Hi allI'm having trouble with the default flattens that show up as cliffs around newly defined lake margins. I know I could modify the default bgls but that this is not a good idea. What's the best way to do localised mesh modification so I can eliminate the cliffs without messing with the default files? What software should I use?CheersStew :(

Hello All,Has anyone managed to find a fix for FS9 cutting any updated terrain mesh off at the coastline of the original default scenery.ie, this is my draft Townsville Magnetic Island Textures with SRTM derived terrain mesh, but you can see that the mountains unnaturally plummet into the ocean where the default coastline scenery was.Does anyone know how to fix this?cheersBungo

I want to make a high LOD mesh so that I can latter use flattens to add small depressions (rain gutters) to my airfield.I've used Microdem to fill holes and BIGBSQ.exe. When I run resample (2004 sdk)with LOD = AUTO in the .inf I get a nice .bgl file that looks as expected in tmfviewer. However when i change to LOD = 12 I get a 1kb file that won't open in tmfviewer.INF follows///////////////////[Destination] LOD = AUTO DestDir = "C:Program filesFS2004SDKTERRAIN_SDKTerrain_Tools" DestBaseFileName = "N24E055c" UseSourceDimensions = 1[source] Type = ElevS16LSB SourceDir = "C:Program FilesFS2004SDKTERRAIN_SDKTerrain_Tools" SourceFile = "N24E055.bsq" CellType = S16LSB …

Hi again. I want to know if there is a Dominican Republic, or Santo Domingo island mesh for FS2002. I noticed that in FS the highest mountain has about 5,000 ft, but in real life the highest mountain, which is Duarte Peak, is about 10,000 ft. Please tell me if there is a realistic mesh around there, or how and which programs I need to do it myself. And if you have time, please do one and send me. Thanx

I'm fascinated by the use of terrain mesh in FS, but I have no background. Can some of you suggest some sources of information to go to? I'm particularly interested in the mesh of my home area, Roanoke, VA, in the Southwestern Virginina Blue Ridge area. It's a beautiful area, and I've already designed the neon star on top of Mill Mountain east of the airport and I'd like to start improving on the local terrain. Any help would be appreciated!

I've been attempting to combine several B& W aerial photos of my area to use as the texture to drape over the default mesh. (At least that's what i think i'm doing)I combined multiple Source entries in the inf file to make 1 bgl file.I used PhotoScenery maker and Terrabuilder and even the MSFS 04 SDK tools. The photos have combined well into one large photo texture. The only problem i can't solve is the blue"water" texture around the perimeter of the large photo texture(for lack of better terms)I'm aware that the outer edges of the photo which don't fill a terrain cell leave a black area, possibly an alpha channel, which msfs sees as water.i've tried the NorthLon, …

Hello...I have read many a thread here and at other forums, and I cannot figure out how to get a new mesh I have made for FS9 to replace the default in FS9. Regardless of what I do, or the steps I have followed that other folks have so kindy offered to others. It is a simple little project of me trying to put my home town in FS9 as accurately as possible, starting from the ground up, literally :)I have tried almost every mesh editor I have come across, from srtm2bgl to TerraBuilder Lite to FSDEM. I have used EXCBuilder and Ground2k4, and I just don't get it... (more than likely I am doing something wrong is the case)I'll admit I am fairly new to this, but anything I have d…

I've just got the hang of making my own mesh from scratch. I'm working on a scenery project in which I want to make some hills very close to an airport. The trouble is that even though I have my mesh at the highest priority in the scenery library, the original flattened area from the default airport is still showing up. Is there any way to remove this, or at least make it smaller?

I'm interested in getting a better sense of Middle East geography, and to that end I'm flying in Lebanon and Israel. I've downloaded and installed the three parts of Ryszard Winawer's Middle East SRTM mesh from the AVSIM library, and so far it looks great. The only really odd thing is a rectangular mountain of water off the coast of Lebanon, just south of Beirut. I've attached a screenshot.Any suggestions for fixing this? I've downloaded some scenery building tools, but I'm not sure how to approach the problem.

I've got my LOD13 mesh working beautifully now, but the only problem is that when I move only about 2 miles away, the mesh I've made reverts to the lower LOD default scenery, which is nothing like the mesh I've made (an entire hillside disappears). Is there any way of making a lower LOD mesh myself and have this displayed when I move out of range?

I have a couple questions, perhaps Justin will answer himself. First of all, FABULOUS stuff!! I've been using various free 38.2m mesh sceneries for some time now. The NH White Mtn's is my fave, as the area is only 2 hrs away by car. I run USA roads, as I can't stand having the asphalt perched halfway up the side of a granite cliff. What I'd like to know is, are the payware versions of the meshes and landclass better than the freeware samples? My next question is, I'd like to make the mountaintops more realistic, the rocks barely look like rocks and there are very few boulders & outcrops to be seen. Am I looking at major landclass/BGL surgery or is this merely a textur…

Hi,I'm trying to complete the exercise walkthrough in the manual, but when I get to the stage where I have to flood-fill the edge of the .bmp which is to become the watermap, I'm stuck.I compile the thing, and it tells me that the watermap has more than 2 colors and no land.I'm lost. I have black as water, white as not water, and a 48% grey around the edges as undefined.Any ideas are appreciated.

I am brand new at this. I want to build an airstrip at a remote location. I am studying the instructions for AFCAD2. I assume this is the program for creating runways. First I want to change out the default textures of the airport area with a grass texture, like you see in Emma Field, Skykomish,Darrington, ect. What program would be best for doing this, and where does one get the textures? I would appreciate any help or direction here. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,i just have the same problem, as day's before. I've downloaded the 90m .hgt SRTM data files of my area Hamburg / Germany. As i load the data in the FSDEM program, i like to cry. Is it real? Is it exact? The answer is: NO !!!What you see in the picture below, is an image of the FSDEM program, display's the area near Hamburg.http://mitglied.lycos.de/chatpinforyou/srtm/coustline.jpgThe redline display's the REAL coustline of the Elbe river. At the east site of the map is the city of Hamburg, left of the picture, at the right site, the Elbe river go into the northsea. But the SRTM data don't show the scenery as is it is. Hi all. New to this sim game and awaiting my computer setup. I've just bought FS2004 and can't wait to gt started. During this long waiting period I'm checking out all the forums and trying to learn and gather as much info as possible to ease me into simulation world. Now, I've been hearing alot about this Mesh word and always wante dto know what it entails. I'm thinking it as something to do with forming landscape and what not. Am I right to assume this. Does it envolve designing, forming and painting your landscape to suit the type of area you want to fly?I'm curious if it is anything that I need or a must to improve my scenery? I'm not into any sort of re-designing or …

Hi, I'm a newbie in this forum, but I've been observing it for a time. I've done some mesh scenery work for a while and need some help from the most seasoned users.I've been doing a project for the Leeward Islands, that is extending to include the winward islands, encompassing the entire lesser antilles, from offshore Puerto Rico to Trinidad & Tobago. I've been using SRTM data to do this work and tried to include, if available, ASTER data, but I need data to improve my result from the LOD9 that I've obtained from the SRTM-3 data that I've got so far.In addition, I got some scanned topographic maps for the U.S. Virgin Islands and for Montserrat at a tiny scale, I'm red…

(which I don't mind, it's not a big problem)Also is there a specific order in which mesh/roads/water have to be layered?Right now the priority is as follows:Roads - 115 (Most prio)Water - 114Mesh - 113Thanks for your help,Egberthttp://www.scandinavian-va.net/upload/ksea.jpg
