The FLY General Discussion Forum
The General Discussion forum for the TRI series of FLY Simulators.
| Richard Harvey Lake Tahoe September, 2002 | This forum and all others related to the FLY series of flight simulator, are dedicated to the memory of Richard Harvey - the lead designer for Terminal Reality's Fly.
At the AVSIM FANCON of 2002, Richard and his wife, Tara, attended. Richard was presented with AVSIM's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the flight simulation genre and his outstanding service and support of the FS community. Richard was a friend to many of us, and never hesitated to assist and inspire. Richard passed away the following March, 2003. He is sorely missed by his friends and those that were privileged to know him.
Richard in his last post to the forums said; "Try to stay away from things that are dark, dreary, introspective, tear jerkers, etc. Think HAPPY -- be HAPPY. If that is too much to ask, then I'll change the word HAPPY to POSITIVE. That's the flow of feeling I want rolling through my soul as I depart this earth from each of you, is absolute POSITIVE energy. Don't stall on me, I have to soar!"
Richard also passed this along to us in his last post; "******* Christ is my Lord and Savior. As my loving God and Lord has protected and guided me throughout my life, I pray he will do likewise for you and your family. May each of you achieve your dreams, and not be troubled by hardships. I pray for your good health. God will only give you as much load as you can bear, and never any more. Do not lose hope, nor certainly faith. Above all, do not fear evil, for though it surrounds us it can never hurt us. It may claim hollow victories, but it always suffers defeat."
We are proud to carry on Richard's undaunted support for his passion and his unstinting support of the user. Welcome to the Richard Harvey Memorial Fly Forums! |

Mr. Harvey is a man of courage, intergrety. His explanation of Terminal Realities Problems in finding a Publisher for Fly was such an honest explanation I marveled at its candor.Richard Harvey's influence goes beyond Fly. He has over the years that I have seen his posts in the forum always came accross as a human being of great qualities.aI am sure his influence must have gone beyond AVSIM, I am sure he also is a light, beacon in his community and church.I have thought of him oftne since I first came aware of his illness. This one hell of a courageous man and also I must include his family.

Hello all.I just know someone out there can help me get out of this problem! Two weeks ago, I upgraded my operating system from Win98 to Win2000. At the same time I reinstalled Fly!2 and patched to the latest patch,(240). Also upgraded all of my drivers and aircraft fixes, etc. as required. I flew all of the TRI default aircraft and the ROTW TMB-700 Socata without any problems for a week. Last evening while attempting to setup the FMS on the navigation guage for the Socata, for a flight after setting up a flight plan, I crashed to the desktop. This happened for several attempts. The same thing happens when I try to fly the Hawker and Aurora B200. I am unable to fly all…

First of all let me start by:MERCIE BEAUCOUP ROTW!!!!for the splendorous P-51 you gave us!!!I didn't have much time to fly it because I had a lot of problems to solve during this weekend, but I intend to dedicate a LOT of time to it as soon as pressures starts reducing...One thing I have noticed is that, with the FM options set as indicated in the manual, I get - apparently - no slipstream effects or even torque, either during takeoff or while flying. I can advance the throttle abruptly flying at low speeds and there will be no yawing at all, which I believe is a factor on the real thing, particularly at slow speeds and/or high AoA.Question is: is it not modelled at all (…

Hi folks, when I fly higher than level 140 the engine makes a funny noise andfails! The carb. temperature is pretty low but the manual say that the carb.heat schould be off.But I think it`s an other simple reason, or?Bye

I'm in the middle of updating this site. I have moved it to another server. Please disregard this address.http://www.geocities.com/cadillac1_99/dedication.htmlThat is the old address. Im still working on the new one as I type this. The new address is http://mywebpages.comcast.net/cadillac43/dedication.htmlThis should take care of the bandwidth problem that I was having at geocities.com.As I said it is still under construction. So dont try to use any links for now. They wont take you anywhere. But if you want to look at it and let me know if you were in fact able to see it. Please let me know. Transferring everything will take a couple of days. TonyFlyII! ver. 2.40Directx 8…

Wayne has made a fantastic discovery--something that we've known but until he did it, we simply did not focus on it.Fly2 has always had traffic capabilities. It, however, is bogged down with 4fps. This, we know, is caused by the many high pixel aircraft models, such as PMDGs aircrafts, that simply show up in the dynamic scenery and bog down the cpu. It seems to me that there should be a way to prevent these types of planes from showing up when FLY2 settings are set on "full dynamic" traffic. Am I on the right track?tony

Just curious!Pg. 10 - 1.4- Fuel managementThe fuel tank order is : first the central tank (do not leave more than 25 gallons), then the wing tanks.Pg. 18 - Fuel management :...In order to keep the plane properly balanced for landing, it is advised to leave at least 32 gallons of fuel in the central tank.Which way, I just can't satisfy both :-smile12 Great work guys.Robert

HI!I have just installed Fly2 and the 210 and 240 patches. I am trying to find out info about using Terrascene to create scenery. I have followed the links in the tutorial post, but they do not work. Where can I find the version of Terrascene I need for Fly 2? I had Fly and had created some TS secenry before, but all was lost 2 computers ago. Thanks,Aaron

Ladies and Gentlemen,You might be interested by the fact that Laurent Claudet, TJ and Jean Sabatier's P51-D Mustang is finally available in Avsim's download section. We hope you will enjoy her ! As usual, even if you can start her with the "E" key, PLEASE READ THE MANUAL for it contains vital information on how she should be flown. Mac users, you are not forgotten : our friend Matthew Horridge accepted to translate the 10 DLL files for the Mac version. We will keep you informed on his progress. For our french-speaking users, a version including a french manual is available in the Fly! download section of www.simvol.org

I've always wondered... but never tried. It just seems like a daunting task with all the ever changing Virtual Airlines and whatever VATSIM is and talk of other additional utilities... Well, now that Im pretty comfortable in the cockpit, I'd love to give it a try.Any guides on how to get started with SquawkBox and Fly! II?ThanksBradThought of an additional question: What kind of performance can I expect using voice over 56K dial-up? (I usually connect 48000+)

Anyone else try Wayne Roberts' KDFW scenery? I keep getting one of two error messages, unable to load BH20190.TIF or unable to load TMHOUSE2.TIF. I have both the biberal.pod and TM256 texture pack in the shared folder.

I have a question about how realistic mountain flying is in Fly!II. I'm flying between Lake Country Airport (KLXV) Colorado and Aspen over a 12,000 foot pass. In real life, this area is flown by Cessna 172s and 182s, but it is quite challenging. There are a lot of downdrafts and winds along the high slopes and the 172 doesn't perform great at these high altitudes. But in Fly!2, I have no problem flying right over these high mountain passes in the Flyhawk. Here are my questions:[ul][li]Are there things I can do in Fly!2 to create a more realistic/challenging mountain flying environment?[li]Is engine performance of the Flyhawk affected by high altitude in Fly!2?[li]Do …

I keep getting "Trim fail" red warning lights in the Malibu and King..no amount of trim up or down seems to fix this. This prevents the autopilot from engaging (took me a long time to figure out why the engage button would not stay down..)Does anyone know how I can avoid this situation? I've tossed passengers overboard, reduced fuel loads, lied about my weight, and still found no reliable cure..Help!

G'day all, Just cleaning out my hard drive and found this aircraft repaint. It is a repaint of course of the TWA 707 by Jean Sabatier and Roberto Vigetti.Got a real sentimental spot for this aircraft, as still to me the B-707 is argueably the most elegant passenger jet of the modern era. Modern Era ????? :-) Ah well everything is relative I suppose :-lolCheers,Roger @YSSY
