Hi everyone......I'm curious as to the programmability of the Boeing Project Magenta software.....Does the software allow the user to reprogram where the information is displayed...its colours and its size? Also, can I use the Proj Mag software if I am building a 757 or 767 sim...ie: display configs for those aircraft?I've tried mailing PM about this, but no reply.....Perhaps they are all too busy counting all their money!!Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!CheersNick

I am building my throttles. Can anybody suggest sources of good quality pots that I can buy from? Thanks,Pramod

Hi All,I'm using FSUIPC to write to the offsets for the Project Magenat FCU (specifically to update the altitude setting via offset 5418, bits 6 and 7) and I have a question.I have a rotary enc connected via the serial port. I monitor the port, and for each "click" I set the values via the offsets. But it seems very slow. I know from profiling the code that the delay is not in reading the serial data, not in writing to the FSUIPC. It seems that the delay is basically the latency between writing to the offset, and the FCU reading this and doing its updates.Does anyone know how fast I can do these updates (rate per second etc), or/and what rate the FCU reads from these offs…

I wonder if anyone who has the Advanced Flight Control System - III USB would be kind enough to let me know their opinion on this product.I tried the new CH Product yoke and to be honest it turned out to be terrible - was not a smooth action even with lubrication.Advanced Flight Control System yoke is over $1100 Australian hence my apprehension.Anyway any info would be appreciated.thanks in advance,Richard

Guys,I'd like to build my own custom controls, and I'm wondering what's the best software interface to use for FS2002?Am I right in thinking FS2002 uses DirectX for input?Does anyone know how the commercially available panels handle the interface?Just simulating keyboard input seems a bit clunkyAnd what about output for dial's, display etc?Sorry if it's a lot in one go

Hi,I/m mucking about with the FreeFD Glass cockpit stuff as a prelude to starting a multiple system cockpit.I can only get the Nav Display to work. The other modules throw some generic XP error at me, which is no help in isolating my problem!Has anyone here used these systems and can give me a few pointers? (esp. about min. spec. machines for running them on)I can't get through to the forums at the website. Many thanks,Gareth Evans

Has anybody considered OOPIC microcontrollers for controlling LEDs, switches and rotaries?I'm interested to know if anyboday uses this and in what capacity. I would like to experiment with it as an alternative to the EPIC card for controlling the above items.Anyone?Chris

Seeing many many complex cockpit projects with lots of working switches, knobs, encoders and even flight computers (!!!) i came up with a very huge question:how do they interface them?Last time i exchanged emails with Peter Dowson (author of FSUIPC) he told me that every commercial airplane developer (this includes Dreamfleet, PSS, and others) refused to provide external interfaces. This (in simple words) means:with fsuipc you can build anything that completely controls FS... until you load a commercial airplane.Ever tried to change the altitude value of the autopilot with any commercial airplane? No effect (i tried) for any PSS.I assume no effect for the DF737 as well. This i…

I am thinking of jumping back into desktop cockpit building, and I am curious - Does anyone run Project Magenta displays through a *TV*-style monitor? I am looking into some display units from Parts Express (link : http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...ID=16107&DID=7) and they accept "video in" signals. I know that video is not as good as VGA, but I can't find any VGA-compatable displays that would fit my budget.Do the PM displays look very degraded? Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks for any input...-Greg

Hi Guys!I have a full set of B757 panels in either Corel Draw (vectors) or .bmp or .jpg graphics that I would like to swap for the equivalent for a B737_700/800.Does anyone have something similar to the below picture...?If you print these out/send them to a print firm, they will be full sized panels, ready for laser etching and back-lighting. 100% accurate and used for training purposes.Anybody want to do a swop?Cheers

Question if anyone can help......!!Has anyone come across a paint that can be used to provide the "background" to a piece of perspex that has good uniform light diffusing/illuminating qualities that could be used for panel backlighting >??Also, laser etching....where is this done typically? Commercial printers....prontoprint?!!!HELP!!!!!!!Thanks

Hi,In a Boeing cockpit, when the autopilot commands a (for example) right-climbing-turn the flight crew can see the yokes turn right, slide back a bit, and the throttles move up the pedestal. Does anyone know how this can be replicated for a home cockpit?Cheers.

...just in case anyone is interested :) Brand new design, easier navigation, etc... etc...Although I haven't begun physical construction yet, maybe other folks might find some of the preliminary work interesting. I've been spending alot of time lately on the software components of my project, which I've (barely) begun detailing on my site. I definitely welcome any comments/suggestions!Brandonwww.project737.net

I've been tinkering with ideas for making simulated flight instruments. Most recently I've been focussing on air-core meter movements. These form the basis for many automotive and marine tachometers, speedometers and gauges. Rather than buying the finished units, I have been trying to build them from inexpensive, readily available materials. I've had some modest success and have posted some pictures and information at www.mikesflightdeck.com/aircore_instruments_1.htm. I haven't packaged the movement to look like a flight instrument yet, but that will come. In the meantime, perhaps the info and pix will be of help to some of you pursuing similar goals.Mikewww.mikesfli…

Hi Everybody, A few months back, I promised to upload photos of my sim with Go Flight hardware installed. I finally went ahead and tackled this feat, and have been very happy with the results. In the pictures below, you can see a GF-166 being used for the Radio Management Panel and a GF-45 being used for the transponder.http://www.promfd.com/NewProject/gf166a_small.jpg http://www.promfd.com/NewProject/gf166b_small.jpghttp://www.promfd.com/NewProject/gf45f_small.jpg http://www.promfd.com/NewProject/gf45c_small.jpg The GF-45 took a bit of work to install since they weren't designed to be mounted like this, but the conversion only consisted of running ribbon cables …

Hello all! A while back, we had a really nice discussion thread going on about flight sim history. Unfortunately, we lost all the stories when the forum system was updated. I have started another seperate forum this time and would like all builders to provide their "It all started when..." stories. This is a relatively young hobby, so it would be great if we could start documenting the history of it while all the "vets" are still building :-).Flight Sim History Discussion:http://pub37.ezboard.com/bthe777projectRobert

A question for fligt deck builders. What resolution do you use for your external view, 800x600 or 1024x768? Since there is close to a $1,000.00 difference between SVGA and XGA projectors, what's the downside of using SVGA (800x600) resolution?Richard

Anyone running Windows XP and FS2002 with wideview and latest versionof FSUIPC. After 2-3 sec once fs2002 has started, fs2002 shutsdownwith no error message. Thanks

Folks,Version 2 of the small keyboard mapping application is now available in the file archives. As with the original application, this app will let you assign a single keystroke to be mapped to a keystroke sent to any application - useful for using hacked keyboards with home built cockpits.Version 2 allows key-sequences to be assigned to a single key press - so for example, the key sequence "ABC" that must be sent to App1 can now be triggered by pressing (say) just the "a" key.In addition, these key sequences can be triggered from a joystick button. I am using this to send the transmit code to RogerWilco from a joystick button. Actually, the app will allow you to monitor…

I've seen a professional ifr-mcc simulator. It uses a plane screen, but the projector is placed on the top of the cabin (approx 2,5m maybe 3m height) and the cone is oriented toward the pavement. As to say the projector fires at approx 45
