I plan to develop a terrain following radar gauge. I can easily get the ground altitude below the aircraft, but I need to get the ground altitude in front of the aircraft (0.5 or 1 NM ahead).I am not a scenery expert, but if anyone knows how I can get this information from the scenery, I'd be glad to know...Thanks !!

Go to [www.Lagoonline.com] for the 70mb file. Its only 5 euros (about $4)! Made by thierry Pignot, this is the most detailed mesh for anywhere in europe ever! Resolution is (effective) 5-10m and (real) 75-100m. Don't ask me what this means exactly, but there site explains it. Just look at the screenshots to see how good it is! By the way, I don't work for LAGO, i've just been looking for this product for over a year!

HiI made a an airport with autogen (using 256 X 256 textures witht a total area of 1025 X 512 pixels)I added Autogen obejcts with annotator on the textures using the annotator tool. Anyhow it seems as teh mesh ground bgl exlcudes the autogen obejcts or prevents it from being shown.I'm not a newbie to autogen so I did everything right here.Any help on that issue is highly appreciatedthanks in advance!!!!Mario

When taxing at some aiports I have noted that the grd is laying on top of the taxiways or ramps. The grd seems to flash in and out. I live in the midwest and fly out of KSPI where this problem is real bad. Alot of the ramp is covered with grd textures. Can this be corrected and has anyone else noted this. It is not my computer as I have seen the same with out computers at the same airports. ThanksCPKSPI

I'm working with photoreal textures (converted from bmps with TEXBMP)to be used as elevated terrain mesh for FS98 in ASD 2.1. If the actual land area of coverage is known for a specific texture, is there a way to size your terrain tile to match the texture size exactly or is this trial and error?

Hi, guys. First time in here...For objects I normally use FSDS Pro to make api macros, and for scenery design I use Airport. After I've read some of your comments here, I see that not a few have recommended to switch to gmax for object design.Well, today I installed ver 1.10, the help and tutorials, went through four or five tutorials, and all I can say is WOW!! That program is fantastic. It makes FSDS look so tiny. I'm already liking it too much and considering to switch altogether to it, but I have one major doubt about it: the inability to produce api macros. I've searched and tried but it seems you can only get bgl's. Am I wrong? If that is the case, then this is disa…

I just created a mesh for the Chatham Islands in New Zealand. However, I can't get it to work (yes, even I get problems :-lol ).I did it in 2 LOD quadrants. The amazing thing is that the second one works, but the first one doesn't. I have double checked about a 100 times.Here's my setup: I have a DTM that covers the Chatham Islands and I resample into 2 LOD quadrants like this:NorthLat = -42.1875;SouthLat = -45;WestLong = -180;EastLong = -176.25;NorthLat = -42.1875;SouthLat = -45;WestLong = -176.25;EastLong = -172.5;The first one doesn't substitute the default mesh, whereas the second one works fine (the inf files are identical apart from the above statements). Just wondering if anyone is having Annotator lockups...I have been having it lock up on me quite regulary and it getting to the stage now that it's becoming a real pain in the butt...I have tried in both XP mode, and also with loading in 98/me emulation under XP, the emulation mode locked it up within placing about 10 houses on one square....Anyone got any ideas??Regards - John...

Dear All:I have created a small island over the default FS2002 sea texture using a Phototerrain scenery , but whwn i create the mesh terrain, only the part of the island where were the default displaced island have mesh eleavtion and the part where was the default sea texture is flat.Is there a way to create mesh terrain over the deafualt sea textures.I see hat the sea texture in FS2002 faltten the terrain.Thanks.Alfredo Mendiola LoyolaLima Peru

If your still hanging around this forum, have you seen the press release from LAGO about the Europa meshes? I think this is just what i've i've been waiting for, for Switzerland! There aren't any screenshots, but i've got some of Thierry Pignot's meshes already, and i KNOW these are good to be GOOD! Lets hope they don't cost a bomb.P.S. You said you are going to give up with FS2002, does that include that swiss mesh you were going to have a go at?

So now I have a 4 km by 4 km high detail image of the airport and surroundings. How do I apply that in the scenery. And how do I alter coastlines if they are wrong compared to the photos.ThanksPeter

Is this problem related to the explanation regarding floating trees?I made a building with gmax and placed it over a mesh and over photo terrain texture, it worked well untill I put materials to the object,its not a flickering effect, it just dissapears some times depending on distance and viewpoints. I followd the "disappearing trees" sugestions,and greatly incremented fps, reduced max vertex level from 25 to 20,placed it on a different scenery at the upmost layer; but no change, besides, Airport2.6

not for steep terrain!I started correcting the deafault landclasses around my hometowns airport with John Cillis great Landclass Assistant and Orlando Sotomayor's landclass values.First you have to imagine the aiport is in a valley. Between the aiport and a close mountain range there is flat land. Hi all,Comparing the TMF files generated by resample.exe with type = CUSTOM and Type=CLASSU8, i have realized that both have almost the same format. In "custom" TMF , only 2 codes are used for the data : X'FD' and X'FE'.An X'FD' ( decimal 253 ) is placed in the file where a custom tile is available, otherwise x'FE' ( decimal 254 ) is generated.It simplifies our life drastically. If you have already your phototextures well cropped, renamed, and converted, put simply a 253 at the right place in the input data file and resample it using type=ClassU8. It takes only a few seconds and that's it.!!Another interesting behaviour is with 254. It acts as a "don't care" flag. Putting…
