Hi, I am using Matthew Styles program and I converted 5 HGT files totaling abou 125MB and when it was done I had one file of about 2.5MB and this does not look right. I checked and double checked the setup and it all looks oK, but the file when I view it in TMF viewer does not look right lots of yellow with very little blue in it? Can someone tell me please what I may have done wrong? Thanks for you help in advance.Danny

Just uploaded v1.02 to the library. It now interpolates any missing SRTM data. So that means no more holes in your SRTM mesh files :-jumpyFor those who don't know what this program does... all you have to do is place this program in a directory with some SRTM 3arc second (ie 90m) files, and it will create BAT and INF files to automate the production of FS2002 mesh from the SRTM data.NASA SRTM mesh data can be downloaded herehttp://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/ Matthew.

Dear All:I'm correcting the coordinates of same airports of my scenery because, some maps has the DATUM: Porvisional 1956 and the SRTM data has WGS84, i read in my topographic mad that i have to add 12.4" Lat and 7.7" Long to my Prov1956 maps, this conversiton is for UTM Zone 18, for other zones and areas the conversion changes ? How many?I just have 3 maps with the old datum, but i have to correct the postion of a lot of buildings, macros, islands and son on.The good new are that my Phototerrain scenery match with the SRTM mesh terrain in valleys, mountains, shorelines....Thanks.Alfredo Mendiola Lima Peru

Hi all,On the JPL NASA public distribution site ftp or http://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/ for the 3 arc sec SRTM data there is new directory South_America. I was curious and watched one tile S33W071.hgt with the mountain Aconcagua. On the maps 6959 meters, in the hgt file 6928 meters. In high mountains again there are many voids (blue colour in this illustration): http://www.volny.cz/stoje/scen/s33w71.jpgHas somebody the experiences with the difference of these radar data in comparison with the true topographic data (the impact of the huge buildings, big forests with tall trees etc)?Cheers

Just uploaded SRTM_3ARCSEC_TO_BGL utility to the file library. This utility automates the production of FS2002 mesh BGLs from Nasa's SRTM 3 arc second data.Shown below is a LOD9 BGL that was built from 9 adjacent SRTM tiles surrounding the area of Santiago Chile.Matthew.http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/11378.jpg

I apologize if this is a reduntant question here, but I don't see any messages regarding my question so please bear with me.I have been quite happy flying along with default scenery for some time now. But a recent flight to Montgomery Field (KMYF) in San Diego has renewed my quest for better scenery. (My trip to KMYF went well until I started taxiing back to the Terminal and the concrete magically turned to clay dirt. It seems that the taxiway and ramp polygons are at a little different elevation than the terrain itself.)So now I want to be able to create some scenery of my own. The question is, "How do I get started?"What sort of programs will I need to use and what …

I have just downloaded a scenery package, and although beautiful to look at, it knocks my frames. I am mostly interested in doing IF and bad weather flying, so certain of the items in that scenery (i.e. complex buildings and textures) do not interest me all that much. I wondered if it would be possible to delete some of the non essential buildings etc on the peripherals of this scenery (typically buildings which are outside the actual airport area itself) If so, can anybody advise me on the steps necessary to achieve this, and the best software to do this with. Essentially I only want to delete buildings, nothing else, as I like the runway and taxyway placements and appe…

Hello all,I have seen several posts regarding programs used for the importing of DEM files or grayscale images to create detailed mesh scenery. However I'm wondering if there is a way to accomplish this without purchasing elevation data from the USGS...I'm designing a freeware replacement scenery for the stock Hartsfield Atlanta Int'l Airport, and I've divided the project into three parts: 1) The paved surfaces of the airport including rwy/taxiways/ramps, NLVR's, and surrounding roads/highways. These were made in FSSC. 2) All above ground structures including terminals, hangars, fuel farms, and radio aid to navigation (RVR equipment, ILS shacks, the VORTAC, LLWAS towers,…

Greetings,I bought the FSGenesis Catalina scenery and installed it and now I have a unusual sighting, see screen shot. A friend of mine says it's probably because there's an elevation difference and that a "flatten switch" will get rid of it. Anyone out there seen this before and tell me how to get rid of it? Any help would be appreciated. Thank YouHans Groenewold

Hello, I would like to produce a mesh for the area in which I live and surrounding area. I was wondering where I could obtain the data in which I could import into MICRODEM to use as a base for my mesh. How should I and what program should I use to edit the mesh manually so I can make it realistic. I have OS maps too. How could I go about importing the heights fromt he OS map into the program. Should I scan it in? Please help1 Thanks in advance. -----------------------[bR]Matthew Murray[bR]Jet-Precision[bR] http://www.jet-precision.com/MyTravel.jpg

I have spot height data for most of the world. What I want to do is create a mesh that just contains the spot heights.I'm not sure how good it would look (probably very "pointy"), but I want to see.So my question is can I create a mesh that adds spot heights but lets any other mesh show through (except where my spot heights are).In effect I want my mesh to be "transparent" in most places except for the spot heightsAny tips? And if my mesh has a lot of "transparency" will it be quite small? It would be nice to have a single mesh file that contains spot heights for mountains all over the world, epsecially if that mesh is quite small.Of course this mesh would be freeware, so…

The whole island appears to be displaced slightly to the west.Phil
