I am English myself but am designing airports in Switzerland and have been there about 4 times myself. I am looking for the most detailed AND accurate mesh for Switzerland. I don't care if it costs money or not, but everything i've found is not good enough. I use the areas around lucerne, bern and the Jungfrau to judge the accuracy by and all fall way short of the mark! I have tried Raimondo Tuburet's "old style" mesh, Gaia mesh (detailed yes, but too pointy!) and Josiah Haut's mesh and they are all OK, but not what i'm looking for. The closest i've seen is Thierry Pignot's mesh for Mt Blanc but that doesn't cover Switzerland. Does anyone know what resolution is used for …

I'm in no way an expert on mesh and i keep reading about LOD. But what the bloomin' heck is it? Am i right in thinking it stands for Level Of Detail? What effect does it have? Is it just for mesh or other types of scenery as well? how does one control it?Thanks, Mark

It seems that FS2002 only support LOD = 11 or lower. I have created a very detailed mesh of Devils Tower (altitude data every 10 meters, LOD=12 ani it was imposible to see until I discover TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL parameter in FS2002.cfg, the default is 19 but I have tested until 35 and there is a grand diference. The fist Image is my scenery without the cfg changeThe second was with TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL = 35But still we have a problem, if we are far of the scenary, more than aprox 4.2nm the mesh disappear "image 4"and whe we are near, less tha 4.2nm the mesh appear. "Last image"Someone know the changes in configuration to have very detailed mesh terrains far than 4.2 …

I have a question about the several land class add on sceneries. Do they require the shareware Land Class Program to be seen, or are they stand alone in the manner of other add on scenery enhancements? btw, I have downloaded and installed some of the land class add ons, and I think they look great...and may have just answered my own question...But, I wanted to be sure that I am doing everything right to get the best look possible. Thanks!Sherman KaplanHighland Park Il

  14. I've noticed that if I edit the landclass for a scenery area, compile a BGL and install it, it will look wrong if I put it into the same directory as other scenery. That is, I can not distribute it directly along with whatever scenery I am designing. Instead, I have to creat a seperate "scenery" directory, and add it there instead of just dropping the BGL into the same scenery directory. Why is this? Also, if you look around most airports, you see a "shading" that covers the landclass around the runway. Actually, it almost seems like it is it's own special landclass, since it still appears underneath the runway regardless of what landclass type is selected. It does not …

Thanks to schampi's post, I had the last bit I needed to build an application to change the default ground textures in FS2002 (if you have the app schampi, I gave you a bit of credit in the docs). The app is freeware (the best type of app) but requires some reading. Results of what it can do can be found in the FS2002 main forum. It's not an airport design or scenery object design app...it strictly deals with the underlying ground textures (and Autogen)....I'm fielding basic support questions in the thread I've opened in the FS2002 forum...Regards,John

Anyone tried any of these new free European meshes ? I'm glad to see we have at last got some freeware mesh this side of the pond.I do like the UK mesh, however I see an odd effect on hillsides. It's like the hill is stepped. Is this a normal side-effect, or maybe a problem ?regards , Tony

Just a simple question ,er I mean questions. For land masses outside of the USA, does FS2002 utilize GTOPO30 elevation data for it's mesh ?Reason I ask is that I want to be able to touch up Calgary, Canada, not happy with the river valley depth that runs through the city. It is too deep and a little too continous. Is it even possible to fix the inherent mistake. Because the fact that GTOPO30 is the only readibly and free data set for the rest of the world, would it be any any different if created bv me vs. FS2002(assuming it uses GTOPO as well). What programs out there in any opinion offered by you guys would enable me to do this? FSTerrain, FSMesh ??? Ideally I would just …

Hello Gents,I have a quick Question, I created my first mesh, just having some fun, Some mountains. I did not like how they looked after doing the standard DEM face lift so I modified them a little, ie. gave them a little pick me up. I found it very frustrating after you give them a facelift or elevate them more to level them off where the LOD's meet. When you guys modify them by hand as in take them out of their original elevation points, what are some techniques that you use to level the LOD's off at the edges ??Pics of my mountains below:http://flightsimmers.net/airfield/jackknife/lcest6.jpghttp://flightsimmers.net/airfield/jackknife/lcest8.jpgCheers Jackknife..........…
