Having played RC v3 without background aircraft sound for three months, I finally saved sufficient money from my red packet to buy a new sound card. I would like to discard my SB vibra 128 for a new one. Which one is sure to work with RC v3 without any sound problem ?

......and filled my harddrive to the limit! Properties for the main FS2K2 folder are showing 23 Gig...crikey! A careful search of all my folder properties in FS shows about 6 Gig, as I know it was a few days ago. Somethings rotten, that's for sure. Did all the normal stuff like virus scans, scandisk, defrag. Running Win98 with no partitions set up. Two days ago I had 17 Gig of free space on a 40 Gig HD, now it's full.... too weird. Can't even get FS running now as I get a msg that Drive C is full, etc.Anyone ever hear of this?Best, Rob

Hi, I am a very happy user of RC3, just three flights so far, This is what I did yesterday in the PSS Dash 8.SKBO-via ZIP DP- BUV,BGA,SKCC 220 NM, 1:20 min of flight.Try to fly out from SKBO on the 13L This has to be done all manual, turning left @ 600' MSL banking at 25 degrees on 6% climb rate not exceeding 185 Knots, making almost a U turn to join the ZIP transition.Just45 min after your done with the departure do this approach:I am descending over a very montanious area, some peaks are over the 11000', getting very close to destination (1055' above Sea level). I have already checked on my flight Planning and know that in the route I am descending now my MSA is 13…

Finally received RC3, so far I liked it. Specially when I didn't putted the transponder code and after T/O the controller advice me and only after the correct code he said "Radar contact" (well, I expected Identified), nice touch Lisboa control and not Lisbon center. My doubt concerns the use of two sound boards. Is it possible to direct RC3 sounds to a specific board? since I have one for speakers and other for headphones.Thank you Jos

Well, I have RTFM, flown several tutorials and have concluded that RC3 needs much more work. The ATC chatter is arbitrary, too loose, not professional, not related to anything going on with the current flight. This is particularily true when taxiing out. RC3 doesn't have a clue as to what airport the FS is using. Using both FSATC and RC3 is, well, a cluge and not what a simulator should be. Getting radar vectors around "phantom" traffic is silly and not realistic. I have over 7000 hours in light single and multi-engine planes, about 5000 as CFI. I fly my own plane now, a homebuilt which is IFR and night capable. I don't any longer fly into the big $$$$ landing-fee termina…

About to start recording and looking ahead to post-recording, I would wecome suggestions please for suitable sound editing programs able to trim, equalize and normalize. SoundForge (full edition) is too expensive for just this limited use. Are there any limited editions out there of SoundForge or other programs which will do the job?

Hi, folks-After upgrading to 3.01, I seem to have run into what is (for me) a reproducible bug. I find that if I let RC ATIS repeat more than twice, FS will crash. This seems to happen in any aircraft and under different weather conditions. If I stop ATIS after the first runthrough and move on to clearance everything seems to be OK. The exact point at which it crashes seems to change, but it always seems to be after ATIS has repeated at least twice.I'm running RCv3.01 under Windows XP Pro at normal priority. The problem occurs with no other utilities running (FSMeteo, FSMaintenence, etc.).Can anyone using 3.01 under XP try sitting at the gate and listening to ATIS fo…

I have used the earlier version of RC and thought I would have no problems with the latest version. Big mistake.I`ve loaded a flight plan and the green band with writing in it is at the top of my screen. I minimise it but when I press 1, I get `12195` lots of squares and `main`.Nothing else happens and also, there is no sound from RC.I`d be grateful for some help.Cheers

Hi, I have upgraded to 3.01, I am also experiencing hard freezes. When I first start Radar Contact and hit #1 to listen to the weather briefing, I find it a little slow (or pausing). I may let the weather briefing run through twice or even listen to a current weather briefing just before I take off. The real problem I am experiencing is during flight, I have these hard freezes. I'll be flying along and whenever Radar Contact comes into play (whether I have to contact approach or centre or Radar Contact gives me instructions), my computer will freeze for a good 4 seconds and then start up again. This freezing can happen before takeoff, during flight or after landing. With t…

Hi,after I finished my 2nd flight with RC3 which went very nice (1st was a mess ;) there was an option for "Final Ciritic" or so that spoke about my little failures. As that was spoken very fast I didn't understood it and was missing a text beeing repeated in the RC window representing the critism.(That guy sounded angry o_O )Maybe a logfile would help to see what went wrong.A similar final report like shown by LAGO FS Maintenance would be very nice in RC3.

Guys The only reason I liked F2002's ATC/flight planner is because they have a transparent Text along with the option lists. Scrolling text message wouldn't matter to me either. So I am wondering if Radar Contact would include scrolling/text message?? I would need it because I have deaf brother who needs to understand the converstation between fliers and Controller(we even get to fly FS2002 together sometimes). I remember back then, When I purchase Pro Pilot 98... they did not include the text and that turns me off completely and never wanted to buy other flight/radar plan unless it's downloaded for free. Now this time I can see RCV.3 is much more better than FS2002's…

Trying out Beta 3.01 today... FS2K2, WinXP, PIC, ActiveSky wxRE, 2.95/5.3.Flight plan was KSFO.OAK.RBL.OED.EUG.UBG.LAKER.KPDXObservations:(1) I typically launch ActiveSky wxRE, then FS, and then RC. Before I launch RC, I position the a/c at the departure airport gate. When RC launches, it causes ActiveSky to switch to force destination wx (checks the box for me) and causes incorrect ATIS reporting at the departure point. If I watch ActiveSky and uncheck the box immediately then the ATIS is reported correctly.(2) All was fine on the route of flight until OED (aprox 200 miles out). Right after OED, I received a descent from FL390 to FL330. No problem. Aprox two minut…

Folks:Flying the DreamFleet 737 w/FMS, LNAV and VNAV engaged. RC3 always starts me down 20 to 30 miles before I want to start the descent (per the FMS). How do I go about delaying the descent until I'm ready? Is there a way to ask for a "pilot's discretion" descent, or do I have to request a higher altitude? In real life you can usually negotiate something with ATC (usually but not always). If this has been beaten to death before I apologize. I did a search on "pilot's discretion" and didn't find anything useful....Cheers,

I have read that some using adventure display had the "wrong" version of 1.97 and were advised to get the new one.I checked my version 1.97 and the file is dated 11-22-2002.I downloaded the current one from Peter Dowson's site this eve and find that it is dated 8-12-22, several months older than the one I have.Which is the one I want to use to avoid getting the one that had problems?? Thanks for your time, Don Eliot

...I was just flying my first trans atlantic flight using RC3.0 and as I left the coast of N Ireland, ATC told me I was off course, and to fly heading 260'. Thing is, my flight plan, in FS2002 GPS and in FSNav4.0 indicated that I was right over the correct course, which was about 300'. 260' would have pointed me totally in the wrong direction, according to the FSNav map. Then they got arsey, until the fourth time, when I switched RC off. Unfortunately, I could only get VFR on the FS2002 atc. Damn shame... and I'd been flying for quite some time.It seems that there was some sort of discrepency between how the plan reads such a huge leap (from land waypoint East Altlanti…

I have a couple of quick questions to ask all you experts:1. I've searched the manual and can't find the keystoke "CS" to ask the controller to repeat his last transmission. Stupid question, but what is "CS"? Character space, ctrl-shift, carriage return (enter)?2. I've been to the local airport all my life (KCVG) and have never seen so many "go arounds" as I've seen in RCv3. I like boring routine flights! Please just let me land!! "Frontier 612, you're number two to land." Oh no, not again!!3. Why, when reading posts, looking at websites, etc., are Americans so far out-numbered by developers, re-painters, and programers from the UK and other places in Europe? Have you not…

I'm not very good with computers so please bare with me. I use XP home and ran defrag and that speeded up the voices somewhat. I've read the post about putting the above normal line in and am not sure where to put it. Does it go in the rcv3 exe file or the cmd exe file? and what is 96compac96 and where does that go? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
