Hi , Wondering if anyone might share a little more of your knowledge with me. I'm trying to install animated blast sheilds on a carrier in Gmax, and I'm wondering how I might go about doing that. I'd like to do what the author of the USS Reagan did for FLIGHT DECK 4, the blast sheilds come up slowly when a user aircraft is placed just in front of the them. I'd really appreciate any tips you might have on this. Thanks again!!! AJ

Hello all,I have tried out that little tool called FSEarthTiles to cover a rather small area with a photo texture. Now it seems this tool creates one big texture bitmap which somehow resample.exe manages to convert to some sort of giant BGL file. Now I am wondering if there is a way to put some custom AutoGen on the forest areas for example, without too much effort. Nothing too fancy, but if there is a simple way to do it, please do enlighten me. :) I'd greatly appreciate it.Thanks, :-beerchugEtienne :-wave

I am looking for this airport KMSP as an addon. I believe I saw it several months ago but I forgot to book mark it or at least I thought I saw it. Does anyone have a clue as to who might possibly have this airport? Or can someone send me a quick list of all the people you can think of that do airports for FS9. I already have airports from the following vendors : Flight Scenery, Imagine, Georender, Fly Tampa, Sim Flyers, CanUK Scenery. I can't think of anybody else that makes top quality airport scenery. I am not interested in airport packages, especially ones that were originaly desinged for 2002.Thank You,Ken

I have just downloaded AutoAsm and tried to use it to make some background scenery for an airport I am modifying; to wit: Monroe County, Alabama (KMVC). I took a google earth screenie, converted it to a bmp and saved it to the Bitmap folder of C:Autoasm. I then set up the center point of the scenery in decimal degrees/minutes and set the extents at .5 degrees. I resolved the first issue of the runtime error 9 by converting the bitmap to 8 bits. when I hit the read file button it read about 44K polygons, checked the LOD13 squares, interpolated the fill points, etc. It then presented me with a runtime 6 overflow error. I as hoping that some one might know how to do this or know where I could find the resources to get this done.What I would like to know, is if there is some thing on the web that can explain how Richard Goldstein made Orcas Island?The airport I am working on has the same type of features I see in Orcas Island scenery. I have been beating my brains out trying to get night lighting to work in FSDS3.5. A post on the FSDeveloper forum by Hawkeye53 pointed out that FSDS3.5 has been updated to 3.5.1 which solves that problem and several others. There's no mention of the update on the Abacus site that I've found so just download the 3.5 update again and you'll get version 3.5.1.Al Wheeler

HI,Hopfuly someone else has done this and can shed some light..I have a nice photoreal scenery project with good color data ($$$) and have successfuly compiled it with resample.exe. Now I am trying to get the water/sky reflections to resample correctly and resample will only render a small area correctly and then ignores the rest for some reason.To be clear, I am masking the real water in the photoscene to get reflections NOT the FSX default Water.The SDK says to use 32bit Targa format, yet their melinium sample was 24 bit with a forth chanle with the alpha mask so that is what I did.one I did a small test area it cam out fine when viewed in FSX, so I went ahead and procc…

I have been searching the web about current navaid data in the real world and for the sim world. DAFIFF is closed. Navdata is now payware.My primary concern is lo en route fixes. How might the sim world update the data? Graham Mitchell, http://freespace.virgin.net/gb.mitch/, does provide navdat airac for us. I would like to know where else such data might be found ad contribute to Mitchell's project and keeping up to date data available. FSX, XP-SP2My system is using the #140 texture set for utility areas, grass beside roads (casement/berm), and isn areas where grass has been specified. The Autumn season is where it looks quite bad (brown). Is there a default setting someplace that would allow changing to the #139 texture set for these areas.Also all of the airports now have a bright brown texture that appears to be from the #140 set also. Hi All,I have the flatten (352ft), my GMAX hospital placed via RWY12 (352ft) and GMAX platform (453.3 ft, landable, no crashes).In AFCAD, I've created the airport (elev 352ft), Helipad and Start Location both at 453.3ft.Everything looks right.The first time I choose the helipad (World/Airport), the helo starts out at the flatten elevation. If I then chose it again, it starts at the helipad.Do I need a runway under the helipad with an elevation of 453.3ft? Or should I just make the airport elevation the platform elevation (not the flatten elevation)?Thank you.Jim

Ok, it seems simple to me, but may not be so in reality.I am looking to simply add some trees around an airport in FSX. This is my local airport,and FSX makes it seem as though it is in a field, even with autogen on Dense. I know that it has to do with the landclass surrounding the aiport, but I would love to be able to make the immediate surroundings as forested as they really are. Can this be done, if so, what program should I use for the best results. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can offer.Danon ---

Hi AllSbuilder 3.10I just reciently tried to make texture changes in a project.I clicked on Poly , than clicked the existing poly line and it just flickered green for a split second and back to red.I cant seem to highlight any polys.I go to pointer mode and I can highlight the poly outer line and nodes.I change the texture and recompile, and in the sim there is NO change.I cant seem to access any existing polys to edit.Has anyone have any idea why this has happened.I've never seen this before.Thanks Al Sibleyhttp://www.flightontario.com/images/sig_asibley.gif

Hello, I am planning to redesign some islands in FS9. I am using Ground2K4 and my project is mainly based on coastline, landclass and waterclass updates. I have a global SRTM mesh installed but the default FS flattens set the altitude to zero in some ground areas. Because I don't want to redefine the overridden part of the mesh (does not seem easy), I removed the default FS flatten files for this area. The result is fine except that the sea level is not always at altitude zero. I think I need to create several polygons to flatten the ocean around the island following the coastline. Hey!I'm learning....How do I start a new project in SceneGenX, just scenery, no airport...I want to design a non airport area, adding textured fields and ways and highway and so on....When I start SceneGenX, meaning a new project, I don't see in the Menu any possibility to start without first having specified an airport... I have found a progrma called Object Placement Tool which is free and uses FSX default mission-maker objects to "create" permanent scenery.I was wondering if there is antything a little more complete and sophisticated that would allow me to easily create airports, including moving ground objects, people and wheelbarrows etc.cheers

Hello All,another one which is driving me crazy:I made a small scenery using some RWY12 gmax objects, among which a trailer ("13m Trailer TNT").On my old machine, all is well, everything including the trailer looks as it should.On my newer machine, the tyre textures for the trailer are not rendered. And ONLY those -- the main texture of the trailer (and of all other elements used in that scenery) are fine.Both machines have exactly the same BGL file and texture files, I have checked multiple times that the correct texture file (tyre.bmp, DXT1 512x512 16bit) is present on both; I even deleted all other scenery elements again to exclude any possible "cross-effects".What ca…

I downloaded the FRF groups KDFW and replaced my simflyers kdfw since it was soooo out of date. But now my 18R and 17C, the mm and im are wrong and I can't delete them nor can I move them. The mm's are about where the im's should be and the im are about 200 ft down the runways. I think this is because they used to be shorter and now they're all the same length. Is there away to fix this? When I tried to delete them I got the message I couldn't delete stock navaids only move or modify. But I can't do that either. Can anyone help?

Today I was messing around with the Object Placement Tool and discovered that that "Gen_SceneryEffect" is a simple way to exclude Autogen (except for addons). Simply place it over the area you want to exclude and convert it to BGL format and add it to your AddOn Scenery's "Scenery" folder. The only downside to this is that I haven't yet discovered how to adjust the size of the excluded area. I tried changing it by adjusting the scale of the "object" but it didn't work for me. If you discover how to successfully change the size. I'm sorry if this has already been discovered, I know I asked this question a few months ago and no one seemed to know what it was.

Hi all,I am trying to edit the autogen for default. My Microsoft Annotator allows the placing of library objects but i have no control over the objects. They are picked randomly from a class /urban, rural etc.). I can't even see which objects are in a specific class. However, it seems that other designers seem to have control over the objects.Can anybody recommend a download location for a good autigen tool? This is driving me nuts becaus I want a gas tank park and I have 12 different objects on the tank locations!Thanks and best,Sascha:-mad

I understand that the zoom factor in SBuilder should be able to reach 65536. However I can reach only 2048. Is there a solution to this problem?I realize that the question should br raised in the SBuilder forum but that forum is in a differant language (I believe spanish).Thanks
