Has anyone out there figured out how to use the FSBUS AD board? I have mine working fine and am trying to use a 100k pot for my flaps. The problem is hoe to set up the router to work properly. I wish I could read german! :) I can't seem to get the nack of what and how to adjust the variables, like divide, multiply, etc. What I want is at a certain pot reading, output a specific flap setting. Thanks,ROb

Hi Guys,My sons computer has become available to me, although I have no room for the monitor, I have bought a video switch so I can see the desktop on my main computer. Its home built - Athlon XP1700 512mb ram.I already run another computer which I use for project magenta, I do have a lot of scenery and add - on programs etc, although my main FS computer is Athlon 2.2 - 1.5 Gb ram - Gforce 4 Ti 4600, it still 'bends' under the weight of all these extra programs running at the same time as FS2002 and frame rates are now down to 12fps with all setting max-ed out, (yes I know I should turn them down but the eye candy is not as nice!)Is there any way I can run 'inbuilt' add-o…

Just had another thought on multiple keypresses, such as Shift-G for example, of coarse wiring the (shift) key & the letter key (G) to a double pole switch will give erratic results as the (G) contacts could possibly make before the (shift) contacts in the switch, therefore the character contacts have to be delayed by a certain amount of time, this could be achieved by a relay but would be much more expensive, Has anybody tried a simple coil on the character line to delay the current flow, this would be a very cheap & easy alternative & the coil would simply be in series with the switch. I am not sure of the timing factors involved but once known we should be …

GuysI have seen some cockpit builders or manufacturers using sliding or rotary linear potentiometers for toe brake along with rudder. I have also seen some of them using momentary push buttons. Now question is, what are the difference? how would that affect on FSUIPC if using sliding potentiometers or push buttons? I am at the final stage on "mechanical structure" for rudders, the captain side and first officers side. And I am about to start up with wiring, but yet I have not begun... The only thing stopping me from doing it is because I could not determine which components I could use to apply FSUIPC. Which of those components would be best to use for FSIUPC? As for Yaw…

Dear All,This is an admission, as I have wrestled with the sheer stupidity of building a cockpit, not to mention the cost, and yes despite this I am now in the planning stage for a 737/757 sim, well probably the latter. I am a UK PPL and stockbroker and IT addict.I have surfed the web, loitered on this NG, but the time has come to fess up and admit that as much as I try to resist -it is futile. So here I am, I dont know a pot from a transisitor, and epic from a saga. I would like to run my game plan past you, and I would welcome any comments.Stage OneBuild a loft conversion (we need the space as well honest):-)AssetsP4 2Gig with 1024mb Rambus Ram and 64mb Geo3 card P3 75…

OK I have etched the 7-segment boards the right way round now & have checked that the 16 pins buzz out fine between the controller board & the display card, however I cannot get the Display test in the router to make the dsplay work. The PIC programs fine, when I do the voltage tests on the PIC pins that all looks OK too, just no display. I am using common cathode modules that have 5 pins at the top & bottom of the module, Pin 8 & Pin 3 are the cathode pins.Any help with some other things to check would be appreciated. One other thing is in the Dispay Test in the router there are three buttons marked "button2" "button3" "button4".....does anyone know what th…

Hi all.I don't why I didn't post this earlier. This is the rotary encoder we used in our radio stack. They work great & they only cost $1.29 USD. We get them from Switch Channel in Los Angeles. Their web site is www.switchchannel.com & the ones we used are RE11CT-V1Y12-AF2CS.Any questions, give me a yell. I would post a picture of the stack, but I don't know how.Regards,Jim

I have enough takers for Knitter switches to let me go ahead and place an order. Before I do so, here's a last chance posting for anyone else who wants some. The price is going to work out to about $4.50 per switch, plus mail from me to you (I'm in California, USA) once I get them, but that will go down a bit more if I get any more takers. For anyone who hasn't been following the knitter switch discussions, these are rotary switches which send a series of momentary (ON) signals across one pair of terminals if turned one way, and a series of momentary (ON) signals across a second pair of terminals if turned the other way. They are thus perfect for any type of "turn…

http://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=2613&page= here is the topic in which LeoL shares with us his creation. With just a low-cost pic programmer (like JDM) and a free programming soft, we can all happily use the cheap (compared to Knitter) rotaries :)Now many of those who don't really are into electronics, may struggle for attaching it to FSBUS or Epic. Here is the solution:MAX4611 or MAX4616.Go to www.maxim-ic.com and insert just the number for part search (just 4611 or 4616, no leading "MAX").These are just 4 switches condensed in a small 14 pin dip package (just like the microcontrollers), on one side they are connected to the RD-PAN16F, on the other sid…

Could somebody help me out with the fsdisp8d.ps file that is supplied in the original FSdisp.zip file.I have etched the 7-segment display boards using that file & upon closer inspection I have found that they are in fact a mirror image of what I really need to work with the press-n-peel method.I have downloaded Gerbview & tried looking at the original grb files but they have a couple of solder pads that do not seem to be spaced properly for the 7-segment displays & no drill holes.I need somebody to regenerate the .ps file in the correct format for me.Can anyone help.Cheers Glenn

I am taking my PPL at the moment and my project is to help me during training phase, so I am building a small Cessna look&feel cockpit. At the same time one of my goal is to give an idea that this hobby doeas not require much space and money to get started. Of course if you want to build B747, it is a different thing. But pilots who flies those birds starts with small ones as well so we might call this approach `as real as it gets

An advantage that it seems to have is that you get a 747 MCP as well.WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK ABOUT THIS PRODUCT IN RELATION TO THE EPIC?Just a quick discussion!:-)AV8TR

Hi all,Finally I got it. After many experiments I found the magic material for building your onw gears (you can also use it for other shapes). It is called "Propoxy 20" made by Hercules Chemical Co. Inc (www.herchem.com).The company makes the steel hard, non conductive putty for plambers, but I found it is easy to use for making all other shapes. After hardning (20 minutes) you can drill it, file it or saw it.From the producer site;"Pro poxy 20 is a fast acting, co-extruded single stick, epoxy putty. Made of a pre-measured, steel reinforced dark gray/black epoxy resin with a contrasting strip of hardener embedded in the center. The two part epoxy compound mixes quickly an…

I need help with determining setup and settings for using front projection for my FS2k2 front view. I realize this is a "your mileage may vary" kind of situation but will help me find a starting point.Questions:1. How far in front of windscreen should the projection screen be situated?2. How far back from the screen should I place the projector (ceiling mounted)? 3. What eyepoint and zoom setting should I use in FS2k2?My projector is a native 1024x768 with a normal (i.e. not wide angle)lens and unfortunately no keystone correction. Cockpit is a partially constructed B737-700.Any tips on how you derived your setup would be as or even more helpful than the raw numbers.Th…

I just wanted to pass on a tip using press-n-peel iron on transfers for circuit board etching that seemed to work a bit better for me as I was getting some undesirable results going by the instructions in the pack. After doing some hunting around on the web I found that different laser printers use different toners that have varying melting temperatures, so you will have to experiment a little depending on the printer you are using.I am using a HP Laserjet 6P with original HP toners & I found that if I use a high temperature on the Iron, my setting was on cotton ( Gee's I'm starten to sound like an old woman) Make sure the copper is rubbed back nice & clean, I used…

Hello folks,I was wondering if any of you have tried the ATI Radeon 7000 32MB DDR PCI w/ TV out for a multimonitor setup? I'm currently running my PC on a Geforce3 TI200 for my main monitor and a TNT2 PCI card for my second monitor, I read putting a 2nd tnt2 card (w tv out?) conflicts with another tnt2 card that's installed in a pc? This is why I'm thinking of getting a radeon 7000 for my third monitor setup... this 3rd monitor will run my airbus mcdu display. :) I need a TV out so I can output my pc display to a 5" LCD TFT TV. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!Cheers,Peter BinamiraProject Airbus
