The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Dear FlyII enthusiasts,I must thank all people very much for your nice words and thoughts, I read in the forum about me and my planes. Really You are very very kind and I hug all you!Special thanks and regards to my friend JOHNNY SVENNSON who, with his kindness and enthusiasm, help me to continue to make FLYII planes and for convincing me to release the alpha version this week end :-)Publicly, I want to thank the dear JEAN SEBATIER because he expleined me several mounts ago, step by step, the precise procedure to build an aircraft for FlyII with patience and kindness. Thank you Jean! Also I read of someone who asks you why the reasons I maked several projecs but no release…

A post from Lindy got me thinking. She was comparing Fly with The Other Sim, and had this to sat in favor of TOS:>Second -- eye candy. Pure and simple......tons of default >airports and airfields that have at least some buildings in >the area, most with some kind of taxiways and/or parking >areas. I've had this exact thought myself. The lack of airport scenery is one of Fly's biggest shortcomings. I can run TerraScene and navigate to my destination by pilotage, but the airport might not even be there (I've been unusually unlucky here, 3 of the 5 airports I've flown real life X/C's to are missing :-( ) Of the airports which are there, few have buildings,…

Dearests,I work on Pc baseb system but I know, sometime, there are problems with planes dysplaying for Mac users. like you know I want to upload my Citation x,Md80 and B737 this week end, but I'd like let to Mac users to see my plane correctly.I remember, when I maked some aircraft repaints in the past,I received some emails from Mac users that saw my planes TRASPARENT.If someboby can say me the reason of this problem,I can try to solve it for them.Thank you for your informations and a dear regard to all you.Giorgio [email protected]

Hi ForumRoberto VIGETTI has built a front 747-400 panel from picture. Lateral views are also part of the panel. This panel will work for all our B747-300, including all repaints.I just uploaded it to the library.EnjoyJeanhttp://www.pixup.com/pub/fly/fly2_747_400_pnl.jpg

Hi all,I just recieved Fly II this morning, and installed it as soon as I got home from school. I am incredibly impressed with this, and now the tough choice is eciding which simulator to fly in :-) I really hope to produce some addons in the future when I've got some more experience under my belt, but for now I guess I'm going to have to be content with all the wonderful addons I've picked up so far from the library and ROTW. 56K isn't fast enough for this hobby :-)Cheers,http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/edenw/FS_..._banner_je6.jpg

Hi allI am not ready with the Dutch airforce Pa19 ( but is goes steady and I hope to publish it in september after the hollydays) but I could not resist making this yellow bird.It is just the outside (the easiest part) but Jean Baruch from ROTWsend me some lovely pic`s.I asked him to do so ,because I want to make an nice French Pa19for the ROTW team.Jean wrote:I join you the four pictures of the French Army L-18c that I have. The yellow ones are the very aircrafts used in Algeria by ALAT for military operations, in particular on support of the Legion entrangere.Just two days ago I received the pic`s.Maybe one of the ROTW members can tell me the mascotte of thisALAT regimen…

Continuing the California tour, repairs for the following approaches have been uploaded:BFL - Bakersfield, ILS Rwy 30RLGB - Long Beach, ILS Rwy 30LAX - Los Angeles ILS Rwy 24RSAN - San Diego ILS Rwy 09SNA - Santa Ana/John Wayne ILS Rwy 19RAll of these approaches were missing Outer or Middle Markers. BFL and LAX had misaligned localizers.SAN is another case of reciprocal approaches with matched frequencies. The OM now functions properly, but interference from the Rwy 27 localizer will give you an approach offset to the right. The LOC 27 approach probably won't function or will behave as a back course. I have included an option which changes the frequency of the Rwy 27 loca…

It has come to my attention that their may be some errors in the file I uploaded the other day. The first error concerns the readme, somehow I managed to package a blank readme. The contents should read as follows "Copy the CYKZ.txp, tms, and bgr files to your FLYIIData directory then extract Tmykz.zip to your FLYIISceneryShared folder. Created using Terramodels 2.2 and Taxiway 2.0 . " I will attempt to upload a fixed version of the zip and apologize for the oversight.

Here's an interesting article from the inquirer:http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=4474I'm not enough of a computer geek to know if it could be related to the unexplained CTD's that people have experienced with Fly!2, but I thought it was worth mentioning.Dan

After creating a flight plan in FLYII and initializing the FMS in the 757 I take off and activate the Autopilot. the AP automatically turns to 080 and begins the climb profile. It does not track the FP and will not let me turn off heading ode or turn on LNAV mode.Any ideas?

Hi,I just put this picture on the screen shot forum as well. I think it looks quite realistic, don't you agree? The scenery depicted is Bretagne by Gilles Guesnel. Yves Missenard was kind enough to send me two CD's with this beautiful scenery.Big thanks to all the guys at ROTW.EnjoyHenri

Hi!I am unable to start the Sahara (Malibu) normally. The only way I can start it is to open the throttle full. I am fairly confident I have the proper preflight completed. With throttle full open, the engine will catch, however, idles roughly and quits if I attempt to reduce the throttle setting. Acts like a "REALLY" cold engine. Sometimes the rpms will kick up.Do I need to re-install FlyII!? I followed the FAQ on patching and such. that SOMEONE would make a fantastic model of a Cessna 152. One with a full working panel, accurate startup/shutdown procedues. Accurate radio stacks, gauges working in each interior view. And what would really top it off was if someone could model the actual 152 that I fly around in the REAL world.....wouldn't THAT be something?Oh, wait, what are these?

A new web site has been created for Fly!/Fly!2 development. The idea is a place for you to post your ongoing projects, help others with their projects, organize larger projects, and to help the new developer. After the recent postings in the Fly forum in reference to Fly!'s future, I felt this would be a great way to help keep Fly! development going strong. If you get a change stop by and let me know what you think. I am also looking for help keeping the site up to date. If you are interested please let me know.I just want to do my part to keep Fly! the best Flight Sim in the world!!www.flydevelopers.com-dajackman

Has anyone else had trouble getting on to the mulitplayer lately?Fly keeps telling me it is "Trying to Connect", but never does - it always worked before. Can't figure out the problem. As susal, the "Gumby" server is not an option, but the one on the top is - however, I can't seem to get me real time weather any more. Thanks all.Chris Catalano

Hey fellow Fly!er's,I'am starting a request list for repaints of Giogio's B737-500.You can nominate one livery and if I think I can do a good job on it, and I think it'll look good then I'll put it in the rotation.I may do a paint kit depending on how difficult it is to paintup the '37. I won't know how easy it will be to do this until I get a version to play with.Pete
