Hi all, so the scenery here is a bit upgraded now. Photogrammetry must be on, it doesn't really work without. Photogrammetry is a winner for me on the long run but it's not yet perfect. There are some weird looking details sometimes. SBGL and SBRJ are nice and overall it's a great scenery for Rio de Janeiro now. It's really a large city.... Thank you very much for viewing! Cheers Andreas

Yesterday, I made a quick (real) flight and notice some improvement I could add to my freeware airport mod. Every real VFR pilots at LFPN know how to find the Rambouillet VOR and the lack of this very noticeable water tower next to the decommissioned VOR RBT was a major error in MSFS! Now it’s fixed among other things like the ground marking “NO ENTRY” for the very specific S1 taxiway. Approaching Sud Dampierre (exit VFR point) and now able to see the water tower: “NO ENTRY” ground marking at S1 “ACFT vacating RWY 07R/25L via TWY S1 must hold position before the dotted lines before taxiing on TWY S servitudes”: The now unserviceable VOR and its…

During my previous post, I'd made a reference to Boeing 787-8, so, I thought today of flying a 787. Since, I do not own a 787-8 variant, I chose to fly, instead, the Asobo/MSFS 787-10 for this post. I recall, last time, I had attempted to fly this -10 in MSFS2024/Xbox, I'd run into some kind of issues. Today, however, it flew perfectly on this test-flight of mine, as I lift off northward from Runway 36R of LEMD (Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport) and land back on (ILS) Runway 18L. I've defined, on the FMC, the (published) STAR Procedure into Runway 18L, with Transition/IAF LULER (see my 2nd shot (ND Close-up) for the successive waypoints of this approach). On the …

If you haven't heard, XP12 has received a major facelift (along with other great fixes). The lighting, clouds, and dark cockpits have been addressed and it's shaping up to be an excellent sim. I've not flown XP12 for a "serious" flight in ages - I mostly use it for beta testing. But if you're on the fence I'd seriously give it another look with the latest beta 12.2.0. Here I'm flying the Lancair Legacy from KBOI to KPAO near San Francisco. It's equipped with O2 so I've found a lovely cruise speed of around 270 ktas at 16k. The trip takes a bit over 2 hours covering nearly 500 miles. I've also added the TDS GTNxi into my XP12 aircraft 🙂 A mid morning de…

Today, I was looking for a new aircraft in the MSFS2024 Marketplace, and this Dornier Seawings Seastar caught my attention. I thought to myself...this here must be a Dornier of my past SIMs...🙂...as the various Dornier Flying Boats of Claude (Claudius) Dornier came to my mind, with their vintage cockpits and (classic) steam gauge avionics. This, however, is clearly no legacy Dornier airplane...🙂...though the Dornier family tradition of cutting-edge innovation and engineering excellence in amphibious aviation that dates back three generations to the early 20th century is remarkably reflected in this interesting (modern) aircraft. We all know Claudius Dornier, the famo…

I'm flying in MSFS 2024 with an MSFS2020 add-on by a Filipino developer named Clifford. I take off from RPEN, a small local airport near the village of El Nido. Most of the surrounding islands are uninhabited, with only three hosting eco-friendly resorts. Today, I plan to visit two of them. Over the El Nido village This is the Pangulasian Resort. This is Miniloc Island, the oldest of the three resorts in the area. The jetty shown in this picture doesn’t actually exist But what does exist is this beautiful small lagoon, which you can enter by kayak. If you want to explore it without crowds, you’…

When the MSFS2024 Marketplace was (finally) opened several weeks ago, I'd picked up a couple of Airports from the ones listed there exclusively for MSFS2024. One such add-on scenery was for (LIPZ) Venice Marco Polo Airport. However, I'd not yet got to test this out, so, today, I did a short flight using the iniBuilds A320neo (V2) in the (pleasing orange colored) livery of EasyJet (LCC) airline. Please find this collection of pictures of this Airbus A320neo as I lift off Runway 22L off LIPZ/Venice and touch down onto Runway 04R. I've also included a set of (interspersed) pictures of (and around) the airport premises. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for viewing...!

Well, sorta - but "Landing Helicopter Assault ship" isn't nearly as alliterative 😉 Thanks to a discussion about helicopters, of all things, @thepitts brought up how much "fun" it can be to operate a STOVL Harrier from and to a boat. It's been a long, looong time since I strapped on the famous Jump Jet, but it is truly something different, so I dusted it off to see if I could actually still at least fly the thing... All I'll say is that I didn't crash, and I did it with just one "bolter"/go-around. But I did take so long to get back on deck that I ended up consuming every pound of water for the engine 🙂 I used to know the proper procedure for bringing a…

Beechcraft G58 on its way from BIIS to BITE, (Thingeyri), according to Little NavMap. Iceland is looking pretty good in FS2024. There are quite a number of airstrips on coastal Iceland designed to offer a white knuckle approach.😀 T45 Short hop from BIIS to BITE On approach to BITE

Looking at this real flight really shows MSFS 2024's new lighting engine to great effect. At times it really looks like 2024!
