Very small incandescent lamps are used in a variety of aerospace applications including light plates, annunciator panels and instruments. If you're trying to simulate any of these, you probably know how expensive these tiny bulbs are, generally well in excess of a dollar a piece.I recently ran across a much less expensive alternative. The local craft store is selling battery operated Christmas tree lights. The lamps are much smaller than the normal Christmas "mini-bulb". They appear to be close in size to a T-3/4 lamp, and operate on a nominal 3 volts. A string of 20 costs $2.49, while a string of 100 goes for $9.99. The lights I bought are sold under the "Bright Ti…

Hi Guys, I've been browsing through EPICMAPPER's webpage. I would need a few opinion, feedbacks or suggestion from you guys who owns it. Is it good? is it easy to use? If you were me, would you recommend me to buy it? I Have: Project Magenta Wide View EPIC and of course FS2002Let me know...

Hey everyone, Thanks for all the previous help and suggestions... After reading many articles, it seems to me like the Hagstrom Keyboard Encoder is probably the easiest way to do this setup (Engine starts, mags, alternators, lights). I starting pricing the toggle switch setup out , and I was starting to get about $12 per circuit... plus all the time, possible screw ups etc... figured theres gotta be an easier and better way!!Now for the questions:1) It sounds like I can still use my typing keyboard the same time this emulator is being used... Is this correct?? I'd like to be use VATSIM at the same time.2) How does the emulator communicate with flight sim 2002?? I see from…

Hello guys,Like many of you I also was curious about the measurements for building my ( 747 for me ) cockpit.Only where to get them.Tip : Get DXTbmp. Then with that go to your Fs2002/aircraft folder. There open the aircraft of your choice ( 747 - 737 - 777 etc ). In there there you find a folder called Texture. In that folder you will find bitmaps with all panelparts.Just open f.e. B 747_400_C and there you will find what you need.Further you need a poster from the cockpit you want.I myself have two from a 747-400 cockpit. The measurements for the displays I knew already, as also those for the MCP , EFIS and EICAS panel.By sending the opened bitmap to your favorite Paintpr…

I have a multicomputer flight desk running WidevieW. I like flying a wide variety of aircraft. It is a real pain to have to manually changes planes on all the clients. Does anyone know of a program that can be run from the "server" that will change the selected aircraft on the clients, set the location, and weather?Attached is a picture of the virtual cockpit configured with the Beech 18 Super G. I still need do some work to eliminate the overlaps bewteen views by adjusting magnification and view angle. The three center monitors are driven my the Matrox Parhelia card. The projection TV usually displays the spot plane view for any observers.Alan

Hello,I have 2 computers and 3 monitors, goflight modules and aerosoft MCP747... Anyone knows if it's possible to run Project Magenta in the same computer that runs FS2002 ? I have a GF4TI4200 dual head, but OpenGL performance looks bad using the same video board..maybe it's better to add another video card ?In my other computer I did some tests with Magenta and FreeFD and both runs fine, but I'm not sure what is the best panel setup I can get...any suggestion ?I'm not sure if I undock panel or if I use magenta...I was thinking in a setup like this:Machine 1:XP2000 GF4 2 monitorsFS + undocked panel (which panel / aircraft ?)Machine 2:PIII700 GF2 1 monitormagenta or FreeFD…

I thought it better to open a new thread, as the pictures in the other thread take a long time to load everytime. To come back on the questions of Firmo in the other thread: "I hope you will have the time to do a more detailed document on adding force feedback to home-build yoke"---> I try to document all my projects when finished. However, this project still has some serious loose ends, related to your other questions: "Is it realistic to have a yoke or joystick jumping in your hands and resisting every move you try to make?" ---> I don't think so. Some explanation: 1. I'm no pilot, so the real pilots out there, please comment when I'm wrong.2. I'm using Flight Unli…

Hello everyone,I'm new to this forum and I'm planning to build a homebuildcockpit.I'm dreaming of a replica of the 747-400 cockpit but I know I can'trealise that cause the lack of knowlache of the epiccard. So I snuffeld around to know what you can buy to make it as real as it gets and to my surprise there are already a lot of systems that you can buy like com and nav systems and fully working autopilot with all the cool digits and stuff. and I will use the keybord emulator. So I want to build a cockpit that can handle 4 engines and looks like a big jet (like the 747) but also could be something else.I want to buy a very big monitor for just the forward outside view.I'm thi…

Hi,I started out with two monitors than I bought an AETI yoke and got rid of my CHproducts crap, added 7 Go Flight modules, and now I find myself building a low budget home cockpit. What really bugs me is that I cannot find a GA glasscockpit. All I can see is specialised airliner stuff. The TRC stuff is way out of my price league. There must be some single or twin engine GA stuff or is there not?Pls help.Alex

Hi guys,in my quest for a throttle that I could integrate in my new low budget GA home cockpit I stumbled over this one:http://www.flightlink.com/hardware/fixedwing/tpq.htmlI really like it as it is a little easier to integrate in my middle console than the PFC one. It also offers reverse thrust that the PFC only overs with the tubo prop quadrant. The version offered with the link is a version for the flightlink console, but at a price of 40US$ you get an additional box that makes it USB and fully FS2002 compatible. The only thing I do not know is how good the feel and quality is. Any advise from you guys?Alex
