being, Tom Allensworth...He is the one who inspired me to learn how to fly for real, along with the encouragement of my ex wife and daughter. My mother, RIP, was the one who warned me not to buy a light aircraft, she would only f…

My latest Ortho4XP rendering, the entire Hawaiian Island chain. When I took my wife and daughter there for my daughter's thirteenth birthday in 2012, we stayed at the wonderful Hilton Hawaiian Village for several reasons--it has the best beach in Oahu, many nice places to swim, a great tropical vibe, easy bus access to Pearl Harbor, and a nice fireworks show. Plus we went on the sub ride, my first and only time in a real sub, although the water was a bit hazy. We did see many tropical fish but my greatest underwater experience was snorkeling in Guam's lagoon in 1992. I was surrounded by thousands of fish in all colors. If you ever go snorkeling in the ocean, the tric…

  13. I know Cessna aircraft have a passionate following - in RW and in the SIM. My personal SIM experience had started, when I'd pushed the throttles on my Saitek controller making the default Cessna-172 of FS2004 (A Century of Flight) to roll with what I'd considered a heart-stopping thunder of the engine! So, in a way, just as most RW pilots probably got their exposure to real flight via a Cessna, for me Cessna was also the first exposure to what I came to know as an "aircraft" - in the SIM world! However, until recently, I had not known much of the entrepreneur, Clyde Cessna, from Kansas, who had started it all. In 1911, Clyde Cessna built his first airplane, which he named…

I had purchased this aircraft during one of the earlier JF sales a while ago, but never got to fly it, primarily because I thought I would wait for their upgrade to the Professional Version planned for this year. However, I thought it would be still best to give this SIM a try now. In terms of system fidelity, it's noted to be between JF's Lite and Pro versions. Nonetheless, it's a really good aircraft to fly for fun - if you would excuse study-sim level fidelity which is not available (yet) . It does have the authentic (and unmistakable) sound-sets recorded from the actual Rolls-Royce Conway engines. I listened to this distinctive sound at full volume, subject to househo…

Here are a few travelogue images of a flight with the Ultralight Trike (FW by John Cillis). The aircraft is modeled based on John's real-life Trike experience, of course, subject to the limitations of the SIM. The altitude of this flight is rarely above 1000', and the Trike's speed is rarely above 40 mph (often less) - with a touchdown speed as low as 25 miles (all as duly noted in the download Readme). If that's not the definition of "Low and Slow", I do not know what is! It does give a new and unique perspective to the enjoyment of VFR scenery, not achievable with any other aircraft. The landscape of this tour, although devoid of high hills/mountains, is picturesque wit…

Hi fellow sim pilots. Anybody else celebrating the birthday of our Queen of the skies at the moment? We at Andras Meridian VA thought it would be a nice idea to give our Queen a retro livery to celebrate the birthday in style 😉 Currently on a short hop from Cairns AU to Port Moresby PNG. Have fun T.

The beauty being able to create your own photoscenery is that you can repeat flights that you have done in real life, in scenery that looks exactly as you remember. In my case, it was in the mid-1980s in a Fokker F 27 of the Pakistan Air Force. These flights into Gilgit were risky and on two occasions, we had to turn back because of weather. We could have done the trip by car, which would have taken slightly less than one-and-a-half days on rough to very rough roads (one way). And you were not allowed to drive during darkness, meaning you had to stop in one of the small road houses available to travelers. The F 27 is parked at the military part of I…

I like Light Sport aircraft with steam gauges, I flew a couple with LCD displays but they were low wing and the displays would get washed out in the sun, very hard to read. John

One of these days I will be back to P3D4.4, lol, but I am still enjoying the Microlight collection I purchased last month. This Gyro flies exactly as a gyro does. To take off first you engage the clutch to prerotate the blades, then you disengage the clutch once the blades are up to speed for a smooth, slow, rolling takeoff. On this flight, between Casa Grande AZ (former home of the Copperstate Airshow now held in Buckeye AZ) and Maricopa AZ a short hop away, I chose to land dead stick in Maricopa to see if it can be done, like a real gyro, using autorotation. The answer is yes, and one can touch down at 5-10 mph if one does the final right, as I did on this flight. …

I would have never gotten MSE except for HLJames recommendation, it works perfectly with my homespun FSEarthtiles Colorado and Wyoming scenery.... Love the Carenado Shorts, never thought I'd find one and it brings back memories of my two Shorts flights from Ohare to Springfield IL and back in 1990..... I was in heaven with the picture window view that the Shorts has, plus I had an aisle and window seat to myself both ways... I flew from Tahoe today into SFO--note the jet just ahead of me on short final to 28R. It did a go around, probably waved off due to runway incursion. John
