Hi all,the latest news SRTM30 at the address http://edcsgs9.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/srtm/ perhaps could be a disappointment, when everybody is waiting the 3 arc sec data, but there are also pros. One point of this 30 arc sec data is the average of 100 points of the prepared 3 arc sec data, so the precision is better as in the old Gtopo30. Moreover, there are interesting files, containing the difference between Gtopo30 and SRTM30 and also the number of valid 3 arc sec points for every new 30 arc sec average (ranging 0

Hi everybody,I used Jokin Bedialauneta's Grises50 tool to create new mesh terrain for a small Island I've applied photoreal textures to: I didn't follow author's suggestion to use a 256*256 image, as I hoped that it was an old restriction and that Elrond Elvish' Resample Tools (or MS Tmf2bgl) would "split" the mesh according to the LOD value.I spent a whole day of work for gray-scale overlaying a scanned map (one gray layer every 5 meters, being 130m the maximum altitude), and I ran grises50, from wich I obtained the dem file. Then I started Reample Tools, set my preferences, and eventually got my bgl file. But this is not a happy-end story, as FS doesn't show up my mesh: …

Hi all,I have created a scenery for LAMPEDUSA, a small island at the north of Tunisia and west of Malta. I would like to create a new mesh scenery for the island. In hands I got a map with coloured contours and also an image of the island taken from a cessna. I am new to mesh scenery and I would like some help on how I can start createing the mesh terrain or what software I need. www.globezone.net/lampedusascenery:-rotor:-rotor:-rotorBest RegardsMauro [email protected] FLIGHT CAPTAIN

Evening all,I'm still not convinced about the mesh procedure albeit getting the mesh correctly positioned in FS....and the parameter which is I've yet to digest well is the north west coordinate. So in the info file we have to supply a level of detail which in my view determines the distance between sample points. The higher the LOD the higher the resolution. Fine. Why then is the NW coordinate the actual NW coordinate of an LODXX cell/area? Should it not be the NW in FS which represents the NW coordinate of your mesh DEM, or rather the start of the DEM data (top-left most point)? I hope you understand what I'm trying to suggest :)Storm

If you have the earlier drivers it will cause FS Design studio pro to not work. The latest drivers now work with this program. I was getting worried there for a bit!

Hi. Is there someone who can explain what I'm doing wrong? I used the following parameters to make the BGL files:(DOS) SRTM_3ARCSEC_TO_BGL.exe LOD=8 interpolate=Y (enter) SRTM_3ARCSEC_TO_BGL.bat (enter)I did it to make ti BGL's, the ones in blue (S25* 00' W56* 00'... S26* 00' W55* 00'... S27* 00' W54* 00'... ) and the ones in orange (S29* 00' W57* 00'... S30* 00' W58* 00'... etc). By flying over the area, the BGL files "don't get together", making the error. What can I do to fix it?

Hi ppl,There are, it seems, some problems with certain scenery aspects in FS2004.Now I hope that your answers are all in the positive cause I wouldn't want to start what I've already completed from scratch so as to make scenery compatible with FS04!!1. Coastline/VTP systems?2. Mesh using traditional 02 SDK inf files etc?3. Modifying default LWM polygons to make land conform with terrain. By the way, with regards to this, instead of commenting out the offending polygons as suggested in FSGenesis, I replaced the 0m parameter with -9999. Worked aswell, but gives me cleaner data than all the comments + I'm retaining the default FS scenery and superimposing mine.4. Photoreal t…

I would like to modify the hilly reliefs of a dwarfish zone (16 squared Kms) so that the scenery that I have created results positioned to the correct altitude. I have not given DEM of the zone but I possess one detailed altimetric map in staircase of grey. I have tried with Gmax and the command "displace" but the problem is that FS sees the hills as an object and therefore you cannot be landed us above. I have tried with the "Re-mesh" of ground2k but the detail from me in demand it is not possible to have him. Is there some program freeware or also payware that gives the possibility to recreate the meshes in way detailed for a small zone departing from a…

Hi all, maybe it is a stupid question, but it is possible to merge several landclass BGL files to one?I downloaded some great Landclass files for Germany, but they are made out of hundreds of small BGL files. After I installed them in FS2004 and set the TERRAIN_MESH... settings to 22 the startup of every Germany flight took minutes (2 and sometimes 5 minutes). If I disable the Landclass files in FS2004 Scenery Library the startup is normal, so I guess the problem is the number of small files. So is there a trick to get the hundred small BGL files to one bigger one?I heard about a utility TMFMerge out of the FS2k2 SDK but couldn't find the proper FS2k2 SDK (so maybe someone…

Hello, I don't know where else to turn to ask for help in regards to RealScene US Terrain mesh By Eddie Denney, except the knowledge of FS sim community in the forums . I hope I am useing the correct procedure and forum for this question? I have emailed the publisher Vm** more than a week ago ,and even phoned them! but, recieved no response; my response " Shrug ??". I did a search on AVSIM but to no evail. My questions are: 1) Is there any patches for this product? 2) Is there a way to install it into FS9?( If there is I would be more than willing to learn how) I realize it is FS2002 product, but another mesh developer revealed a new patch for t…

Hi all,I de-assembled the hyp524008 bgl file found in the SCENEBeasthemeursscenery folder and had a look at the code constituting the asm file.There is an area, (20, 20) which in the default scenery is all water. In the code I get area fills and LWM Polygons in the following order:LWMDataAreaDrawPolygons 1, 3, 1, 20, 20LWMPoly2 4, 0, 0, 0, 0 LWMPoint 1, 1 LWMPoint 255, 1 LWMPoint 255, 255 LWMPoint 1, 255LWMDataAreaFill1x1 0, 0, 1, 20, 20LWMDataAreaHeight 0, 0LWMDataAreaDrawPolygons 1, 3, 1, 20, 20LWMPoly2 6, 0, 0, 0, 0 LWMPoint 1, 206 LWMPoint 1, 1 LWMPoint 255, 1 LWMPoint 255, 255 LWMPoint 1, 255 LWMPoint 1, 206LWMDataAreaDrawPolygons 1, 3, 1, 20, 20LWMPoly2 4, 0, 0, 0, …

Just downloaded the Terrain Mesh England file by Nanucq Faitmain and want to install it. Problem is I am somewhat new to terrain mesh and the readme.txt file was not included in the download. Yesterday, I successfully installed the Nassau Mesh file which was one .bgl file which went into the FS9/ADDON directory. Nanucq's file has five or six .bgl files and I'm not sure if I am required to make a separate folder to place those files into. Any help with this install would be greatly appreciated.

I've got MicroDEM and DEM files downloaded for parts of Illinois. Is there a way to use those files to better describe topology in areas that I have DEM files for?If not DEMs, what file format am I looking to download for inclusion into FS2002?What procedures must be taken into account to transform downloaded "topology" files for use with FS2002?Thank you in advance for your tips, suggestions and errata! :-wave

Hi all,Could someone explain to me how to remove the default flatten polygons so that my mesh can be entirely visible? I've been to FSGenesis but honestly, I can't understand what files I should modify and most of all how.Be grateful if some1 can help, it so much work modifying Islands and having an incomplete mesh is not desirable is it.Cheers all,Storm

Hi all,Its Storm calling again!I have a problem with one of my mesh sectors I'm trying to modify - first of all, everything I'm doing seems perfect. The mesh is showing up in TMFviewer however when it comes to FS2002, only PART of the mesh props up.The catch here is that I'm modifying the coastline of the scenery and the new coastline (and hence area) is a tad larger than the default and a positioned slightly differently. I'm using coastline editor for this job. I tracked down the problem to the fact that FS2002 seems to 'raise' only the mesh which is land in the default scenery. If I've had to 'reclaim' land (due to the change in coastline) by setting a particular polygo…

Which area is covered by SRTM mesh data files? When I d/l let's say S18W068.HGT.ZIP (which contains the file S18W068.HGT) which area is then covered by these data. I know, S18-W068 is one of the corners of a one degree long./lat. rectangle. But streches it from S18 to S19 or to S17. And W068 to W069 or W067?Does it make any difference for north/south and east/west hemisphere?I mean, when S18W068 is e.g. the lower left corner, is it then always the lower left corner no matter which hemisphere? Can anyone could enlighten me? Thanks in advance.Jozef http://www.dse.nl/~joker32/pictures/signature.jpg

Hi all,I'm trying to modify part of a mesh scenery using LOD11. I'm using the LOD calculator to retrieve the NW coordinate of the mesh scenery I'm trying to modify. The coordinates of part of the scenery are:N35.893152E14.5048343LOD calculator gives the following N and W limits which I take are the NW coordinates of the scenery:Lat = 35.903320312Lon = 14.472656250I insert these values in the inf file and the resample program generates an invalid BGL.I understand that LOD11 is made up of 4 by 4 LOD13 cells (correct?). When I insert the NW coordinate of the LOD11 cell right above the LOD11 cell I'm working in at the moment, the BGL generated is valid! Here's my inf file:[Des…

Hello! This might be the 100 time this Q comes up her!, but I'm new and do need help.I want to make a hill by myself in MSFS, just to see that it works. My problem is that I dont know how the "in-data" should be formated.I have a few clues about the ".inf" file and I think I know how it works but i need to put some data in it too.My goal is to make new and good mesh over Sweden since I have a complete set of elevation data with 50m spaning and an tolerance of +- 2.5 m.Unfortenly this is not compatible with MSFS so I have to take the long road, and it starts with just one man made hill.I would realy apreciate if someone could give me a hand here!!Regards Anders from Sweden.

Hey all!I am looking for a step by step tutorial for creating my own mesh scenery for different areas. I did it long ago one time for the Nashville area, but I do not remember what program(s) I used. So, if there is one, I would love for someone to point out a step by step tutorial for someone that does not know all of the lingo. I am very familiar with the FS2002 file structure and what not, just not sure where to get the best data & how to go about converting it from website download form to a *.bgl file.Thank you in advance!
