At this moment I have finished my project of manufacturing a CDU, that includes double side printed circuit, a programmed Hagstrom SMD chip keyboard emulator, including USB output. The panels will be made by CNC in 3D, the keys are individually backlit. There is a possibility of two parallel keyboards (a Chip for two CDU). Hagstron sells minimun 10 programmed units of this CI SMD , I need to share the manufacturing expenses. The quality and similarity with the original CDU's are very high, the approximated final price of the manufacture cost is not high:52 momentary switches-backlit(Cosmos AEO Switches)......$59,0012 normal momentary switches............................$ …

I just read the documentation at the Project Magenta site where they suggest a min. CPU of 350mhz for a single PC to run the PFD/ND module. How accurate is this and would it do the job comfortably? Given that multiple PC's will be needed for optimal PM set-up, I'd like to get good performance but not go over the top if you know what I mean.Thanks.Nick

I've got my three computers now, lined up and ready to take on the FS world. My question has to do with how much Wideview will slow down my systems.Right now I'm running FS2K2 on a XP 2400, 9800Pro, 512 RAM. It runs acceptable for me now, never dipping below 16FPS (although 3D mark scores are very, very low but does that really matter?).I've got all my extra software (RC v3, Squawkbox, Activesky, WideFS, RW, and ACARS) running on a Celeron 500, GeForce 2 MX, 256 RAM. Can I use this as a wideview client and how would it perform? Any ideas and is anyone else using such a lowly computer for their outside view? If I can use this as an outside view, I'd move all my other …

Hello everyone. There was some discussion a while ago about "fast" rotary solutions. With my hardware setup, I wasn't able to implement a hardware-based solution. So instead I tried a software based approach and it seems to work pretty good. The software detects your turn rate and if it

I am building a Flight Simulator Cockpit (a "SimPit") patterned after the Douglas DC-3. It's a two seater - so I can share the flight experience with my sons and friends. I am having a blast with this project.http://home.earthlink.net/~rschoolf/images/v21.jpgHere are my design goals:1. Try to stylize the cockpit after the Douglas DC-3. 2. Obtain maximum "suspension of disbelief" with minimum effort and cost. 3. Build an enclosed two-seat cockpit, and try to make it fit in the family room. 4. Interface dual mechanical yokes, dual rudder pedals, and throttle quadrant to joystick innards. 5. Remove the requirement to use a mouse and keyboard, by using switches to control…

All you guys playing with FSbus that can't read German, here is a link to the German Flight Xpress forum where the Author of FSbus, Dirk, participates in discussions, I just noticed tonight he is working on Version 2.0 with some screenshots. This link should automatically translate the pages for you to some broken english but you should get the gist of what they are talking about.http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...-8%26oe%3DUTF-8Cheers Glenn.

Hi all,A friend and I are building a B747-400 cockpitAnd: its all Linux based :-)))We use flightgear as our simulator. see signature for link.Nearly everything is home made. Many ideas of other builders were incorporated into our ideas.Right now we are focusing on the MCP (both panel and electronics)and the throttle unit. Our electronics stuff will be based on Microchip's PIC microcontrollers(mainly 16F628 and 16F87x). We plan to release our code and schematics under the GNU Public License (GPL). (there's already some code on our site)I'm also working on Glass Cockpit software for X11 that does NOT need OpenGL, to allow utilising older Pentium class PCs for the displays. Her…

I have just received my first PCBs for FSBUS. My source that etched them told me that his operation can supply the boards fully furnished. However, he wanted to know how many of which boards so that he could give an accurate price. Therefore, if there are any individuals who would like to add there names to the list, let me know. It should be stated that any communication of wants or desires is not a contract of sale, nor is there any implied contract to produce components at this time.In two weeks, I shall tally the results from any emails that I receive and submit the total to my supplier. When I have a firm price, I will email the interested parties and we will take…

and I know this doesn't fit this forum exactly, but maybe somebody can point me in the right direction.I am trying to find a way to connect the external microphone line from my camcorder into a jack for the intercom system of our general aviation Cherokee. I need to know whether or not I can cut off the actual microphone, and solder on a jack to plug into the intercom system. Can anyone tell me if this will work? And, if you know, how exactly would I wire this jack connection?Any help greatly appreciated,Mike

Im just curious what I would be looking at for cost on a a320 or similar panel. It would be totally enclosed.not including cost of computers. what would be the best method to go. Project majenta seems to be the most cost efficient way of going. I have access to lots of old hard ware for little to no cost. I can find some monitors pretty cheap too.I would like the ability to operate some systems with the use of switches, buttons and such. Pretty much eliminating the need for a keyboard.I would love to build some form of enclosed cockpit. just as in real life.Im curious what method I should use to display the outside cockpit view. I dont much like the idea of staring at mul…
