Hi again, all.After my post on connection issues, here are some of the questions I still have in mind, even though I read the SB tutorial or manual. Keep in mind I only know on on-line flying what I think I understood from the manuals (no experience so far):1- what is the difference between Vatsim and Ivao? Which one should I try first?2- Is it better to get started, to communicate with the controllers in writting (chat box) or by voice (Roger Vilco)?3- Do I really need to have (and to get use to) ALL the charts of where I intent to fly or can I imagine to rely on the controllers for those I don't have?4- Is there any place around where it is admissible to speak french?5-…

Got a question I hope can be answered. I've noticed that while flying around using SB and FS2002 that the weather is never actually IFR. The ceilings are usually no less than 4000 and visibility always greater than 5-6 miles. Is there any way to shoot an ILS to minimums using the SB weather. As I understand it, this weather is generated (or stored) on specific weather servers that are accessed and download the weather into MSFS. I love using SB, but wish that realtime weather was used. I am flying around in my virtual world with ceilings of 7000 Scattered and 15 miles visiblity, while outside the weather is 200 ceilings with 1/4 visibility. Any suggestions would be great.…

Ok guys...I've been a flyer on line for some time now, and I'm ready (i think!) to try some controlling.....I've tried clicking on the pro-controller on line manual..."how to" links, but all are broken...I can't find any text anywhere that simply describes what I need to do to get on line as multi player controller.....Can some one please give me the quick "idiots guide!" or point me to a link that works which describes what I must do....Many thanksMon

Let me start off by saying that I know nothing about the technology that makes SB and Multiplayer work but I do have a question..Is is possible (or will it be in the future) to combine SB Online play and AI traffic (like Project AI). Perhaps this could be done in such a way that on the individual user sees the AI traffic and VASIM runs per normal. Now there would have to be some mechanism to control the direction of TO and Landing, separation, etc. If this could be done it would make for an amazining experience.Just wondering....Mark.

Everything works in window mode, but in Fullscreen mode I can't get HostSB OR the chat box to stay active in the window. HostSB will appear briefly when activated then become invisible, but the application will still be running in the background. I am unable to make it reappear, and therefore unable to read text mssgs or use TCAS or FM. Also, if I press , the chat box will appear for a fraction of a second and then disappear! I've been away from online flying for a while, and when I went to connect SB through the US server at 161.58.94.169 I usually used, I got an error saying that the operation timed out. I've also tried putting 127.0.0.1 in "Internet Address of Server," but an error message states that the attempt to connect was forcefully rejected.I am using DX8.2 and Win98 SE, but I thought the DX issue only concerned FS2002 multiplayer, not the functioning of SB.ThanksRay - N89864

Hi,I am running WideFS with FS2002 on Computer 1 and SquawkBox on Computer 2. This all works fine. I want to run RogerWilco on Computer 1 to let the aircraft sound and the ATC sound merge. Can the system be configured such that RogerWilco will automatically follow the ATC selection that I make on SquawkBox?Sounds like a pretty trivial question, but I didn't find the answer.Thanks in advance.Regards,Jan van Bekkum

Hi,I'm really new with the whole online ATC thing. I made one flight using the text ATC with SB and then did voice once but almost immediately my system crashed. I found the problem with another background program, but my flight was lostQuestion 1: Does anybody know if there is any way I can resume where I was or at least get back to my flight plan in the sim or do I have to start over?Totally different subject...Question 2: My guidebook from Microsoft says to just be an observer for awhile and not actually fly a flight but just listen in. RW connects as advertised. Then after initial contact to controller, I hear him, and he hears me OK. Then it quits. Won't work either way. Have to then go to text.I saw a thread where the McAfee Firewall was causing problems. I have the PC-Cillin virus program and firewall. Could this (firewall) possibly be the problem? Every time I try to use the fly direct option on the FMS I receive the critical error plus "Cannot find xxx.dat file are you sure all dat files are in the same directory as squawkbox.exe?"The short answer is yes there are, for instance if I wanted to fly direct to a vor it would give me the above error and the file it could not find would be vor.dat...and the file is there.Has anyone else had this issue? appreciate some help here.ThanksCatmar

2 questions on SB/VATSIM1) I don't seem to have much success with Autoatis. The procedure as I understand it is: - Tune AutoAtis frequency for desired Airport - Type anything and send in chatbox.Is this correct, it never seems to work for me. How close do I have to be to get the result?2) When you have "tuned" in the channel of the ATC either directly on SB or through Serverinfo guage do you still need to type in the controler ID. ex. typing "ORD_TWR AA123 Cleared to land...."or just "AA123 Cleared to land" and send. thanks,Mark.

Trying PC for the first time...I use CONNECT diaglog box and get a pop-up "private chat" window asking me to log in. After entering login syntax I hit enter, and the box just sits there. No aircraft appear on the screen. Even playing with the options (i.e. floors, ceilings) nothing shows up. The "who's online" option never shows anyone online (atc or pilot), and trying to PING results in neither an error message nor a positive ping result. However, I THINK Im connected for two reasons;1. I never receive an error message, and 2. When I choose to disconnect it states "disconnected from server" in bottom window. I know there are aircraft in the vicinity via Whazzup.I have…

I hope someone can help with this problem.Whenever I have squawkbox open, it shows a headwind. Even throughout a 360 deg. turn there will be a headwind. It usually is about 50kts, but is often around 200kts & has been up to 500kts.The winds in my flightsim & FS Navigator are correct & it appears that the aircraft flies according to these winds. However, ATC & servinfo seem to get their info from the squawkbox readings. Consequently, I often have controllers asking me if there's a problem or to speed up.I do use FS Meteo, but I've tried it without it enabled & with the 'clear all weather' option on, but there is still a headwind. Everything with SB runs fine until I click on "Click Here to Get Into The Action." After that, I get a scrolling message on FS2002 welcoming me to SB, but I don't see the main program box. The manual is not showing pictures, so I'm not even sure what I'm looking for. But, inside the SB host window is nothing. SB is just invisible. Any ideas?

Guys, I need help. Squawkbox has decided it no longer wants to add rain or any precipitation for that matter when online. To my knowledge I haven't changed any fsuipc settings, I've reinstalled FS, fsuipc, squawkbox.. nothing.Winds and clouds are ok but no rain when it clearly shows it in an online METAR... nada. I've reset fsuipc to normal defaults, and would be interested if anyone has seen this... or if there is a checkbox in fsuipc I have checked or unchecked.I have latest versions of SB and fsuipc, on FS2000.Any help would be appreciated.MicTic

It's here at last. I've just released UKRoute Version 1.0. This is an electronic version of the Standard Route Document for flying IFR in the UK. It is available for download from www.hawarden.org.uk/ .Just look in the download section. Be sure to download its accompanying file which is the data for this airac cycle . . yes it will be updated every airac with "Real World Nav Data". An absolute must if your'e going to fly online. Hi,When parked at a gate at Amsterdam Schiphol airport (EHAM) I get very big negative numbers in my SquawkBox TCAS screen. Other aircraft, as well the ones on the ground, as the ones in the air, are all at relative heights like -140911000... As soon as I am in the air, the numbers go back to normal values. I have not experienced this at other airports. I guess it might be caused by the fact that Schiphol airport (EHAM) is below sea level? Is that true and is there a solution for this artefact?I am using the Lago EHAM2002 scenery. Another strange thing is that I see other planes but I am not visible myself. hi ,i was using SB witout any problems for half year... but today i've experienced some hard to solve problem Ok - so procedure is usual: creating multi session in FS -> sb host -> sbox -> search -> join - everything is working fine but when i'm switch back to Fs and open "host options" there is no Sqawkbox " player " in multi. session. The result is lack of messages from SB diplayed on green tape and also when SB tries to add plane i get error ( picture atteched below )i'm using win xp pro with firewall off , fsuipc 2.92 , fs2002 pro :-zhelp regardsEricson
