Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/

  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.
  1. On June 30, 1956, at 9.01am (PST), a Lockheed L-1049 Constellation (TWA Flight 2) departed Los Angeles International Airport on a scheduled run to KMCC (Kansas City Downtown Airport) with 64 pax and six crew members. At the helm, was 41-years-old Captain Jack Gandy, a 17-year TWA veteran, with no less than 177 previous flights over this route. Three minutes later, a Douglas DC-7 (UAL Flight 718), with 48-years-old Captain Robert Shirley, in command, (16 years with UAL), also departed Los Angeles with 53 pax and five crew members aboard, bound for KMDW (Chicago's Midway Airport). If you wish, you may jump ahead now and see the screenshot of the their intended routes (super…

Flying the VSkylabs Eurofox, I just realized yesterday that it even has an autopilot with alt and heading hold, I did not notice it because I usually just enjoy the view.... I really mean this, if you have Xplane11 and if you love the feeling of real flight, VSkylabs has mastered the feeling of light weight, two seat training aircraft. I have flown them in real life and I can vouch for it, one does have to get the winds just right, I program the winds to about 5 knots with gusts 3 to 4 knots above that in variable directions to give me the feeling of real chop and real flight, which we have much of here in Arizona. Some WWII, post war, and one unique modern era aircraft... How do you find one of those unique modern era aircraft? U "nique" up on it. Also, since I was Unix certified and MS-DOS certified way back when, I can share a secret-- Unix was "U-nique", DOS came after. Actually they both share from each other anyway, or so we say in the biz.... The OS's that followed for the PC's that came out were FUBAR'd (inside joke).... FUBAR does not mean what you think it means. It actually means "First Unix but "Ah" recognized DOS"...... Last, this is what really went on before the "Miracle on the Hudson" in the eyes of ATC, not the pilots: "M.R. Ducks." "M.R. Not D…

Time to fly again. Lots of time free, no school, no homework... Why not going long haul? My 777 was already full of dust, and needed some workout afterall... My route was planned: AF228 from Paris to Buenos Aires. So we're at stand K44, in our 777, and have about two hours for preparation. I'm pilot flying, so I do the turnaround. the bird arrived about three hours ago from BOS. Checking pitots, probes, engines, tyres for any damage... GE90s are such massive engines!! 2200Z, time to board the souls and mail. We have 237 today, as well as mashed potatoes and red wine for dinner. Boarding was QUICK. Must be d…

There is something of an unique appeal about a Biplane, that, I think, is hard to resist whether we routinely fly small or big - GA or Jetliners. I ran into this gem of a plane (Roland D6) from the passionate folks at "French VFR" (please search for "French VFR Downloads" to see all their beautiful (FW) collection of aircraft). Roland was a fighter aircraft built at the end of WW I (first flown in 1917). It lost a fly-off to the (well-known) Fokker D.VI. In January 1918, two D.VIs were entered into the first fighter competition, one powered by a 160 hp (119 kW) Mercedes D.III engine and the other by a Benz Bz.IIIa of similar power. Although the winner of the competition w…

  12. From the Orbx's on-going SALE, I picked up EU-Germany South, and was looking for an aircraft to test this scenery. I selected (JF's) Electra, a plane I always wished to fly more, but have not. In the famous final scene of the 1942 film "Casablanca", an Electra was featured in Air France outfit (same livery used here in this post) Casablanca, consistently ranks near the top of lists of the greatest (classic) films in history. In the climactic final scene, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) and (tearful!) Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) say their final goodbyes, as Major Heinrich Strasser (Conrad Veidt) is racing to capture Ilsa and Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid). The Electra, mea…

  13. Got some humor? Me too. I've read this thread with great interest and humor: Now: what is PBR? Some people call it physically based rendering, I just name it pretty brilliant reflections (PBR). It's looking quite the same: And what is best: you can enjoy pretty brilliant reflections (PBR) with FSX, with affordable hardware, with general aviation (where the proud owners have time to polish, beware from dust and regularely rewash = pbr). And you can buy it just now: https://www.aeroplaneheaven.com/product_swift.php Best greetings Peter

I had to pay for Carenado's 310 for P3DV4.4 I found a simple but nice freeware 310R for Xplane11, she looks great in the air and handles well. Also, a great freeware Cub, the first Light Sport aircraft way back when, it handles great for a taildragger, it is not easy to groundloop unless you try real hard.... John

A nice rendition of one of the new human flown drones being made lately. This one is a chore to fly, requires help from Xplane11's autopilot, but once in stable flight it can progress at about 33 knots or so, give or take... It hovers very well, can even fly backwards... I found it in Xplane.org's rotorcraft library, it is simply called the Flyer... John

  20. In one of my earlier posts, there was a (member) inquiry about the Apennines Mountain Range of Italy, but, I did not have enough coverage there of this beautiful mountain range (which is often overshadowed by its more prominent cousin, the Alps). The Apennines consist of a chain of mountains uniquely located like a backbone along the length of peninsular Italy. The Apennines contain some of the most in-tact ecosystems in the whole European continent, which has survived the human intervention such as best preserved forests and highly diverse flora and fauna. Geographically, the Apennines appear to be continuous with the Alpine system, but they are, however, not the same sy…

The motorglider I would have bought in real life had I the money, but where do you hangar such aircraft? In Arizona Hangar rent is almost as much as apartment rent, one simply cannot afford to fly for fun other than trikes and powered parachutes, where you can sublet a hangar from a willing pilot who wants extra income.... I do not know how licensed pilots can afford to fly, my friend Ron, who was also in IT on the telephony side, he was from Colorado, he had to give up flying. We had a joke between us, we had server and fiber optic closets set up and Bechtel, the big giant everything company, shared our building. We wanted to see in their fiber optic closet, permissi…
