Hi,This afternoon I read elswhere on this site that there can be conflicts between the default terrain mesh in FS2004 and some addon terrain mesh.Whereas scenery addons are dealt with in a similar way as they were in FS2002 it appears any addon Mesh should be put in folders (e.g. LAGOTMS_Collection or Addon Mesh)and assigned a much LOWER priority in the scenery.cfg file.My question is where exactly should these additions be placed? This is how my scenery.cfg starts:[General]Title=FS9 World SceneryDescription=FS9 Scenery DataClean_on_Exit=FALSE[Area.001]Title=Default TerrainTexture_ID=1Layer=1Active=TRUERequired=TRUELocal=SceneryWorldRemote=[Area.002]Title=Default Scenery…

Is there a way to get them into the "go to airport" database? As their FS9 package stands, the only way to get to them is from a saved flight provided by Abacus, which precludes real weather and real time. Is there a way to do it? (I gotta belive there is, as the original Arrcab Carriers work fine in FS9 in this manner).

Okay, I am using 10Meter Data and Did the Mesh at LOD12, why is it that if I change from TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19 to TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21 I get these amazingly high cliffs (50,000 ft high and above)?

Hello everybody, I've just found a site : http://www.epilogic-aviation.net/index.html (in french and in english) which propose a tool to create mesh called "LABOMESH" and another one for textures called "TEXPOLY".according to their authors, it works with FS2000 and FS2002. just have to try with FS2004 for the ones who have it.......Please note that i don't know how to use these tools as i've just dicover them today... so if you ave any question about it, please don't ask me because i couldn't answer...Hope the information could help scenary designers and other to try...regards.Pipec. :-hah

The Dems are a little "crooked" on screen, does the True North/Magnetic North have to be set to a certain setting for Mesh?

I must be dense, How do I go about it (the easy way preferably)?I have the DEM of the Hudson River Valley in 10 Meter Resolution and want to make it into scenery.

I am currently using 76m US mesh from FSGenesis, and while the mountainous and desert regions do look much better, I have noticed more "anomolies" in the more urban areas. I understand the issues with "plateauing" of airports, but I have also noticed more "cliff" like shorelines, and in some cases valleys have step plateaus or rivers cut deep gorges when they should only be valleys.Overall, these litle things really draw me out from the sim, and I am thinking of actually going back to Microsoft Default mesh because I can deal with rivers running down hill easier than a big Canyon. But here is a question. Will 38m mesh correct this phenomonon, or just make it worse. I am…

Hi all,I am following the 'Creating Custom Terrain Textures' manual from microsoft FS2002 SDK, I am trying to ad my photo texture to an area, the instructions say...'it is assumed that the image has been projected to the WGS84 Lat/Lon datum'....what does this mean? do i have to have the edge of the image set to a specific Lat/Lon area? Thanks in advance, Rob.(-:

Actually has a post from last month on the first page :)The other forums go at such a frantic pace their hard to keepup with at times :(.Anyhow to my question.....How hard would it be, to make up one'sown mesh by manualy entering in values form a Topographic map.No DEM data available (that I know of), for my area here in Australia.

There is a selection under Effects/Artistic Effects/ There is a Topography Button, kind of interesting to load in a Shaded Relief Picture and play with it.

I used Matthew Styles great and easy srtm_to_bgl_104.zip to create some 38.2 mesh data. I was surprised at how easy it was!Anyhow, inland areas look great but my attempt at the New York City area left strange results. Water bumps and water running up land.Any comments on why, or how to improve, see pic...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35764.jpg

I'm sure I am just missing something using the new photo scenery designer 1.2 posted a day or two ago in avsim's library. Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.I can't get the thing to make a .bgl from my textures. It seems to resample and merge the textures fine (sucking up a few gigs of disk space) but just blinks when trying to make the bgl and says "done" without actually creating the bgl.Anyone else having this problem, or a solution? Thanks,sg

hi folks, thats my very first try in scenery design. i am trying to create "olympus mons" somewhere on planet earth. i managed to create a GMAX version with 30000 polys but failed on exporting to bgl. asm/azm files are fine, but compilation into bgl failed. ive set the size in gmax to the real-world-values. anybody who knows the limits of gmax/makemodel.exe scenery design?cheerstom

I have a particular problem with the mesh in FS2004 where it breaks through the Lago Terramesh which I have installed. I am using the Visual Flight Photographic Scenery.I have used the Scenery Reference from the FS SDK and have written a C++ program to investigate all BGL's in the default EURW directory which overlap the limits of the VFR scenery meshes.I have identified files in the default scenery which overlap with the VFR scenery and which do not have VOR, Object, Library, Facilities, ADF or Dynamic data. You can see the results at:http://www.visualflight.co.uk/forums/topic...946&whichpage=2However, these include coastlines as well as meshes so that outside of the…

The latest update to Microdem will now save in the 16-bit BSQ format that resample.exe will recognize without any further conversion. Microdem also gives you the rows, columns, and NW corner coordinates when the save is complete. You will need the current Microdem_setup.exe installed, then replace the microdem.exe file with the new one contained in microdem.zip dated 25-Aug-2003 located here: http://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/microdem/win32/Thanks goes to Dr. Peter Guth at the US Naval Academy for making this update for us!Eddie
