While looking around for a TV to invest some up-and-coming money into, I just happened to check best buy for a projector and its price. I stumbled upon this beauty (not having seen a 1600x1200 res projector for under $1600, my jaw dropped)...http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1169512757151Its on sale at Best Buy and I don't know how long the sale will last, but I'd advise picking one up...They can be used for HDTV use (by running the appropriate cabling from your HDTV box) and then switched quickly to your computer's output for flight simulation use.Just think, you could have 3 of these beauties (and then $300 for the Triple Head to Go) for nearly the price o…

I aspire to one day be able to build a 747 simpit. I've been doing some research on this, looking at the links provided on this message board and other message boards as well. Now I wanted to "maybe" in quotations, start off with the MCP. There is one on the GoFlight website that retails for $499. But I've been looking at how other people are building their MCPs from scratch. Now I guess there are different methods to interfacing a custom built MCP into FS2004. I was wondering if the keyboard hack applies to this kind of interfacing? I am looking at the PMDG MCP Keyboard commands section and I can assign keys to different buttons and switches on the PMDG 747 MCP. So I'm t…

Hello all,I am thinking about making a A320 cockpit. Well making in the sence to get it from Flight Deck Solutions and have it assembled.Since this is for a flight training school and that I have no experience on this field can all you experienced builders provide me some good ideas on the following. The main hardware will be purchased from Flight Deck Soluitonsand the software will be provided by AST -(advanced simulation Technology)flight simulators considered are FS9,FSX and X-Planewhich one of these 3 would allow me to easily get a 180 degree view with the front display of center line view. The left and right views and the Foreward left and right views. What are the goo…

I need help but I don't have an oscilloscope. What kind of checks can I do ?? Could be COM card error??Please help me...!!thanks a lot

This may be backwards way to go but i wanted to start with the hardest first. Can anyone help with some tips or explanation on how I get FSX to 'talk to the motors . I cant see any problem with metal fabrication which I enjoy but do I use the epic board ? I followed a link to classicsim and they had what I assumed was another way to go, some other boards with their own software? As I am in australia I guess I need to purchase this europe or states. Any pros and cons appreciated.thanks, Mike.

From researching on the interweb it seems many clever people have managed to get the offset values to work for PMDG MCP functions. I am mainly looking for the Display values, of which I plan to display on my Opencockpits display card using either the control program or SIOC... From what I can gather for instance the IAS display is Offset 6220 and the ALT display is 622E. Has anyone managed to get this working in SIOC or IOCards? If so how, what are the other paramaters?, and have you a sample of the code. Any help would be much appreciated. I plan to operate all other functions using Key to mouse.......

  12. Hi all,I am working actually to rebuild the landing gear lever system on the Boeing 737NG simulator. And as for the rudders, all that from very cheap hardware. It will cost approximately $10 Canadian...:) As I was not satisfied with the first one I had built, I decided to build new ones much close from the real ones. As soon as it will be completed I will add all details on my Web site with many photos and few comments. Isn't a photograph worth 1000 words??? Also upon the demands of many, as soon I will have free time, I will put more detailed photos on the throttles construction which is already completed since a long time and perfectly fonctionnal. Thank you Steve for y…

I did measure several times from the original plans to what I was going to cut. Anyhow, I probably need to buy a monitor for my setup. I was wondering if the lcd monitors with there adjustable arms can be pushed low enough. For example this one has Dimensions (W

I have had the honour of visiting a real CAE simulator a couple of months ago and since then there has been a thing running trough my mind. The 1 and only biggest thing I noticed different in the real sim compared to anything else I've had the oportunity of flying is that there is a lot of force needed in the real sim.I have been trying to work out a way in my mind to simulate this same thing in my home sim.To make it real, I would need little to no friction when the speed is close to 0kts. The faster the plane goos, the harder the controls become.I know that having a permanent magnet inside a coil makes it do weird stuff when power is turned on/off on the coil. I just…

Hey everyone,I wanted to announce my new site, formerly jaycosims_dot_com is now www.FlightDeckSoft.com. Please check out my new freeware gauge packages. All gauges run on local machine or over a network via WIDEFS and screen placements are saved so you don't have to set them up after each use. I am exited to know what people think of my EFS50 package. I spent a lot of time on these so I hope everyone enjoys. NOTE none of these have been tested with FSX, so please let me know if they work...they should as long as FSUIPC is working :)Regards,JasonFLIGHTDECKSOFT.COM

With the new release of MaxiVista v3 I was wondering if anyone has had experience with it on a multimonitor setup? Looks promising. I've just downloaded and run the demo which works well, however it only supports 1 extended monitor. You have to purchase to get multimonitor support! It's pretty cheap and, unlike WideView, doesn't require FS to be loaded on the network PC. Just drag windows to the network monitors for an extended panel. However what is the FPS hit?Ken.http://www.kennair.comSYSTEM: PC1-AMD Athlon XP 3200, 1Gb RAM,NVidia 6600GT 256Mb AGP & NVidia 6200 128Mb PCI,2x17" LCD's, 1x20" CRT.FS9 & FSX, IOCards, FSUIPC,PC2-AMD Sempron 2400, 512Mb RAM, ATI …
