Hey folks, the content of the Simbuilders Wikihttp://wiki.varxec.netis growing, but we still need a nice logo.If you know how to use a graphics program, consider designing something and add it to the Logo Contest Page:http://wiki.varxec.net/Logo_20ContestIt would also be nice if we had a bunch more contributors. Right now, about 7-8 people have added content. Thanks guys. Please head over there and get your feet wet. Wiki editing is really easy. NO html needed. Lets keep the content and esp. the Logos coming :)Tip: If you wanna know which pages changed recently, go tohttp://wiki.varxec.net/RecentChangesRegards,Manuel

I know this has been up here recently, but bare with me please.I'm looking for Boeing colors, specifically Boeing Brown and Dark Brown to start with.I'm NOT looking for the Testors colors, because too much is to be painted and those tiny bottles don't last long and are too expensive in the long run.I'm wondering if anyone has painted their stuff using mixed colors from the paint store. I'm looking for accurate color codes for the store to mix for me in larger quantities.Does anyone have an answer to this?Appreciate any help.Best regards,

Hi all. After nearly one year of assimilating information from this forum, I have finally commenced on the construction of my 737NG sim. Here are two pictures of the MIP and Pedestal created from wood (all parts of my sim will be hand built...), one with the FMC display attached. I will now commence on the MIP and MCP, with hopefully backlit panels. I created my FSBUS cards already a few months ago. I would like to thank all of you for all the information provided through this forum, which made it possible for me to start my sim. Special thanks to Frank Bond (www.737flightsimulator.com) for his document on creating the MIP base... Hey Frank, looks quite neat and simple.Rah…

Hi All ,In my short time here , i have noticed most of the talk is 747 , 777 , 737 , A320 ... Related , excuse me if there are others , but so far i only see the Fokker 50 in amongst the topics here. So my question is , why do people not build ATR-42/72 , Dash-8 , Embraer , or other Prop aircraft sims ? Surely it cant be harder than some of the big jet projects going on right now ?I am contemplating building a EMB-120 sim , my first project , but it might put me off if people who have done lots of projects cant make one. Basically , would this not scare beginners off from making Prop sims , cause none of the experienced builders are making them ?ThanksCalum

has anyone tried to display the main gauges on a tv? How was/is the resolution?IF it's worthwile, I'd like to do this. But my hardware is somewhat outdated...I have a 19" color tv with only cable tv hookup (and rabbit ears). I have a GeForce 3 Ti200 video card. What would I need to do to setup this up?

Hello there,Have no idea whether your interested in this kind of information. I just build a nice cockpit setup and want to share this with the FS community.I use the PDMG Beech 1900D(look at the site) and real working instruments alongside two EFIS screens. I kindly invite you to visit my website explaining in detail how I build this thing.http://users.telenet.be/theportablecockpitkind regardsMark VerschaerenBelgium

Just for some wishful thinking, I jumped into FS and took eight screenshots, one representing every standard view from within the aircraft, with panels off:http://www.turnerdesign.net/wraparound/wraparound.jpgWhat I'm wondering is 1) Why all views line up, except the two forward 45s to the forward (forward is #4, the one with the Sears Tower)?2) What's up with that color difference in #6?Thanks,Andrew

I remember back then, there was an issue about CNC drilling machine. And I can't seem to find any. So question is... Is there any site that sells cnc for cheap? I assure it's possible to build one on own but I am afraid that could or would not make it quality, wouldn't they? Let me know with more details.

Having programed a flight on the FMC, on take off I activate the VNAV and LNAV. All is well for a short time until the VNAV decides to de-activate, especially when changing waypoint direction.ALSO Frequently I crash just after take off. For no apparent reason the aircraft slews to the right and that's that! I have a feeling this is something to do with the trim. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Marty

Hello all. As I've recently moved homes, and now have a whole basement to play in, I decided to move towards a new version of Home Cockpit. My previous rig used a matrox parhelia card to run 3 19" monitors for an out the window view, and two additional monitors (and vid cards) to run the instrument panel views. I've decided that the Mark II cockpit will be projector based, instead. (Any looking for a 128MB Retail ver. Parhelia, e-mail me). Frame rates, with my P4 2.4GHZ 400FSB 512 MB rig were in the low teens, and whilst enjoyable, I would have liked more fluidity. Running without the extra panel views, or in windowed mode, provided much more acceptable frame rates. I hav…

Hi - I'm probably going to run 2k2 a while longer, and my current system is a Dell Dimension XPST500 which I upgraded to 1.2Ghz; 384 megs of ram; Diamond Viper 770 Ultra 32. It's an older system, sure.. but what the heck.Ideally, I'd love to be able to run dual monitors. (Ok, I fibbed. Ideally I'd like a full-motion, high-resolution, completely modular simulator platform and a lifetime tab at a good pizza joint)Anyway, certainly, I realize I need to update my video card. If I can ultimately expect better performance from a single monitor running 2002 fairly maxed, let me know. I'd like nothing (but view) in one monitor, and instruments in another.Without knowing where to …

I'm asking because I'm wondering if there's some way to feed FS -just- position data and possibly drive that view running from another computer. Also, if it could receive position data, you could use any simulator capable of dumping formatted position data to drive the visuals from within FS. I'm sure there would be "environmental mismatches" between programs, but it's just a thought.Andrew[edit: looking at the PSS 744 site made me think of this..]

Hi guys and girls!A thought had struck me earlier, as I was racking my brains trying to remember some advice someone had given many months ago. After trawling through the forums for ages I finally found something similar to what I was after, but the one thing I'm not happy about is having to trawl through everyone's website trying to find out different ideas.I was wondering, therefore, if it might not be a bad idea to collate anything that may be useful for anyone wishing to build a cockpit, or trying something new.It could be split up into different sections, one for each area of the cockpits. For example, you could have separate sections for the flight controls (coverin…

Does anyone else get grief from their family because of their obsession with flight sims?Quote from my mother when she saw the contents of the first picture."What are you trying to do, build a bloody plane?" - I did laugh.Quote from my girlfriend when she saw the contents of the second picture."What the f*** are they doing in the hall?" - I didn't laugh.Anyone had any gems of comments?Chriswww.virtual737.com - newly rebuilt and constantly updatinghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84398.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/84397.jpg

Hi I just cant seem to get the flashing part of FSBUS working???Anyway, if I flash using another PIC burner it works great. We (me and my colleague who is an electronics engineer) have tried everything. And I have come to the conclusion that I dont wanna spend more time on the flash part.So I have a kind request to some of you who has got the flashing part working. Could you please "grab" hexfiles for say the first 5 (or more) controller ID's for each expansion board.?? Please! Please Please! And a completely other thing:A friend sent me the AIRBUS A319 Flight Crew Operating Manual as PDF the other day. Its 921 pages long. And quite interesting.Email me if you are interest…

Hi allIn response to a few enquiries I have made an start on documenting the dimensions and construction of my 767 shell. If anyone is interested I will email the document to you. As I indicate in a readme file my shell is a representation of a 767 rather than an accurate replica, and the dimensions given are those of my shell. With hindsight I would make some changes if starting again and have noted these points in the Word document which includes photos and diagrams, and is about 500k.
